Wow, I have so many memories of this place!! Good family days out! We rode this coaster over and over again and thought it was the most terrifying ride ever!! It looks tiny now!! I remember when they put the seats backwards! We lived the log flume aswell. Such a shame this has been demolished. I live an hour away from Morecambe and it is just not the same place as it once was. We used to go to bubbles alot too! Thanks for sharing the video!!
That's the first time I've seen that ride in over 20 years, it's just how I remember with the trees overgrowing into it made it feel like you were in a forest
You are quite correct this ride was built by Harry Traver in 1937 for the Paris World Exposition and was moved to Morecambe Pleasure Park (then called West End Amusement Park) in 1939 named 'Cyclone', which was later renamed The Texas Tornado. It was eventually demolished (sadly) in late 2000. There is still the Polo tower which to my knowledge is the only remaining reminder of the fun that was dished out there for over 88 years.
That is sad the last REAL thing left of Morecambe Pleasure Beach, there are still (or was last time I visited) still parts of the log plume still standing but I suppose it will not be long before some money hungry developer builds houses on there for the masses. Sad end to a great era.
Thanks for posting this. Loved this ride (and the Runaway mine train - 'wild mouse' ride). You cannot beat a good old ratelly woodie Roller coaster and this was up there with the best. Spent many a few years going to Morecambe in the early 80s. I remember there was a ghost train like ride but it wasn't scary it was a futuristic ride.. where at one point you were travelling in the car through a rotating barrel that made you appear as if you were about to fall out. Also had a room in this ride with black and white flashing chevrons... damned if I can remember the name of it though. Does anyone remember it..
Me and two pals used to go bait digging in the early seventies all proceeds from the sales of worms got spent on the fairground, my most vivid memory of the wild mouse was when 3 of us got in one wild mouse cart i was the tallest and sat at the back one wedged in the front and the middle mate half laid down, my mate said to the operator is it safe with three in his reply ....Find out ..as he set us off my ribs took a real battering on ths sides of the cart lol
@@Nelob00b Cheers for that. Now I have the name I have found it. It was Star Trekker as just seen the video online of haunted silver mine and it obviously has been themed to match the Western theme of the park. Can't find video of when it was star trekker before it was re-themed though.
@@chrisettenfield1898 Haha Thank you for that! I was a kid like 8 years old so it didn't really occur to me why a haunted silver mine would have a chevron bit in it! I remember I only went on it once because the outside was scary to me.
Remember going on this ride in the late 1950s when it was the Cyclone. The Southport Cyclone met with the same fate. Very sad. With some imagination they could have renovated the whole site rather than leaving it desolate and derelict.
This video just popped up, how wonderful. Many, many happy memories of this roller coaster which my Dad and his brothers used to paint most years in the late 40s and 50s. I once went on the 'cyclone' as it was known then, 15 times on the bounce back in 1977 free of charge as my girlfriend of the time was paying, trying to get in my good books I think. Happy, happy days, before Morecambe's sad decline. I really wish I had a time machine.
Happy old days! Our last school trip of Primary School was here for the day and memories from this day still feel like it was only a few weeks back (it was over thirty years ago now). I’ve only been here once, but it’s funny sometimes the nice things that stay with you! It was a fun old day! I’d love a Time Machine!
Was this ride demolished, or was it moved to a new location or stored some place? I live an hour from Morecambe and I wish Frontier Land was still open as it is closer than Blackpool and Morecambe wasn’t as overcrowded.

I was little and too scared to ride it backwards 😂

That familiar sound 😊thank you for uploading 👍🏻
The Cyclone, as it was known, was always my favourite ride.

Nice one. The only thing that I would have added was that the Polo Tower previously resided at BPB as the Space Tower.
James Biddulph the polo tower is being demolished this month June 2017

I know you made this comment 7 years ago, the one with the flashing chevrons was the haunted silver mine

Christ!! The ride looked derelict even when it was running!!

Genuinely terrifying. Felt like it was about to fall apart at any given moment. I believe it was relocated from Blackpool
No it was originally built in Morecambe. The Polo tower came from Blackpool.

Depending on the day... You got to ride it forwards... Or backwards!!!

I’m sure it was taken to Blackpool pleasure beach after this but I might be wrong…
Actually the ride is second hand because before it was in morecambe it was in Paris near the effiel tower
Originally the cyclone!!! First rollercoaster I ever went on
I rode this coaster the day Princess Diana died, true story!
I rode the M60 motorway to Manchester.
Dude I was there that day too
