I had to come look at this after someone suggested on the Hassan Campbell show, and you're absolutely right! What a weird ass video, I kept thinking that the lyrics didnt match the video as I watched it. But apparently this crap has been going on, they're just much more out front with it now
A beautiful tribute for the prostitute, thanks for be there, the life without your presence would be an empty life, God bless all your, my most deep and sincere respect, thanks Tina, for your touching tribute.
Did you know that the song Private Dancer was about the working girls, the many women who found themselves trying to live in a world where they were otherwise rejected, so sold their bodies for money. The lyrics are quite deep when you listen to them. Rest in the paradise of unconditional love Tina, thank you for blessing us with your beautiful songs💔🌹
My mother explained to me that the song was about a stripper/escort who hates her job but can't bring herself to leave because of the money. She wanted to live a normal life with a husband and children but couldn't BECAUSE she never left her job since the money was so good. So she worked a job she hated until she died as hinted by the ending scene of people throwing flowers on her.
I spent a lot of time in strip clubs as a younger man and this song definitely reflects the vibe I saw --- women who were using their bodies to make money, but their eyes had the "1000 Yard Stare" --- they had no enjoyment in their work and you can't blame them --- wearing a thong and grinding on old ugly men and feeling them getting aroused beneath you, that is just sad and disgusting way of paying the bills for a dignified young lady!
@@fredwerza3478 You can't blame dancers or escorts for doing what they need to pay the bills if they have no other skills. I think that dancing is a good way to pay your way through college but don't get stuck in it for too long.
It's a really simple song, and anyone else wouldn't do much with it, but with Tina Turner being a well seasoned veteran singer and artist, she was able to easily elevate this song and turn it into a huge hit.
It's a Mark Knopfler song, and I think Mark Knopfler would have definitely done more than "not much" with it (he's one of those musicians whose not-hit songs are equally as good as the hits); but I agree that coupled with Tina Turner's voice it became something else entirely. :-)
This video proves how pop stars were built in the 80s. Tons of personality and talent. Pairing Tina’s rough wailing sound with a glam rock backing is a winning formula.
I like your comment but the "glam rock backing" isn't quite right. Most of it was played by the rock band Dire Straits. Their guitar player and singer Mark Knopfler had written the song before. Dire Straits made different kinds of songs. Some of it was blues inspired, which used to be a very common influence on rock bands, but they had many other styles mixed in. They could also do some very sophisticated rock songs. That's how this song sounds as well. Some call those kinds of songs AOR (adult-oriented rock) but in the genre of rock there can be countless of different styles mixed in anyway. Well, sometimes the styles and the genres are very hard to pinpoint exactly and it's quite pointless. What I know is that it's music and it's good. :-) Rock music should be able to express freedom. We could be free of endless categorizations and be free to just enjoy the music. Take care and have a great weekend.
Then came that "material girl....." SPLAT went the 80s!! To an extent. We still had Sade, Tina, Anita and even Gladys Knight still!! There were points of Bright Light!!
Rest in peace Tina! ❤️

She has one of the most unique voices I have ever heard, one of a million
Have you heard a million voices?)

RIP QUEEN! 👸🏽👑❤️
its mine too what a legend
Knopfler was a genius and Tina was one in a million
God bless the 80s, and Tina's black sequin dress is 💯!
Certainly my favorite of all the songs she recorded. Simply stunning, especially the album version. It hasn't aged a bit, just like Tina. A genuine force of nature left us. RIP Tina, thanks for the joy you brought to my life.
I'm not sure any woman is as cool as Tina Turner. The texture of her voice unlocks depths of the soul pedestrians fear to tread. Love you Tina and fellow fans around the world. If I sound pretentious as usual... Good! She's worthy of the honor!
One of the best songs ever heering.
R.I.P. 24.05.2023 Kochaliśmy Cię w Polsce. Dziękuję Ci Tina za wszystkie piosenki, za emocje, za radości. Byłaś dla mnie ważnym głosem lat 80-tych, najlepszych muzycznie lat.

I had the privilege of seeing her perform, and I believe she is the best female artist I have seen perform live. I was amazed by her performance. She is great!
and great vocal too. no one can sing like her
Was that wembley arena?
Diana Ross in person was pretty awesome too..
you became an honorary australian in the 80s thanks to your support of the australian film industry and national rugby league football, you are a legend.
Zegnaj Tina, moze tam sie spotkamy gdzie nie ma nas.
Hadn't heard this song since the 80s. Dreamt of the song the night she died. Can't believe I remembered all the words after more than 30 years. Always loved this song and video. We lost a legend and an icon...RIP Tina Turner. 💔
Hi
The best sad song from Tina. A classic masterpiece that will never die. Tina also a legend that will never die too.
RIP Tina!❤🙏🙌
Fly high Queen!
Thanks for your music!!
Such a sad loss of a 🌍 class artist ,what song
The high pitch in her voice is out of this world...Will always love you Tina Turner. Rest In Peace❤
No one has a vocal range quite like Tina. You don't hear talent like this anymore.
True. Not even Whitney Houston
Disagree ...Whitney Houston and Chaka Khan
@@dougwilliams2480 They're great singers as well. I guess I meant to say not many have a vocal range like her.
@@lynnlabra9633 well..no.. Whitney Houston is unmatched..

Tina Turner has the best pair of legs in the world. What a dynamic lady with a beautiful soul.
They are insured after all!
She still has ! And she still sings as a godess!
@Xuan...Take a look by way of TH-cam at German ex pat, Marlene Dietrich. She and Turner are bookends.

My parents used to go dancing at The Rivoli in Brockley during the week. They arrived one week and hadn’t been told it was cancelled due to the filming the Tina Turner Private Dancer video. My mum and dad were invited in to watch it being filmed!! They loved the experience and chatted to Tina and the film crew.
Very cool
There so lucky

This is one of my favorite songs from Tina Turner. May she rest in peace🙏🏾❤️🕊️
Светлая память тебе, Тина!!!
one sadge to another. LOVE you TINA. thannks for entertainment
Watching this as an adult, this is sad and scary. Those music label execs are savage the way they treat artists.
That explains the horned man….👹
I had to come look at this after someone suggested on the Hassan Campbell show, and you're absolutely right! What a weird ass video, I kept thinking that the lyrics didnt match the video as I watched it. But apparently this crap has been going on, they're just much more out front with it now
True life
Agreed
The symbolism in this video is crazy now that I know what I know..
Tina on vocals, written by Mark Knopfler with Jeff Beck on guitar. A jaw-dropping lineup of talent.
And Dire Straits on the other instruments
Max headroom is all I have in response
Yeah you can tell by the way the lyrics come together, that Mark wrote this, and damn what a song
Mark Knopfler has said the song was ruined due to "them drafting in Jeff Beck to play the world's second ugliest guitar solo" (verse 4 wikipedia)

I just wrote a dance .it's hard for me and it makes me sick. But it is a great dance
For some reason, this song popped into my head, and I just HAD to listen to it. So here I am.
The wonderful singer and composer Mark Knopfler wrote a wonderful song, and the beautiful Tina performed it superbly. ♥
I always thought it was about her deal with the 😈.
@@Elly3981 there are satanic images all over the video. What does that baphomet dancing behold the curtain at 2 minutes have to do with stripping?
Simple song 😄
Concept simple, the industry uses them up for entertainment and finance
Tina Turner is simply the best. No one like her in the world. My favorite for a lifetime.
Will miss you forever..tina
A once in a lifetime talent... RIP Tina.
Espectacular querida y recordada tina por siempre.❤
Take care and have a great weekend.
hi ktriwcam
Then came that "material girl....." SPLAT went the 80s!! To an extent. We still had Sade, Tina, Anita and even Gladys Knight still!! There were points of Bright Light!!
