I've been pitching a Letterkenny/TPB's crossover, and Torrens is the key. J-Roc is Noah Dyck's brother, who went on Rumspringa in '99 and never came back. The TPB crew go on a road trip to spread Lahey's ashes, somewhere near Letterkenny. Bubbles loves animals, so he joins the hicks, Ricky joins the skids, Randy is a natural born degen, J-Roc joins the Amish, etc etc. There's enough easy material for a whole season, while having a nice send off for Jim Dunsworth.

Some context: There was a black and white TV movie that set up the characters. It's actually very different from the series. The characters are similar and have the same names, but their behaviour is a big different. In the movie, Julian snorts coke and both Julian and Ricky get paid to kill pets that are annoying neighbours for various reasons. It's not as likeable at all as this. Also, they immediately add more characters to the TV series. JRoc and his crew, as well as Mr. Lahey and Randy, and Bubbles aren't in the movie. Pat Roach, who plays Randy, actually plays the owner of a dog they're trying to dispose of, but in the midst of a gun fight, they decide not to kill the dog, and then they all get arrested. That's where the series picks up. But the characters are a lot more likeable in the TV series that you're getting into and while they smoke cannabis, they don't typically get into the harder drugs and as much as the show does have gun play, strong language and sexual references, it's a lot more family values than the movie. Behind it all, there's a heart to the series. It isn't just absurdity. And by all accounts, this is pretty much just an exaggerated version of what Canadian trailer parks are really like. John Dunsworth, Mr. Lahey, passed away a few years ago and he was terrific in the role, as you'll see as the show goes along. He's the villain, but he has sympathetic motivations. He's not just an evil bad guy with no redeeming qualities. No one is really a hero here, and I like that. They're all human, doing the best they can, but not always making the best choices in life.

Mert, I'd love for you to check out Kim's Convenience. It perfectly captures the diverse spirit of my hometown, Toronto. It isn't pretentious nor is it a typical big city show. The banter is also top notch and it's spread across different perspectives!
They actually filmed at 3 different parks for the first 4 seasons. As the parks would refuse to continue to work with them after seeing the context of the show.
And yes, trailer parks a mobile home parks and campgrounds that have "permanent" residents living in moblie homes is fairly common. I lived in one for about a decade. A lot of people who are "snowbirds" (go to the US during winter) live in those during summer.
I remember being 11 at the time growing up in Canada and staying up later than I should have. Browsing the channels at near midnight I stumbled upon this show randomly and never knew what I was getting into. I was hooked right from the beginning and would always stay up on Friday nights to watch the show. Never knew how good we had it back then!
Incredible show. I’m so glad we have it. Since 2003 this has been the 1 constant in my life lol. We used to get excited for Sunday night at 10pm for the new episode to come on.

If I were to list my top 3 fav. Canadian comedies it would be Trailer Park Boys, Letter Kenney and Kids in the Hall. So happy you have seen them all. Hope you keep with this series)
Trailer Park Boys also have movies - The Big Dirty , Countdown to Liquor Day plus a couple others. Jimmy Kimmel had them on his talk show as their TV characters . Stoners Snoop Dogg and comedian Doug Benson and actor Tom Arnold(once married to Rosanne Barr) plus some Canadian rock artists have appeared on the show . They also have a podcast Swearnet
another show called "shoresy" was spun off letterkenny too. shoresy was/is a hockey player character, in letterkenny he never showed his face as the same actor played two characters in the show.
TPB was shot about an hour from the city I live (and grew up) in. When I first discovered it, I really enjoyed how closely it portrayed life in an Atlantic Canadian trailer park. After the show became popular, it was interesting to see how many others could relate.
What a great show! Was a fan since the first episode but they really picked it up a few seasons in. If you want to check out a hilarious Canadian movie, I'd suggest checking out FUBAR from 2002. When it first came out it was only released in Canada so it became a cult classic and a lot of people outside Canada don't know much about it. They made a sequel Fubar II in 2010
This show needs more love especially the earlier seasons before Netflix. So much comedic gold in these shows, so I’m glad it’s getting some spot light. This show made my childhood, RIP Jon.
About 15 years ago, Mr. Lahey and Randy would tour Canada and they were playing at The Pub at the Park Place Lodge in Fernie BC, where I worked as a cook. It was a beautiful summer evening. A couple of the guys and I were enjoying a smoke out the side of the kitchen when a mini van pulled up to us with Randy and Mr. Lahey driving! 😮 "What's the special tonight, boys?" 😂 Great guys! ❤Great show! 👍

I have watched this show multiple times and it still makes me laugh. BTW John Dunsworth who playes Jim Lahey (drunken policeman) was only actor who didnt drink in real life.
I installed cable TV in that park back in the early 80s. One the best episodes is when they hide their hash by paving the driveway with it, or perhaps when they kidnap Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson 🤣
They gave you some great lines! The one about someone masturbating in the food court was pretty funny and delivering the line over the walkie somehow made it even funnier!
Yeah it’s all mockumentary. I love the boys. It does reflect a lot of how life is here in Canada. Not so much the crime but the party attitude is bang on. I recommend you watch the entire series to get the ark of the story. A lot of Canadian celebrities make cameos.
As a Canadian I'm glad you found this gem! i lived in a trailer park in Ontario for 3-4 years during the summer as a kid and loved it. I used to watch this at a young age with my dad and brothers on showcase back when season 6 was airing and really enjoyed the show but picked it back up for a full re-watch when I started high school. the first 7 seasons are perfect but the series kind of falls off a bit after season 8-12 when Netflix picked it up. My favorite episode has to be one in season 4 where Bubbles finds a wild cougar and names it Steve French. they found him in Ricky's weed fields after Trevor was attacked by him and found out he was eating the plants. definetley a great episode and one Id reccomend!
Ever since I subbed to you Was hoping you would watch, I love all season from 1-9 the most there is some really funny moments; j roc is my fav character and I love what they call “rickyisms” where he says a saying but it’s wrong lol
I’d recommend Kenny vs Spenny if you haven’t seen it! It’s a hilarious cult classic show based out of Toronto that gained quite a bit of popularity. Based around two best friends competing against each other, loser gets a humiliation! Episodes I would recommend: -Who can handle more torture? -Who can blow the biggest fart? -Who can sell more bibles? -Who can eat more meat? Cheers! Love from Canada, love the content!
Well done, Mert! Your discerning taste has brought you to the Trailer Park Boys, those loveable ne'er-do-well rascals from pastoral Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. It's vitally important that you savour the delicate subtlety of Ricky, Julien & Bubbles as they skip merrily from one scrape to another, deftly balancing the political, social & economic challenges whilst never losing their child-like innocence and curiousity that first enamoured us more than 20 years ago. Good to show ya dat we're not all next-level rocket surgeons like Jordan Peterson, eh! Some of us are like Wayne and Garth in 'Wayne's World', others are a wee bit bolder like these fookin' doofuses! It's difficult to recommend individual episodes cuz most of the best ones rely on previous events for context. Season 4 is my favourite: we get the brief return of Cyrus, we get The Green Bastard, we meet Conky & Steve French! And the finale guest-starring Rita MacNeil (she's beloved by all) is simply brilliant!
iv been watching your vids lately the war ones with canada but now i see this. i live in nova scotia just down the road from where they filmed this show. met most of them, its so simple its funny af
This show is a love letter to blue-collar Atlantic Canada. I think it did well because the principal characters are likeable and relatable and in its time the mockumentary style was totally original. What really drew me into the show besides the excellent writing was the sense of community they created in the park, which you can see being set up in this first episode. Everyone in the park is kind of strange but they all accept one another and beneath all of the conflict and weirdness that occurs between the characters throughout the show, you always know that they genuinely care about and love one another. At a time when TV shows had become very cynical and violent it was a breath of fresh air to see a show as innocent as this one.
I worked with J.P. Tremblay in the late 80’s, early 90’s. His folks owned a couple of fast food restaurants in Dartmouth called Harvey’s. Really, personable, funny guy in real life as well.

Wow you’re somebody aren’t you!😊😊
@@jennibartlett2029 lol, not at all lol, Beaver Bank is a small community, I’m sure just about everyone who lived there for awhile has a connection to TPB :)
Interesting fact: the show originally was all about following Julian around, but the other guys received so much love that they altered it to include all 3 as main characters. There's also episodes with cameos of people you would never expect!
This show is legendary! A real Canadian treasure
Mr. Lahey!!! 😂😂 So well-played. R.I.P. John Dunsworth. ❤
The first 7 seasons of this show are the best, hand down one of the funniest shows around if your feeling down and need a laugh this is the show to watch and that intro song is pure nostalgia
I agree , season 1-7 are by far the best, season 5 is hilarious, and just so demented and funny lol
Season 4 was the funnest because they supervised the park and season 5 jim became the liquor 😂
Trailer park boys has been my favourite show for like 2 years now. Rewatched all seasons over 4 times. Good to see new videos being uploaded on it
every season starts w/ the boys getting out of jail and then they come up w/ a get rich quick scheme that ends up w/ them going back to jail by the last show-there are so many great episodes(and 2 movies)
the xmas special i watch every year
Christmas is all about getting drunk and high with your friends.
@@Andy_Hinners and to gooder the famly ~
me too ~ its now a xmas tradition along with charlie brown & the grinch ~
Fantastic, love this show! I'm so glad you enjoyed and got it straight away. I can not possibly choose a favorite character as they all have their moments and the same with episodes. Watch the whole series, I will be here for it. Thank you!
Mert, I'd love for you to check out Kim's Convenience. It perfectly captures the diverse spirit of my hometown, Toronto. It isn't pretentious nor is it a typical big city show. The banter is also top notch and it's spread across different perspectives!
CORNER GAS as well
I love the opening credits, kids running around a swing set with no swings
They film at the Bible Hill Trailer park behind foodland grocery store 😊 on Pictou Road 🙂
Just the horrible Netflix produced seasons. Was a real shock to see the palliser motel used. And all the places I grew up around
@@gilmour73 it's gone now , they tore it down a few years ago
They actually filmed at 3 different parks for the first 4 seasons. As the parks would refuse to continue to work with them after seeing the context of the show.
The BEST Canadian TV show EVER!! They even have an animated season. 👍👍👍
Proud to be Canadian!!
Love this show. Got to watch one episode filmed. I love in Nova Scotia Canada
You were looking for boobs on ShowCase.
OMG Please do more!!!
Incredible show. I’m so glad we have it. Since 2003 this has been the 1 constant in my life lol. We used to get excited for Sunday night at 10pm for the new episode to come on.
Being Canadian every episode was epic. Hilarious. The country loved them. Cheers.
You have come across one of the funniest comedy shows of all time. Its my personal favorite and it is just amazing. Cant wait to go through this journey with you!
You know what I’m sayiiiiiiin
😂😂😂
“HUH”
If I were to list my top 3 fav. Canadian comedies it would be Trailer Park Boys, Letter Kenney and Kids in the Hall. So happy you have seen them all. Hope you keep with this series)
this show is the first mockumentary every my man
Trailer Park Boys also have movies - The Big Dirty , Countdown to Liquor Day plus a couple others.
All the movies. Tv season’s and specials. Are amazing.
Canadian classic.
another show called "shoresy" was spun off letterkenny too. shoresy was/is a hockey player character, in letterkenny he never showed his face as the same actor played two characters in the show.
He was a ref
TPB was shot about an hour from the city I live (and grew up) in. When I first discovered it, I really enjoyed how closely it portrayed life in an Atlantic Canadian trailer park. After the show became popular, it was interesting to see how many others could relate.
New Subscriber. All cause of TPB. Hope you continue with the series.
Finally someone reacting to this! Youre gonna love it all the way through
My uncle turned dad and I onto this amazing show back when it was new and dad and I watched it together every Sunday night. It's one of my fondest memories with him.
I watched the animated series and all the movies and specials.
I have watched this show multiple times and it still makes me laugh. BTW John Dunsworth who playes Jim Lahey (drunken policeman) was only actor who didnt drink in real life.
I’m from the community this is taped in … so awesome you’re enjoying it .
RIP Me. Lahey
I installed cable TV in that park back in the early 80s. One the best episodes is when they hide their hash by paving the driveway with it, or perhaps when they kidnap Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson 🤣
I played Gary the Mall Manager on 9 episodes. It was a very, very fun show to work on. A little messy in the food court, though ...
Very cool!
They gave you some great lines! The one about someone masturbating in the food court was pretty funny and delivering the line over the walkie somehow made it even funnier!
@@daveattheholdens Actually, many of the lines were improvised by the actors - not all, but a lot. The masturbating one was in the script.
The episodes only get better and better!!
Yeah it’s all mockumentary. I love the boys. It does reflect a lot of how life is here in Canada. Not so much the crime but the party attitude is bang on. I recommend you watch the entire series to get the ark of the story. A lot of Canadian celebrities make cameos.
Just keep watching it gets so much better. One of my all time favorites.
And to answer our question.... yes, there are a bunch of trailer parks in the Maritime Provinces in Canada
😂
you're gonna have the best Canadian tv series experience this stuff is pure gold !!
Episodes I would recommend:
-Who can handle more torture?
6:50 hot knifing is such a throwback to when my buddy broke my bong in college.
A whole reaction series would be awesome!
This guy has no idea what a special treat he's in for if he sticks to it for three seasons. I'm so envious, i wish i could rediscover TPB.
Greetings from Canada, love this show.
Trailer Park Boys.
I recommend the animated cartoon series.
Thank you , I enjoyed this.
I worked with J.P. Tremblay in the late 80’s, early 90’s. His folks owned a couple of fast food restaurants in Dartmouth called Harvey’s. Really, personable, funny guy in real life as well.
The whole TPB series is a beauty. I grew up enjoying that show. I appreciate folks that can appreciate it. Thank you.
Love watching TPB with you. It's like seeing it all over again through new eyes. Favorite character - so many - but Bubbles is right up there.
5:25 was filmed in between my childhood home and my aunts place; think I was 2-2.5 years old tops and probably inside when it was filmed.
Why do you feel like you need to post this?😊
