You can sdi to not get hit by the strong hit of shoryu and even ken’s shoryu is inconsistent if you sdi in.

Ken is comparatively a heavyweight in this matchup. Sure he's getting hit more times, but he needs three exchanges to take a stock and at 100% virtually his whole kit kills outright.
Joker is dependent on confirms and arsene to keep up.
More than fair.

@@faded9581 It’s the fact that Joker often just falls out of Ken’s confirms that makes it sad. Not saying that Ken doesn’t fall out of Joker’s confirms, but it’s way more likely to happen with Ken’s confirms.
Joker can kinda bully the shotos, when their in disadvantage, he is hard to catch with his mobility and the extra range + kill-power with Arsene makes the mu that much more punishing.
Ken also has to rely on ledgetrapping, while Joker can just hit him or counter his recovery.
If Ken’s combos were more consistent, then I could see this mu being a bit more fair.

@@eaa1338 All due respect, but those are excuses. You have 30 year veterans putting hours into designing each character's kit. Ken's confirms are inconsistent, (and is an homage to his series, Ken in is games puts unique spins on the Shoto base moves that opens up more potential but creates circumstances in which they can also fall short)
but that is intentional and that inconsistency includes both good and bad outcomes.
Ken has the most oppressive block strings in the game, bar none. His shoryuken multi hits have a lot of nuance, but is also infamous for being a fast anti air that kills obscenely early because it di mixes the opponent holding in on their approach.
His back air is on par with a heavyweights, his aerials are nearly plus, he has intangible pokes I could go on. Ken's win condition is close the distance. No one wins in a mashing RPS against Ken, he always has more to gain from it.
WIth all of this in mind, it is fair that he gets bullied in disadvanatage, his mediocre mobility compensates for his oppressive close range pressure, and if the inconsistency is a tradeoff you're not willing to stomach, Ryu exists for the very function.
