Create wherever and whatever you enjoy, it's more to life and art than just growing for the sake of growing. The monetization for all of these platforms is almost non-existent as well (they just ended the reels bonus on IG & YT shorts don't pay that much), with that being said you should focus on providing value that companies will want to put ads behind IF you plan to make money.
It’s his end remarks for me. Thanks for inspiring me man. So easy to get hunged up on numbers and platforms. Enjoy your craft folks, and let others do same. ☺️
I have always loved your channel! Always putting out killer content. I was not, however, surprised by these results. Short form content (and posting strategy on social media in general), has been and always will be, fluid. There is an ebb and flow to each platform, and they are constantly changing things up. IG was (and is still) pushing reels hard, so that sort of content naturally got pushed. They are also (as of this year) stepping back to pushing some photo content like they used to, as well as the continued push on reels, but the difference now, is that non-follower views play a much bigger role than they used to. As far as TikTok, I think that will forever be the the best platform for short form content. And here on YT, you have to look at the shorts audience as a completely different audience, since there is very little, if any, crossover between that and the users who watch the regular long form content. They are also now pushing podcasts hard as well, which I predict will be a 3rd audience from the other 2. End of the day, I think it is important, as a brand, to optimize content for each platform since they all operate in a slightly different way, and in order to continue to grow, you have to be ready and willing to adapt to the changes the platforms regularly make.
Thanks for the insight. I have the same experience as you. TH-cam is my biggest platform and shorts perform the worst. IG is the best followed by TikTok. I like the interface on IG the most for reels. Like you, I enjoy long form videos and will stick to posting them on TH-cam
TikTok for now is the best platform simply on what you discovered, it serves your video. it identifies its audience quickly and forms its algorithm for your next videos. that's why you see some consistent views from one vid to the other. IG and YTS doesn't do that, it still delivers your video to sample audiences to analyze its viral potential. If it doesn't pass, it goes on queue on when to serve your video to potential viewers.
best would be what most creators do on YT is just record your regular videos and cut it up for other platforms. since tiktok isnt the main bread winner you dont lose out if a video doesnt do well but you do win if it does good
The one thing I can say about TH-cam running someone else's channel, is Shorts can amass tons of views long after they've been posted bc of well tied they are to google search. I've seen several videos get barely any views in the first couple months to only blow up months later with no end in sight to the stream of views.
The TH-cam numbers make sense, there are a lot of people that are watching TH-cam from smartTV’s and TH-cam is built off of long form content. The other apps are phone only.
I understand the TH-cam views. I actually make it a point NOT to view short form content on TH-cam. I've actually begun unfollowing accounts that I used to follow that started going hard on shorts.
Its really the best way to grow right now since TH-cam is pushing them out heavily, IG doesn't perform well for me, TikTok and shorts have my most engagement
To be honest, I feel like your content is low-key, which makes it hard to grow. I'm not saying you should change anything, but you should realize that your videos have a slower pace. In the first 30 seconds of this video, I counted only six cuts, while other creators I've seen have many more, which is a factor for engagement. After looking at the shorts you made, the ones that were faster-paced with more cuts got more views. Out of the 8 I looked at, I suggest making more shorts like those that had a faster pace and more cuts. The ones that got over 500 likes were the best ones overall and to be honest, I watch all your videos all the way through, but three out of five times, they're playing in the background because you have a good voice and say good stuff. So you could say that I'm more of a listener than a watcher for your videos. For short content, you have to speed it up while maintaining your same vibe and adding more information in a short amount of time.
Really insightful man, thanks for the video. My largest platform is TH-cam also, and I’ve had very mixed results with Shorts. Some have taken off, most have done kinda meh. Instagram, I have not gotten hardly any traction no matter what I do. TikTok, I have gotten a ton of traction just in the past 6 months and grown my following significantly. This is posting the same content across all platforms. So, still not sure what the secret sauce is for why each is performing better or worse for me, but those have been my results! 🤷♂️
not surprised at all. I did not know how will instagram do but i knew youtube shorts will suck, and it sucked bad if you look at how many followers you have. And i was sure Tiktok will win this, and it won especially because you started with 0. Tiktok has another problem and that it pushes content by your IP address and SIM card (they don't care about the language you speak in the video or is the topic for your country). So if you live in a small country and you want to make content for bigger audience the hack for Tiktok is to get a new phone (with no SIM card) and a VPN to a country you want to reach.
I really don't think TH-cam is the platform for short form videos. Personally, I hate seeing shorts on TH-cam 😂 I'd just love to filter them out of my subscriptions feed
@@M.A.D.C.J build your own audience. That’s why it’s called fanbase. Lol not having an algorithm is fanbase’s strong point. Everything is chronological. All your followers see all your content. If you put dope content in the hashtags people will follow you. Why you want to depend on an algorithm for a following. You should thank fanbase for allowing all your followers and all the hashtags to see your posts. People will follow whoever they think is dope, fanbase doesn’t try to decide for people what is dope. They let the people decide. So if you can’t grow that’s a problem with your content not a problem with the algorithm.
Speaking on TH-cam numbers, it’s harder to grow in an area you’re already really successful in. Typically, the less you have, the more opportunities you have. Also, TH-cam isn’t really designed for short vids. It’s secondary to TH-cam. The 7-20 min vids is TH-cam’s 🍞 and 🧈
I think the issue isn't necessarily the design, but more so youtube has typically been a long form place for so long that consistent viewers of YT are likely here for LF as a whole rather than shorts, yet they still keep pushing them

That iPad workflow looks necessary! 🔥
I've enjoyed seeing you grow over the years.
dope experiment bro...been trying to get my creative will for short-form content as i do see potential in it. thanks for sharing these test. respect

I've noticed IG really responds to giving value, ie teaching something

Love the video br, you inspired me to do youtube and this is some great data and information on these platforms. thank you
Thanks for this video bro! 💯🙏🏾
And what about Snapchat ?
love it, thanks G
i think you should only be surprised if you got a lot of views on TH-cam Shorts, like who even uses that
Great info as always

Same
I really did think youtube would do better!..
good ass video idea
Fanbase app is better than Instagram, TH-cam and TikTok
Fanbase doesn't have an algorithm where you can build an audience.
