i have the Minelab 35 the only pinpointer to buy goes with my CTX3030 and my GPX5000 great pinpointer 4 inches depth no issues now 10 years olsd good as new
I was so tempted to get the 35. After all, I've gone back to the Garrett. Quickest in the field, followed by MI-4. The Quest stays in the bag. It's too chatty.
UPDATE : I've just bought a XP Mi-4. I think it's going to smoke both of these pin pointers. Out of the box it just sounds and looks like a better performing product. Review to come imminently. It was cheaper than both too!! BooHoo! XP Mi-4 £109.00
Where are you based? I have the same issue. Bedt thing I've found is travel to the nearest beach or river Foreshore. Beyond that, my most successful finds have been by joining a club. Although miles from me, I joined the weekend wanderers metal detecting club. Had some brilliant finds with them. I'm also going on a Joan Allen Event in August. Hi Shane thanks for your comments and supporting the Quest. Yes, it does certainly appear to be much better. I'm on my first major field event this weekend, so will put it to a real test then.

@@Chris-dz6ov it's still my favourite pointer, although on buzz it's obviously quite hard to hear but you can change that to beep. Also the settings are a little weird to operate but as I say, I prefer the Mi-4 over all my others.
Hi. Thanks for confirming. Yes it's far too chatty for me and the mi-4 is a little quiet sometimes. I'm sold on the easy to use, old faithful, Garrett AT pro. No constant recharging, fastest way I've found for recovering finds out in the field. Well, happy new year to you, wishing you a very successful one with great finds. Rich
Yes can't wait to get back out there and try them put properly. Fuel crisis. Thinking of going to the Lambourn event on the 10th to try some field detecting. Cheers

It was cheaper than both too!! BooHoo! Although the Quest is good, I find it quite selective. It's not easy to find a target. This Mi-4 seems to have even better range and a much better pick up.
Well it was in air! I've since concluded that the Quest is retired to the bag. Too difficult to use compared to the others. Garrett is the easiest and number 1 go to pointer. It's the quickest way to find the coin, when in the field. 👍
It's rubbish; don't waste your money. The buttons are too small and difficult to press; especially when wearing gloves. Joan Allen's after sales are useless.
Hi Mike, thanks for the comment. I assume you mean the Quest XP Max. I agree that it isn't my favourite. The XP Mi-4 or MI-6 are just more usable. The only up side to the Quest is it is super loud but quite buggy. It certainly doesn't pin point as quick due to the narrow pick up area. Do you have a recommendation on what pointer you prefer and use? As for Joan Allen, I've found them really good at point of sale, with discounts. They are just down the road from me so the purchases have been face to face. I can also vouch for Minelab. My rear stand and arm cuff broke. They replaced both, no hassle with next day deliver, 4 months after purchase.

Does the Mi-4 do ferrous / non ferrous ?
@@devonrod No, it does have that feature. Hope you found the video useful. Happy hunting!

The Quest smokes the Carrot on every level, goes 3" deeper as well.

@@DirtDynasty I must agree, this is really useful, especially on the Thames, as the is Ferous trash everywhere on the surface

Hi mate, any updates on it's effectiveness ?
I'm about to buy a pointer;I live by the beach.
Stay safe

Hmmm,,, chucking the XP Mi-4 into the fray, .... 30 euros cheaper (here)..

Try with a Coin...No pin pointer goes 16in...NONE
Yes, a basic test to compare one pointer against another. Picking up that large monitor. With a coin in the field, Garrett is just quicker.
At 7:38 I do test the pointers in the field with a coin. Assume that you didn't get that far... Cheers
The most Ridiculous test ive ever seen...cmon 16 inches...😊

bit silly using your TV what a shame you didnt use real targets
Hi. Thanks for your comment. Yes, very true. It was just for a general guide. Later in the video I text on a real coin target, in the garden. 👍
