Masin used to give free copies of the album to whoever visited him at home. In the late 80's however a flood ruined most of the copies of this album stored in his home and the price of the remaining ones spiked. He recently decided to print the album again.
:O NO way... I just finished the first song and I thought this music is new??? I usually can tell from which decade something is, but wow! This sounds so current, and not just because some current things take elements from the past - because this here really sounds like an outlier
I stumbled across The Word Love a short while back and thought I really must learn more about this artist... I listen to a hell of a lot of music and this album absolutely floored me. An outstanding musical accomplishment, right out there on its own. Beautiful.
I walked through the Chicago airport listening to Call Me for the first time. It was an unexpected psychedelic experience walking alongside crowds of people and watching the winding lights on the ceiling lighting up.
Everytime I hear Tears of Clown I got something in my chest, a kind of hapiness and easefulness hard to describe. On the other hand I miss bygone moments in my life.
Hey everyone I've removed the download links, due to the forthcoming re-release (by Masin's old label, The Bear on the Moon, no less!). I highly encourage you to contribute for a copy of this amazing album :) The Wind Collector sessions are being re-released shortly, too, by Masin, Alessandro Monti and Alessandro Pizzin.
Dear Gigi, this album is next to "finally we are no one" / múm my all time absolute favourites. Thank you so much for this intensive, special sound. Katharsis for mind.
i just discovered this and i´m just listening to it now - "tears of clown", in comes the trumpet and - - - well, goose bumps all over, haha... let´s see how it goes on, thanx for this upload, it quite suits my taste by being unspectacular but very nice at the same time... :-) cheers from germany
this got posted in a ninja tune page on facebook and i have to sya its one of the best things ive heard in 2021. such a nice balance of developement and simplicity. thats hard to pull off.
might come full circle, because a lot of the guitar tones i was hearing on gaussian curve's first album seemed very talk talk, with a touch of robert fripp
@@offbeat65 nothing really, although it lasted more than a week, it isn't as timeless as this, nor interesting as some vaporwave/slushwave records. Pretty forgettable.
Fancy more of this sound, and you may find Patrick O' Hearn, Christian Fennezs and discography of Mark Isham intresting. Go find their early works of the Eighties.
Wow, I can see where akira yamaoka might've gotten some of his inspiration for the silent hill soundtracks (synths nearly identical to those heard in underwater current are heard all over the sh2 soundtrack)
All of his synth sounds are actually samples from various sample libraries so he did not design those sounds nor was he inspired by this. It just so happened that the sounds from those sample libraries fit the silent hills world and it worked.
+Roisin Foley I believe it was Gigi Masin himself who drew the artwork: "The birth of Wind was something not easy and not clear at the beginning, because in the beginning I wanted to make a record very different, every time we put the project changed hands and skin colors then, when I found a way that I liked, the cover is left with a game of cuneiform perhaps better suited to something more cryptic and dense. I enjoy drawing languages nonexistent, graffiti soul, and the cover of Wind was born in 1986"
ALUMINIUM TARMAC No worries man, thanks for sharing it with the rest of us :-) I really like this guy's vibes, super psychedelic chill. Clouds launches me into space every time.

thanks for the insight!

The music Gigi makes has a certain vibe to it that I simply cannot find anywhere else.
This album is magical, transport you to a different place. So peaceful. Even has a romantic vibe to it.
This record is one of those that gets better and better with the time... It´s 2024 and it feels so good and refreshing!
Hey! Thanks again..
Maybe it's time to give it a new life... in the same feeling, let's see...
Who knows? :)
The pleasure is 100% mine! Your music has changed my life... I cannot wait for Gaussian Curve & more :)
ALUMINIUM TARMAC You can listen to it on label's soundcloud profile :)

Grande Gigi, every time I listen to this album is about goosebumps.
I just got 'em myself!
I realised today, sat outside a church in the twilight, that I will love this album for a very, very long time.
I walked through the Chicago airport listening to Call Me for the first time. It was an unexpected psychedelic experience walking alongside crowds of people and watching the winding lights on the ceiling lighting up.

Always happy when YT recommends fantastic music like this. I love the album art- it’s hypnotic.
Everytime I hear Tears of Clown I got something in my chest, a kind of hapiness and easefulness hard to describe. On the other hand I miss bygone moments in my life.
this is a breathtaking experience
No words to describe how much I love this
It's one my favorite records, ever.
Seelan Palay mine too :D

@@ggmasin you have an absolutely beautiful mind to have come up with something as special as this 🫀
Lirico senza mai diventare retorico, poetico, formalmente coerente.... eccellente lavoro Mr. Masin
The two songs i knew of gigi masin are among all time favorites. why am i only now listening to this album?
quite honestly the pinnacle of all music, absolutely beautiful
40 years not knowing this ! Waw. Love it ! It's never too late. Thank you so much for this discovery.

Saw this gem on the suggestion bar and liked the cover art. WOW! This is truly a masterpiece and my life is richer having listened to it. Bravo!
Same. And, personally, I liked your picture
I don't know if you know it but It's cuneiform. A writing system used in the ancient Middle East.
Thanks, I didn't know that. May you find relief from your suffering and happiness my friend

This is beautiful, just what i need at this point of mi life.
Thank you.
This album Is AMAZING !!!!!!!!! I Love it !!!!!
An absolutely stunning Lp, thank you for sharing.
Such a good album, great on rainy day strolls to relieve all the built up tension from the week. Album art reminds me of Sumerian cuneiform.
This is something else.
perfect music for writing
Released 1986!? Porcoddio! This is it. Simply amazing.
Way ahead of time

first track could be the music of a chart topping pop group
not an insult, just surprised this music isn't more popular since it's still so accessible
Just a matter of exposure I guess
absolutely fabulous! we got to say thank you Gigi!

Thank you for such an awesome upload!

Love this music!!!!
Goes without saying that Call Me is great, but Swallows Tempest, The Wind Song, and Celebration of Eleven are gorgeous in their own rights.
i love this
Basically perfect
Mysterious runes, translucent music, we are plunged into the depths of a sound cave of fairytales... 💫💦
Amazing
thank u
This... this is awesome

masterpiece!
Love it
marvelous!
Strange and beautiful.
Very nice !!
warm place
I wonder if Mark Hollis took inspiration from this when he created Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock.
might come full circle, because a lot of the guitar tones i was hearing on gaussian curve's first album seemed very talk talk, with a touch of robert fripp
good point
Hardly. Those two albums are way more serious stuff than this one.
Divino
Can someone help me find the lyrics to the first song? Can't find it anywhere and it's driving me nuts!
+xxPsy Muse Make up your own my friend.
I Love John Martyn .... and now Gigi too, hehe .... Very good!
+Sunartmusic Uroš Novak not quite comparable but both bliss yeah!
Gigi masin mistycal melodies
gigi masin direct translation in malay is salty teeth haha good stuff tho!
Nuna Tasya haha good to know
His cousin is Rambut Manis.
hahahahaha
wait, where did you cop this? thanks for the upload btw.
Bro wtf this hits
ahhh, an album that feels like I do
man this dude was way ahead of his time. proto synthwave for sure
What significance has synthwave achieved, aside from being a fashionable dropword for a week?

+Jog Singh why such russian music is unknown....
Олег Колтуновский Well its our secret now
Which secret please! I really like unique music expressions, did you name a russian band/artist?
All of his synth sounds are actually samples from various sample libraries so he did not design those sounds nor was he inspired by this. It just so happened that the sounds from those sample libraries fit the silent hills world and it worked.
can i ask if anybody knows who did the artwork?i cannot for the life of me find out who!...and thank you for uploading xxx

@@ALTARMAC what a talent he is damn
I came here for the Sumerian writing, stayed for the music
Why did I find out about Gigi Masin only today? :'(
Btw, thank you Nujabes. RIP
is underwater current a wink to Miles Davis?
saw this in a tik tok the other day, its finally time
Epic
Could you please provide an alternative filehost link for The Wind Collector? Mediafire is blocking it :-(
ALUMINIUM TARMAC No worries man, thanks for sharing it with the rest of us :-)

'The Wind Song' reminds me of 'Is This and Yes' from m b v a little bit
'The wind song' was written as a guitar track in 1974, then I did a synth version in 1985.
Try looking at the cover art upside down-----I'm dizzy already !
for when the swell season takes hiatus and does unknowing support possibility in presentation from any date
Just Blue!
The first song is the inspiration for Boylife in EU by Yung Lean.
26:13 melts me
So is that cover ancient Sumerian/Assyrian cunieform? Or just some modern gift wrapping?
They're cuneiform signs. it's my drawing from the early 80s :)
se non ricordo male dovrei avere conservato da qualche parte un tuo 33 giri con una copertina simile ma di colore arancione...ricordo bene?...
Gigi Masin literally means 'Salty Teeth' in Malay.
