- 08.31.2021 | 9:30 AM | SOUTH LAKE TAHOE - Firefighters spent Tuesday morning defending homes as raging flames lick the side of the homes. Firefighters were bracing for predicted high winds in the afternoon. The entirety of South Lake Tahoe remains evacuated. The Fire continues to grow out of control, fueled by the high winds and heavy timber.

I've heard a lot of people complaining how their Tahoe Labor day plans are ruined due to the Caldor fire. Oh please. If anyone deserves some good R&R, it's the brave men and women who are making sure your vacation homes are still standing.

@@trillmoney3147 I don't live anywhere near there. I still volunteer for other causes over 10hrs a week and I still have to make a living🤷 And I'm definitely pro-tax hikes to more better fund wildland firefighters. *Making churches pay taxes would be a great way to help fund many things too
It is pure selfishness of their part. A lot of what is wrong with the USA today - me, me, me and not caring about others...including the heros who are busting their rears to save lives and homes.

One of our engine crews, myself included, was in Christmas Valley the afternoon and night of the red flag conditions that Capt. Wade outlines at 7:35. We were embedded in the Rainbow Rd neighborhood as the fire jumped the valley onto the E side of Hwy 89. The entire W facing slope uphill from Hwy 89 caught fire and crowned, making its way to the peak, in all of about 15 minutes. Between sundown and 5:00AM, our engine caught 10 different spot fires as big as 20x20 in the floor of the valley. Shout out to any other resources assigned to 89, Blitzen, or S Upper Truckee, it was one heck of a party.

(NOTES): How do you know if you're saved, sealed, and rapture ready? You'll find a statement underneath "The ABC's of Salvation" and below it states "Admit you are a sinner in need of a savior." Don't speak out to Jesus admitting all your sin's. If you do so, you will not be saved. Because you're basically spitting at Jesus face; which he did the works on the cross and shed his precious blood for your past, present, and future sins.
You have to (understand) and (believe) the gospel. The gospel scripture in the King James Version (KJV) Bible is: (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). You have to have head knowledge; which is to (understand) the gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Next, you have to have the heart knowledge; which is to (believe) the gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Once you've done both, you had a change of mind. This is called metanoia. Therefore, you agreed with the works that Jesus Christ from Nazareth did on the Cross of Calvary for your sin's; which is your (past, present, and future sin's). After you spoken to the Lord that you (understand) and (believe) the gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1-4), you are saved, sealed, sanctified, and rapture ready. You'll never lose your salvation period! Jesus has your soul, not Satan.
Great footage of those specific firefighters working hard to keep the fire back from the home.
On scene I would like to see time/date stamps for the interviews at least. For the locals it helps. Great work.
Trying to save a structure that has zero defendable space around it, homeowners in these fire prone areas really need to start being way more proactive about helping firefighters defend their properties.
A lot of these homes are hillside. It's very tricky. You need trees to prevent mudslides.

I suggested they clear out all the deadwood, but my idea was shot down when they realized it would endanger a rare species of termite.
That is California. A few years ago they divert water from the farmers in the valleys of California because it might endanger minnows. So farmers lost their farms, people went hungry for stupid minnows....and termites - let them die.

I live in the Sierra tract south shore and u know our home is safe because of you fighting the fire and nothing has been stolen because of the police going up and down patrolling our neighborhood and neighbors

Outstanding job firemen! Where is your air support? You have a couple of guys and a couple of hoses for that major fire? The wildlife running scared breaks my heart. All those trees that took years and years to grow just gone. This is horrible to put it mildly. I can't even imagine anyone watching their home being so close to fire like that. Why don't they take the jail birds that they are letting go and put them on the fire to help? Surely they could do some good with a shovel. Have them help fight the fire in a way it would show them giving something to the community.

I’m an animal lover and kinda feel bad for that coyote but they recently killed to of my friends dogs so I’m not as sad about it as I would have been.
Please explain the difference between the coyote that killed dogs and dogs that would cheerfully kill that coyote given the chance. (They are basically the same animal and can mate and have fertile off spring)
@@trimule her dogs were small breeds. They were attacked for food. She was devastated and now keeps her dogs on leashes when outside. She lives on 10 un fenced acres in the foothills. I have 5 dogs. Mine and all of the dogs I’ve known and know now would never try to kill another dog or coyote. I don’t know what dogs you know that would do that.

It's our job to make sure we keep our animals out of harm's way. If a human's dog is killed by wildlife, it's the human's fault, not the wildlife that's just trying to survive.

@@trimule our dogs are fully trained. We are not stupid. There are breeds that can have an aggressive side but it’s normally the owners fault. Poor training or they are miss treated. My friends husband was a dog handler in the service, a canine police officer and then a dog trainer when he retired. They weren’t Shepard’s. I’ve had many of those breeds. A few of my dogs have been mixed with pit. My only big dog right now is a Shepard, husky mix. I know only because we had his dna done. He’s a very well behaved , lovable dog. Of course a Feral dog would be different. We don’t have those where I live.
These firefighters must not be CalFire. Last year, as the big fire in Santa Cruz raged through the forested hills, CalFire told home owners that they could not put their burning homes out because they didn't have the equipment to hook up to the fire hydrants and because they weren't structure firefighters...
