  • When you're just a wire jewellery beginner and getting used to your pliers and wires, it's often hard to understand why you would ever need to hammer your wire!
In this tutorial, I show you how important it is to Whammer hammer your wire shapes, chain links, head pins, frames and clasps on a steel block to create work hardened units, as well as get wonderful texture effects to create professional looking wire jewellery that doesn't fall apart!
The Whammer Hammer is available in the UK from Cooksongold: www.cooksongold.com/Beads/Bea...
    The Deluxe Hammer: www.cooksongold.com/Beads/Bea...
In the U.S. It's available direct from the manufacturer, BEADSMITH and other world wide suppliers: www.beadsmith.com/default.htm...)

The wire you use makes a huge difference to getting the wire or metal to flare out. It has to be SOFT, not half hard. Have you worked with aluminium wire? If not, try that and then practice how the wire spreads when hammered, as that is always soft. If I was teaching and helping you, I would give you some 1.5mm aluminium wire. Get you to make some squiggly shapes and doodles and then hammer then to see how it spreads and flattens. It does take practice, so don't get down. Learning a skill is an on-going evolutionary process 😃❤❤❤

@@LindaJonesWireJewellery Thank you, Linda... should've said what wire I use, sorry...I do use bare copper soft wire...I've always had trouble with the hammer thing...But when you see how Artists really flare the wire on curves etc...I could never get it like that...I get a lil' bit but not as much, which looks heaps better...I tried Aluminium wire years ago, don't use any anymore...spend enough on copper, lol...I had your channel ages ago, but lots ya...found you again yesterday...so is really good to see your still around...take care...hugssss💛💛💛
