His lyrics are saying : She came and saved him from drowning and saw him for the person he was, when no one else did and she loved him unconditionally and by doing so, taught him what unconditional love was and is. However, He decided to leave her and let her go because it was too much for him to bare. He now regrets what he has done and wishes he could rewind time and change his fate and not let her go. So now he will wait until she returns to him, By the rose that is a symbol of their love. Turns out, they are both so broken and need to heal before coming together again but he feels her and loves her and hopes for her return. (Hence why he calls himself the beast) its also based on the Disney Movie “Beauty And The Beast”
