- Thank you to our alpha patron Gail for picking this album to do for this month. This is the first 4 tracks (as i can only do 4 at a time or it will be blocked) and I am liking what they are putting down. The scope of the sound is just insane! Steve is so talented. I've heard a song or two from them on the radio but that is it. I look forward to the next four next week :)

Steve is Les Paul’s godson. The list of people that taught him guitar is stunning.
Everyone had this Steve Miller album. Required listening. Radio hit after radio hit. Thanks Gail and Lee.
“Wild Mountain Honey” is another song that rests the soul. So pretty.
I think what stands out for me in this song are the breaths, it turns a sweet song into something intimate, like lovers talking. Grown to really appreciate this one, great vocals.
Steve is an old friend of Paul McCartney. In May '69 after a bad argument with John George and Ringo, Paul stayed behind at Olympic studios and worked with Steve miller who was recording an album. Paul collaborated and played on "My Dark Hour" under the pseudonym Paul Ramon (remember Ram On). Steve returned the favor recording guitar on three Paul tracks on Paul's 1997 album Flaming Pie: "Young Boy" If You Wanna" and co-wrote "Used To Be Bad" Specific info is in Flaming Pie liner notes. Great album; nominated for album of the year.
Killer record. One of those that everybody had...
One of the recording tricks he learned by experienced artists was that one gets royalties for every track on the album, and if you break a song up into 2 parts you can increase your income. Hence the beginning was made a separate track from this title song and simply titled 'Space intro". He did the same with the following album by splitting off the instrumental opening of "Jet Airliner" and titling it "Threshold". I can't recall who taught him that but I did see him say this in an interview some years back.
Roger Waters did a similar thing with Pigs On The Wing. Splitting it up in 2 parts as bookends to the Animals album, and so increasing his royalties.
The Millers moved from Milwaukee to Dallas when Steve was a kid, and he met Boz Skaggs at St. Marks School. Steve’s dad had a full recording studio attached to the house, and T-Bone Walker and Les Paul would come by along with many others. He had no choice but to be a guitar player! He also learned all about studio recording. I saw The Neville Brothers do a funky as hell, wonderful cover of “Fly Like An Eagle”.
This album was played to death the year it came out. I still like it...! THIS came out the year my first baby was born. I was 18. Yea,... That was hard.
It would be impossible to calculate the amount of grass that was burned while listening to this album back in the day. Deeply underappreciated today. Great album. Nice memories.
Been a Steve Miller fan since the 70s, and I have many favorites, but Wild Mountain Honey is my #1. Thank you so much for reacting to it! Was good to hear it again after so long.
Great iconic album. I've heard these glorious songs for decades, and always enjoyed them when they came on the radio.
That's Stevie "Guitar" Miller. His concerts are fun. ❤😊
The great Lonnie Turner on bass.
An album that never gets old. Perfect for listening to start to finish while doing yard work or just chilling with a beer. There isn't a bad song on the album. My favorite depends on my mood.
Awesome album, I still have my vinyl LP. Luv it! Greetings from Rio
Great song
I bought this on 8-track my senior year back of high school in '76.
Classic, classic album. Right up there with Boston 1, Foreigner 1, Queen News of the World, Dire Straits 1. Every song on the album is great.
Wow. I'm blown away by this man. What creativity and sound. His voice is so unique. So good.
He's from Dallas, TX.
Buffalo’s own Gary Mallaber… unique drumming style had a lot to do with Millers hit parade at the time. When 16 played solo jazz during a teen fashion show before a Stones show… big break when his band was recording in NYC and Van Morrison happened by, first used him on Moondance then a few more. Went on to prolific studio work and an array of major artists; Poco, Springsteen, Beach Boys, Lennon, Bob Seger, Eddie Money… great drummer.
This is a gem of an album
I’m so excited for this!!! Can’t wait.
Had this album on 8-track when I was 16. Absolutely wore it out.
Me too. but age 24
My favorite organ in any rock song. Love when Steve and other artists overdub their vocals with their own harmonies. Such a great sound.
Steve Miller rockin me great song
A gift, thank you beautiful man
…..Still have my original LP ! Played this to death back in 76-77 ❤️ Bong not included ! 🤣😂🤣
Steve had a home and studio forever on San Juan Island in Washington State. He recently sold it. Stunning home. He came to the right place for eagles…we have them all over.
Steve's neighbor growing up was T.bone Walker pre- Chuck Berry invented the Duck-walk great blues player with big band late 40's early 50's! I wish You'd review "Brave New World!" Steve first album, starting with his first Hit "My dark Hour!"with Paul McCartney on background vocals!

Don't worry, Lee. You'll have plenty of time for "space exploration" when you're in your 80's and 90's. That's how I look at it. 😅
I know about wild mountain honey. And Tupelo...
WILD MOUNTAIN HONEY!!!! YES
THANK GOD HE'S IN THE R&R HALL OF FAME !!!😀😀😀😀
My Brother had every album and played them to DEATH !!!
STEVE MILLER HAD A UNIQUE VOICE.....NO ONE CAN DUPLICATE HIS "BRILLIANT" !!!
I played the 💩💩💩 outta these albums and still do. Everyone
From my Generation has the "Greatest Hits" ( 1974--1976 ).
On Vinyl, Cassette, or CD.😀😀😀😀
This album sounds fantastic in surround sound, for those like me who are into that. Steve Miller is also a long time friend of Boz Skaggs.
Great video! I got this album back then and studied the drums fanatically, still have it. Good, tight, and groovy in spots. Still one of my favorite albums for the "regular rock" style. Thanks Lee and take xare brother.
Wild Mountain Honey plays perfectly after Fly Like An Eagle. Trippy! It should be better well known. Your right you don't need to actually trip. That's what the music is for. It takes you on a trip
Very popular album at the time. Full of great songs!
Steve Miller’s parents were the best man and maid of honor for Mary Ford and Les Paul when they were married ❤. Listen to some duets with Les and Mary 💞
I saw this tour but my memory of this concert is hazy. I do know I fell down a flight of concrete steps…oh well, lol. ✌️♥️🎶
That guitar show on the album cover is the left-handed "Black Beauty" formerly owned by Hendrix!
This song was HUGE. So reflects the earlier 70s. Everyone DID have this album. Still sounds great....it was the Ravi Shankar influence in Wild Mt Honey....
The one I never got to see live 😢 and Queen..what a great time I grew up in!😂❤🎉😊😅😮
Other than the grateful dead and Bob Dylan, Steve Miller (5x) have I enjoyed the most in concert.
The Live version is amazing.
Amazing album and a popular album.

Love Serenade!!
I remember Steve Miller touring with The Grateful Dead in the late 80's-- seeing him live was fantastic!!
Two Steve Miller albums that you needed to own in the seventies: Fly Like An Eagle and Book of Dreams!
Yes we do know what you mean. I remember windowpane being a nice choice to chill with this album. ☮️ ❤️ 🎶 🎸 🎶
One of the first albums I ever got was from the Steve Miller Band. I'm a fan of a lot of their songs, but this is my favorite. The groove is unmatched.
Caught Steve last year with Dave Mason. Still flyin like an eagle.
Any drummer would be well served by listening to Gary Mallaber. His feel and tone are amazing.
A Great Lp from the band!
But my favourite still remains 'Sailor ' , from 68? , an earlier incarnation of the band which includes 'Boz Scaggs' , anyone who doesn't know it I would advise to check it out immediately!!....
Wanna play something spacey cool? Try Wintertime. Or something early tripping music with Boz Scaggs playing in the band, try Children of the Future.
I Love Your Channel L33REACTS 😎😎😎
Listen to Derek & The Dominoes version
Great music at night with friends. Good for romantic stuff too.
Oh you better check out Sam Cook !
You gotta go earlier. Steve had three persona's, Maurice, the joker, and the spacecowboy which he inter merced through out his songs. The joker was how he presented himself to the establishment. The space cowboy was the experimented with drugs, music life. And Maurice was his natural flamboyant self that was trying to create a new world. He thought he was a part of a revolution. Songs such as ",going to the country ",going to mexico","living in the usa" are scratching the surface of his early evolution. Deep dive recommended
His nickname Stevie “guitar” miller… saw him in the 70’s
Another group that picked up the Eastern trend. Nice album.
