Irelia lore and TL;DR version below in case you didn't understand the quotes
Irelia as a child was fascinated by the beauty of human movement, specifically dancing. She learned traditional dances from her grandmother. Though she doubted their mystical connection to the Spirit of Ionia, Irelia still loved to dance. Irelia wanted to master the art and traveled to the Placidium of Navori to study with Ionia’s most respected performers.After hearing rumors of foreign invaders seen off the coast Irelia returned to her village only to find Noxians marching unarmed people through the streets. Noxian Admiral Duqal (pronunciation: doo-cal) took Irelia’s family home to have his fleet officers rest. While there Irelia also found out that her family spoke up, but now rested in unmarked graves. Soon enough Duqal ordered his men to start looting the house and they began to haul valuables out of Irelia’s family house. One of these valuables was her family crest shaped from metal. Irelia took the crest back and Duqal threw her to the ground and ordered his men to shatter the crest to pieces and to dig a grave for her. As the Noxians surrounded her, Irelia looked toward the shattered pieces of the crest and from within her soul, a rhythm began to beat. The shards of began to move on their own and Irelia felt the joy of the dances again. With a single sweep of her arm she cut through two Noxians. As Duqal and his men were in shock of what just happened, Irelia ran into the woods with the shards of her family crest. In the woods she mourned her family but also realized that the dances her grandmother taught her were more than that, “they were a powerful expression of something far greater.” The Noxians continued to fight against the peace of Ionia and rumors have surfaced that even the religious leader Karma began to fight against them with powerful magic even though her followers withdrew to the Lasting Altar because they would not accept this violence. The Noxians would not go unchallenged however, a resistance formed and Irelia joined. She eventually found herself at the Placidium once again, although this time it would not be on peaceful terms. The Noxians knew what the Placidium meant to the Ionians and a general by the name of Jericho Swain captured the Placidium and took defenders hostage hoping to draw out and decimate reinforcements to further weaken the Ionians. Soon Irelia freed herself from her bonds and “unleashed the full power of the ancient blade dance.” Many of Swain’s veterans fell as Irelia cut her way toward the general until even the great Jericho Swain was wounded by Irelia. This victory against the Noxians made everyone in Ionia know Irelia’s name whether in spite of her or in reverence. For her victory at the Great Stand at Navori or Battle of The Placidium as it was now called she was named leader of the Ionian resistance against the Noxians. For almost three years she led the resistance into battle until a victory at Dalu Bay where Irelia confronted Admiral Duqal once again and killed him. Although the war has ended in the Ionian’s favor Ionia has changed, factions have formed who fight against each other. The First Lands have been divided and though many look to Irelia for answers she doesn’t want the power so many others would welcome. “At heart, she still yearns only to dance alone.”

Swain captured the defenders but Irelia freed herself and cut through Swain's forces until she was face to face with the general and as she wounded him, it marked the victory over the Placidium for Ionia. Irelia was named the leader of the resistance and fought for almost three years until a battle at Dalu Bay where Irelia killed the same admiral that ordered the looting of her family home. Although the war has ended in the Ionian’s favor Ionia has changed, factions have formed who fight against each other.

I don't think she's ever had a chance to sit down and grieve. The moment she picked up the shattered remains of her family crest at the age of 14 she was in battle; fighting back the Noxian Invasion and then dealing with attempts on her life from opposing Ionian Factions that would rule the country unopposed.
And as she said early on, she doesn't- _didn't_- want to be a leader. People simply flocked to her because she became a figure head.
Compare that to Aatrox who is completely and utterly broken.
We need an Arcane-like series about Irelia/Ionia
next one might be for demacia lux/sylas since lux is their cash cow

I teared up when she mentioned the name of her siblings. There was so much emotion in her voice

Pantheon and Irelia feel similar, they both have been through alot and still push forward for their people, and end up being inspirational lol. would be cool to see some sort of interaction of some kind.
Recently they've been trying to paint Noxus in a more ambiguous light, less violent, you know. But then I remember what they did to Ionia and just go to the conclusion that they're villains nonetheless.
Under Darkwill's command , yes. The guy was a mad tyrant that wanted to become immortal.
Noxus changed tho, thanks to Swain's vision, he justifies his acts as necessary to protect Noxus (and humanity in general) from an unforseen calamity that would end the world.
The only reason I don't concider them "good" guys is the black Rose's influence, which is linked to Mordekaiser, who also happens to have Ties with Raum (swain's demon) as Mord says to Swain "Clutch to your borrowed power Grand general, your soul is already mine" even if swain doesn't intend to keep his end of the bargain with Raum.
Overall these last 2 years made Noxus and demacia morally ambiguous, I'd even say demacia are worse than Noxus, killing their own citizen simply because they have magic is way worse than conquering nations.

@@carnage6968 I think the reason Swain has continued to conquer is because he knows about Mordekaiser. Morde is finding ways to return and he wants to conquer Runeterra so he can be the ruler of both the Material and Death realms. Swain wants to conquer all nations so he can bring all people under one banner to fight against this threat, as the Noxii tribes of Valoran did under LeBlanc.

Most quotes by Irelia make my heart move a little bit and that is one of the main reasons she is my favorite champion. She also said she didn't need legends to fight enemies but to me, she is already a legend.

I'm very high now and when I listen to this, I feel Irelia's sadness, her longing for peace and the tragery she has lived through. I understand the motive behind the melody chosen and the way quotes were arranged, just makes sense and fits perfectly. I got how her life went, the choices she made, I feel sad for Irelia, but at the same time fascinated by her determination and the will to move forward no matter how difficult it gets.
Fun fact, the quote “Steals their life like they stole our land, I like it!” Is said by Irelia everytime you buy BORK
