As a Fix Auto shop we are now required to switch to Dupont as they are a preferred supplier .That said I don't hear good things about BASF waterborne when compared to other waterborne paint lines. Solvent they are certainly hard to beat. Thanks for the input!
Hello, i use spray max 1k water. sensible color like grey blue metal (mitsubishi b45). After 4 pass i can see my spot with mastic/primer zone. some part looks darker then my original peint, because many coat maybe.. not easy. best vibes
hi im a sprayer to, been watching ur vids keep them coming. good stuff. can i ask u what bar are you spraying ur laquer at and how many turns is the fluid needle turned out when you spray most of ur jobs. and do u put a first light coat of clear and a second heavy coat. thanks.
I have a similar question, I have small used car lots that I sell other services to asking me if I can fix fascias with holes or minor tears. I can do the 3M fascia repair no problem but not up to date on waterborne finishes. I learned on RM waterborne primers in the mid 80s and swear by these for no-lift spot repairs (and no chemicals). What is a good affordable HVLP gun to buy to spot recolor/clear fascias? I would like something good enough for larger panels in the rare case I need to.
HI JIMMO GREAT VIDEOS MY DEALER IS OPENING A BUMPER COVER/SPOT REPAIR COSMETIC BODYSHOP LOOKING AT BASF WATERBOURNE DO YOU PREFER GLASURIT OR ONYX HEARD U MENTION YOU ARE CHANGING FROM BASF ANY REASON? THANKS KEN
Glasurit and RM are quite similar for basecoat. Glasurit has nicer clearcoats and groundcoats. In some cases when solvents preferred, RM would be a better option. At the time of this video, the shop became part of a franchise that had a different preferred paint line.
i wish you weren't on the other side of the globe, i mean i wish i wasn't actually :) my b6 passat needs some work done soon, got a small hole in the paint on the roof.. could be a stonechip... and also some unhappy person left a nice white scratch all along the rear door, i would give the job to you in a heartbeat... don't know a paintshop i can trust around here
Hey Jim do you wanna change paintlines, I thought BASF was one of the better paints on the market, But if you are switching to Dupont's water I believe its is Actually a Standox product which I've heard good things About, Mostly about how it is a one coat coverage system which would save alot of time on your cycle times, keep up the great work, awesome videos!
about how much paint did you use on the bed? i was to paint my truck from the cab up 2 bumper? its a one cab truck about how much paint do u recomend? thanks
27 psi for an lph 400? Read about your gun dude, it's not a Sata. 16 psi is where it should be. Go by the gun manufacturer recommendation. I dunno why people think they know better...?

I doubt it, I am not an expert on compressors but I believe it is the CFM you need to pay attention to.
Ha, maybe we should write them a letter. Thanks man, glad you enjoy the vids!
That is a Sherwin Williams product, BS10. Thanks!
I've said it many.. many times.... Jimmo.... You have an amazing talent. What brand of Spray Bomb blending solvent do you use?

It contains less solvent but its probably worse in other areas, bottom line is its not safe to use without protection.

Depends on the gun and I work in PSI, not too familiar with Bar. I usually have my fluid needle wide open. I go with two full wet coats.

Every paint type is different. Typically 300 grams reduced for that job.
im just about to buy a paint compressor.. will 15psi do? is waterbased preferred for all types of finish?, thank you :)
Every gun is different. You need a compressor that can sustain your guns CFM needs, the bigger the tank the better. Hope you sorted it out.
Ive had waterbourne paint used on my car and only those panels are a lot softer then the oem clear. Normal?
No. It would feel comparable once cured.
Why doesn't this guy have a show on the velocity channel?
howmuch you charged for that job?
Why post a video if you're not going to answer any questions? There are a bunch of good questions, but not a single answer.
My apologies, I’ll answer them now.
good stuff
lol, ya sorry I cant help. I've got the travel bug so you never know where i'll end up next.
what this does deer horn clear coat LOl
Jimmo. I have no imagination....lol.....i need the finished product
Haha. I can't remember this one, probably had a few runs in it.
oh ok.. Thank you :)
why dont you use the hood of your paint suit, noting worse that getting a peace of your own hair on the clear coat.
That would have been best.

Yes, this is too high for that gun. Should have kept it lower.
safe money and adjust your clearcoat gun you blow alot in tha air
Actually I spray with LPH 400 LVX at 16 psi its a dog. I spray base @ 25 to 30 psi works much much better.
