Okello Engola's Clan Threatens Traditional Actions
On Tuesday morning the country was hit by the disgraceful murder of the state minister for Labor, employment and industrial relations Rtd Col Charles Patrick Okello Engola.

Okello Engola who was taken down by his body guard, private Wilson Sabiiti was the deputy clan leader of Otikokin clan.
Traditionally when murders of this nature occur the clan to which the perpetrator belongs is required to pay blood compensation as a way of reconciling the two factions.
According to tradition compensation at least requires seven cows, goats and some money and sometimes even more depending on a number of factors.
Still in grieving mood these Lango traditional leaders want Sabiiti’s tribe to come clear on this matter before they take traditional steps.
The bitter clan leaders also want the government through its security agencies to make public all information pertaining to one Private Wilson Sabiti who ended the life of their clan leader.
Charles Osendro, the Clan’s spokesperson also wants the government to reign on some pockets of people celebrating their son’s death on social media.
Col Rtd Charles Okello Engola survived by a widow and three children.

Its a pity we Lost the senator but I'm some of the traditional culture practices we still cling to are not fair. Looking at this issue its the innocent poor family of the bodyguard to pay yet the one who did the killing is no more to interpret the motive behind. God have mercy on us.

But their quarrel is on Sabiiti not his family. Threats of the spirits avenging on the family left behind are no different from murder too. It's abuse of tradition. I don't think that family can afford 7 cows! Let's reconcile without demands the other party can't meet.
