  • Can wealth from billionaires and big corporations really trickle down? Or is it a trickle down trick? Greens Leader Adam Bandt poured some champagne to find out. 🥂
    Australia’s billionaires grew their wealth by 34% during the pandemic. Yet the Liberals still gave $62 Billion a year in handouts to billionaires and big corporations.
    This is a budget for billionaires and big corporations. Sure, it ‘invests in people’ - those people are Clive Palmer, Gerry Harvey and Gina Rinehart.

Let's look at the Facts, more men are homeless than women, more men lose custody of their children than women, more men are murdered, less men hold Degrees, less boys finish high school, and more men die at work. In 2023 in the West women are not an oppressed underclass and no they do not require any special programs to end the disadvantage. Vote Greens 1 put the LNP and ALP dead last they are forcing Aussies into homelessness most of which are men.

    Wish they specified the amount each party (LNP/ALP) received in donations and when. I would imagine the large portion of those donations went to LNP. In the past decade there was probably a lot of donations flung at ALP to prevent carbon taxes. But even more at Murdoch to oust Labor.

    • @--Nath--
      @--Nath-- 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That just means the ALP is cheaper to buy. Or just self corrupted if they don't even get the donations, but prioritise the profits/interests of the wealthy.

    • @TheOrganicOverdose
      @TheOrganicOverdose 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@--Nath-- I don't know. Maybe the greens simply cannot command the respect of large donors. The Greens are making excellent moves forward, but I doubt their intentions to actually govern. At the moment they serve only to siphon votes from the better policies of Labor and allow the LNP to maintain their stranglehold on Australia. The Greens need to work with Labor, but the bridges seem to be being burnt these days

    • @--Nath--
      @--Nath-- 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheOrganicOverdose the "command respect" you mean of course "get to write policy"? Labor is corrupt - by any definition of the term. We have seen them at state level ICACs, they take donations and will do whatever it takes to appease the donors (gambling for instance). Greens do not do this, which is a GOOD thing. So they can't magically make themselves corrupt to meet with Labor's coal or gambling or other corrupt conduct. Labor needs to be less corrupt and less antagonistic to those who aren't corrupt. Not having Greens corrupt themselves to be able to help implement corrupt laws/policies.

    • @--Nath--
      @--Nath-- 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheOrganicOverdose and what "better policies" of Labor? I cannot think of any policy area where I would describe Labor as having a more coherent, or fair/equitable or forward thinking policy. They have copied so many Liberal party policies it is hard to see daylight between them.

    I think Australians need a solid lesson in the economy and taxes, particularly in terms of "debt and deficit". Many are of the opinion that debt is bad, but in reality, it's how the money is spent that really matters. This is never well addressed and always twisted to suit particular agendas, but put in simple terms, e.g., going into debt to buy a house is a good investment (particularly when inflation out-paces the rate of the loan), similarly, investing in the NBN properly years ago would mean that we would not be paying twice as much now. So being in debt can be ok, so long as the money is well spent. In terms of deficit, well, selling off Australian assets can make the deficit look fantastic (e.g., Keating selling CSL) but actually have later costs to the country (e.g. contracting CSL for corona vaccines).

    • @MarchalisVan
      @MarchalisVan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Things that have value after the purchase like a house isn't really debt, as the house it self should offset it. Infrastructure and social programs should promote growth and therefore allows for more tax revenue down the line. An annoying problem (As with the Tasmania election recently), is with fear. All the liberal party poster had on it was check boxes with, Jobs, education etc, ticked off, no policies required. People simply want to feel safe, and denial within this Australia bubble often will promote that feeling.
      I therefore like these kinds of videos as they do try and focus on what is fair, rather than fear which switches people off.

      That's a tough ask. How many Australians - particularly in regional electorates difficult to reach - understand finance, and have the time & inclination to learn more and think about it? How many Australians are going to ignore the rhetoric and propaganda regurgitated constantly by the media, even unwittingly, from bipartisan politicians who know how to twist the national conversation to their terms?

    • @MarchalisVan
      @MarchalisVan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's only a few core rules that are important. Kind of like "In an economy, you can't make more money, it can only be moved from one place to another" is also an important one I think, though I may have miss quoted a bit :S

    • @TheOrganicOverdose
      @TheOrganicOverdose 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@TechNinja.1701 absolutely, but if the offer isn't there, then the possibility of them learning is definitely zero. Videos like this offer a relatively good visualisation of certain economic policies that have fooled Aussies for decades. Why not expand on that? I have every faith that they would understand and have an interest, but access to the info is not easy to come by.

But everything around as and all the services we have are payed for by thou's that pay the most tax or royaliities. Why owners wealth of companies increase it's because of movement in the share market. Job Keeper I don't know enough about.

    Economics and psychology makes the world go round. With 18 year old ,unskilled labor in the Pilbara peaking at $100/hr a few years ago, and the systemic economic dumping of white collar tertiary educated STEM workers which has massively oversupplied the HR market (creating unemployment for years/decades) I wouldn't expect pay rises to come anytime soon. Adam makes a good point in that inflation is spiraling out of control, which is the result of printing money to pork barrel unionists . This video is a Valuable lesson in Consumer spending ..... unfortunately , the pork barreling of hetro, male, blue collar union members has been massively overdone which has left the socialists and unionists no where to go ...... case in point , the worlds most expensive, least effective submarines being built in Adelaide which no one wants to sail on because they are so dangerous. The submarines were built in Adelaide solely for the purpose of creating jobs for steel bashers. It will cost $400million to pay off the European overlords just to get out of the contract with nothing to show, whilst leaving Australia defenseless .... Adam makes a great argument if the intention is to continue the status quo and kow tow to Chinese overlords in a centrally controlled , iron ore lead ,economic growth . his argument has no traction if the intention is to empower the ASX to find alternatives to grow the economy, whilst pushing the barrow on consumer spending ..... eg empowering the ASX to find innovation driven growth alternatives.... somehow , I dont think the LNP is intending to lean on the ASX to find ways to grow the economy via innovation driven growth, which is another problem

    Adam & team - people are going to ask "where did you get those fancy glasses, and all that champagne? Malcolm Turnbull?" - to stir up the division, resentment, and prejudices between people in regional communities and the city; workers & unions vs activists & academics.
    Instead - try using grassroots level cardboard props & puppets, or paying for an animator? It's vital that messages like "Follow the money" and "The bipartisan oligarchy doesn't work for the Australian people" gets to everybody - so it needs to be as simple and uncluttered as possible without giving own goals to said oligarchy to exploit.

      @david M you make a very good point David. People on the left have no unity, no unifying narrative. They turn on each other for the most superficial reasons. I think a lot of people fundamentally want the same outcomes but then attack each other and stop any progress from being made because they disagree on style.
