How to Utilize RAS Strafing in Movement Techs (Apex Legends Movement Guide)

- Covering how to RAS strafe (forwards and back) while also applying it in other movement techs to achieve different results. Might be common knowledge for some but I hope you can learn something anyway. There is also more you can do with this, i just wanted to create something quick and straightforward. Pretty sure this is the OG "neo" strafe not the config strafe that was falsely named after him.

in the first week of playing apex, I watched a bunch of tutorials on different movements, including this video, and started practicing, and finally, after a month playing game, I almost got replicating NEO strafing from this video! (and my g305 wheel does not have long to live xdd) it seems to me that this is the most difficult movement techniqueif if you want do it without loss of momentum, except for superglide without CFG at 200+ fps

bro, i wanna reutrn to that time so much. When nobody knew waht is ras strafing or lurching. When could dive into a whole new world of movement when the mantle-jump wasnt mainstream. When was looking at faide, gruic, e7x gameplay and be amaized of all this stuff. That was a sweat time
was just thinking about this. Skill has reached a whole new level compared to this old video. Xylas for example is insane and watching his guide made me realize how much the movement evolved since I put this out :')

Just a question not sure if ull ever see this but do you use your middle finger on the scroll wheel? From my understanding it seems to be the reason people are able to do this while shooting. I use my index finger on the wheel and the mouse button so its hard for me to shoot and strafe at the same time. If u do use your index finger, how did u manage to do this while shooting?
it’s possible to shoot with index with guns like the mastiff or pk since they have down time so u can strafe > shoot and while it’s reloading u strafe again. I had to learn middle finger scroll for auto guns. Hope this helps :)
can i still do the same movement including in this video with the cfg that blind scroll up as jump+move foward ?

I don’t think so because that will do both jump and tap strafe at same time but for this movement you need to do them separately so you can time the inputs. :)

Hey, isn't this chaining of RAS strafing also called figure 8 strafing? Or is figure 8 a whole other variation of lurch strafing? I've heard about this term very often, but no one on TH-cam seems to have covered the topic of figure 8 strafing, so while playing around with RAS chaining I got a strafing pattern that is very similar to the one of figure 8, although I am not sure
Gruic covered figure 8 strafing and to my knowledge its chaining forward RAS's together but with the added S inputs to make a figure 8 rather than just going forward. The naming of things is rough because its all so similar with slight variations :P

Do you see a negative in binding one scroll wheel direction to both "jump" and "forward"?
I believe so, since every time you scroll jump you’ll tap strafe and sometimes I don’t necessarily want to tap but I think with some getting use to it can be perfectly fine
@@Allhypeee So you have scrollwheel down bound to W and scrollwheel up to jump am I correct? I got a bit confused because you say W and jump on both scrolwheel directions but this is not the case then.

How can I do it without problems? Neo strafing ...I'm also from PC and it's a bit complicated for me.
I have completely random question why is there a huge platform in my firing range but its not there in your firing range? the spot that its located is where you are looking at after you wall bounce to the left at 3:18
they added it back recently maybe with the 2nd split content from last season?
I know this video is old now, ish, how do you know if you have successfully done a ras strafe? I'm new and want to learn it. I go in 3rd person mode to practice. Sometimes my legend will have sharp movements and other times very dull lol.
Ras strafing is basically moving left to right or right to left in the air so the sharper that horizontal movement the better. Also if you can slide after a standing still jump ras strafe that’s another indicator u were sharp while keeping speed to carry into the slide.

yeah the very last clip is just alternating forward and backwards ras strafes

so wait, when u do a backwards strafing, do u have ur scroll wheel down to jump or s
It’s Up for jump and down for W. The backwards strafe involves no S scroll. Just the “A>S>D and W scroll in between S>D

Question do u think figire 8 strafing is worse than this
I think they are all really good and test the limits of the lurch mechanics but when it comes to live game it’s all about consistency which figure 8 and zig zags do really well especially at higher speeds with octane and maggie :)

Slide jump into pito strafe is a diff story without stim
super useful , but why when doing back warkward strafe,you use scrollw instead of w key?
the scrollW inputs more W presses than a single key press which makes the strafe more tight and fast :)
why CTRL when wall jump?
not necessary it just puts your character in a slide ready stance for when you touch the ground but now it’s just muscle memory to crouch in the air for me.
add sliding and you have the pitou slide

if ur on steam and have tap strafe bound with steam controller u can but I believe it works differently since steam allows tap strafe in all 4 directions

idk man but if feels like my asd just does nothing
after leaving the ground with jump or after a wall bounce you have .4 seconds to input these moves since that’s how big your lurch window is. You gotta input them quickly after leaving the ground or after bouncing off a wall etc. Hope this helps!

console aim assist is very op, 60% of your aim on console is aim assist, the game is aiming for you more than the player

this on controller is way easier, its only 3 inputs you need, on mnk its like six. your movement is cracked tho

@@Allhypeee you'd probably have to like 2X your input speed to pull it off since you move so slowly when healing, if it can be pulled off with small heals, then it would bring gold shields to a higher value
