It was mostly because she lied and hid it from him. I'm sure if she listened and told him what happened he would have been different. He's also a former Marine , he means business. I think he should've never gave her this car because she didn't do anything to deserve it or work for it. The kids are super spoiled already and are lazy, so he's doing the right thing. They barely even clean up their bedrooms, do no dishes, no grass cutting, no part time jobs as a papergirl or lemonade stand. I did all of the above and shoved snow and was a babysitter. So a car at 14 when she's still irresponsible and no learner's permit.... He's doing the right thing and hopefully the car will go to a single parent or a struggling student who's car is broken down.
