I’m really sad about this whole debacle. I really wanted on of those flak 5 or flak 10s. I’m sure a lot of fields in japan would allow the flak 5 at least. My thinking was since even duster gas is getting expensive out here was to somehow convert it to hpa using co2. Anyhow I hope they figure something out and either sell the patents and designs to someone like kjworks or someone.
I hold out hope someone gets the designs and rights to the 40mike, bang 22, and the flak. I absolutely love my 40mike when using it in my KA m79 sawed off
They were set to ship me a new timer head for my Tornado 2. Then poof vanished. I pulled it apart but it appears the timer head is not a DIY fix as it is pressed into the aluminum housing. Sad times.
I've been ignoring this whole thing because I honestly just thought it was typical airsoft drama, but after this and jets video I guess not. Gets hard to sort out the real issues when people have created drama for dramas sake in the past.
I waited so long to comment because I wanted as many of the facts to come out as possible and for AI to make a public statement to somebody. I definitely didn’t want to wade into typical “he said she said” drama without having both sides have the chance to explain their situation. Too right about typical nonsense drama, so I wanted to be careful.
Nice video, I was actaully waiting for my flak, I was supposed to do a collab with them, I wondered why they stop writing to me.. But yeah I heard some behind the scenes they were "closed down".. anyways would love to do a table talk one day ;)!
Good video. Unfortunately these are tough economic times all around. It is easy for businesses that are used to operating in good times to get in over their heads when the tough times come.
@@gdarcyie Airsoft Innovations probably thought they could generate more orders and thus fix their cash flow issues by prioritizing influencer deliveries.

The tornado grenade coming out is the 'halcyon' days of airsoft? Christ I'm old... I still remember when Shoei was a big deal, TOP was the only manufacturer of support weapons, and all G&P made was internals, and either you owned a Marui or wish you did.
Just to sight the source first, its just the talk amongst Canadian players at different games I've heard. It's suspected the FLAK project was more of an undercover kickstarter, that'd use preorders to cover the costs of actual production. With the sudden inflation of CNC materials, the flaks building costs increased by alot leaving AI unable to continue its project. This is has left alot of Canadian (and ofcourse other) retailers in a tough place. Refunding many pre-orders out of pocket, and taking huge loses. They were apart of a gamble, in which they never knew they were taking.
A few months ago, when I tried to get a propane adapter to replace my broken one, and every single AI one was out of stock everywhere and so were all the other products like the tornado and even oils, I knew something was fishy. Why gamble all of it on a gun that looks ugly? (like base it on a real shotgun at least to hype up), on a 40mm grenade that you can't use and the bang22s (they are a good design but limited market, many fields are cautious with it because in the end, it's still pyro). Every smart business knows to keep the tried and true products on shelves first so you still get an income.
As an airsoft player, how come "the coolest fucking loadout ever" always ends up being "the most impractical thing ever" lol. I'd LOVE to see more smg's and ESPECIALLY SHOTGUNS have uses and a place in Milsim, but they need to be practical and at least semi efficient to be of use. Hell, one day I WILL drop the cash to make an HPA TM KSG12 TAPP m4 adaptor shotgun bastard monstrosity, and I pray to the gods of Metal that its' worth it in the end.
Can confirm it is indeed with it. Just finished mine last week. Fun as hell on the field. Taking it to Lion Claws in May so we’ll see how it handle at a Milsim.

40mikes we’re cool but I got out of airsoft a little bit after those were released (whenever that was). Stuff was too expensive in airsoft and there’s barely any fields around now.
This case reminds me a lot of WW2 germany with their wunderweapons, they knew making those would cost them a lot, but they believed tbose things could change how things were going for them.
While I agree with your thoughts and that is how I personally run business, there is a discussion to be had about using pre orders to fund things. While it is a risky way to run business it can be very succesfull. Tesla for example was weeks before running out of money after taking pre orders for their first car and luckily they figure it out. In this situation it wasn't handled correctly (obviously), if they had done pre orders as crowd funding with the understanding that it may not work out, things would have gone better. Like you said, communication is key.
My mentality is that just because it can work doesn’t make it a good idea. Those types of gambles are always a crazy story when they work out, but customers shouldn’t be deceived into holding the bag if you can’t deliver unless that understanding is communicated very explicitly upfront. So it does all come back to communication.
Tesla has gotten plenty of federal funds to stay in the game before it blew up hugely on the stock market. That's something you want to take into account talking about how to run a company and managerial skills, tho 😅
Pre order money is exactly what kickstarters are and we don’t blink an eye about taking a risk on those all the time. Basically this shotgun was a Kickstarter and people took a risk by supporting the company to produce it. Is AI had simply stated it as a Kickstarter then this anger would be non existent as people would have been prepared for the fact that they were taking a risk. Very sad to see small businesses like this going under.
I would have been interested in the FLAK, if it had actually launched (despite how ugly it was). I got burned on preordering too many times with video games to preorder anything in airsoft, never mind a gun that would effectively be worth two months' worth of spare cash at my income level. Also the 40Mike still gives me PTSD after getting blasted with one filled with .32s. Pretty sure those things joule creeped like hell.
Very sad this shit happened but I always waited for 3rd 4th iteration of a product anyways when it came to pre ordering as you will always have manufactured problems going from prototype to mass production cars, guns, you name it it happens guess it always pays in the end...
You will not as far as I can see for the Tornado 2. Mine had the timer head fail. They were supposed to send a replacement then poof gone. So I took mine apart and it appears to have the timer head/valve pressed into an aluminum housing. Unfortunately I dont have the required items to measure their housing properly or I would make new ones as I am a machinist. Would be nice if their drawing got released haha.
While the vibe of this video doesn't sound good for Airsoft community, hopefully, new up and coming small company will see this as an opportunity and swoop in.

Something people tend to forget is that sometimes a company is blind sided and they don't lie with an intent, they get hit with an abnormal problem and fail to meet a previously agreed upon deadline. Now if they knew they were going out of business and took orders with full knowledge that they weren't going to fill them, then I'll retract my statement, but at this point, I'd happily believe 2020 is to blame until I'm proven otherwise.
Love my 40 and Master Mike grenades where I can use them, sad to see AI go. The taginn launch able stuff took the market they hoped the mike grenades would occupy, and I feel like taginn throwables kinda phased the tornado out to some extent. I'm still not sure how something that can fly 300 feet and blows up is cool with insurance companies, but a shower grenade on steroids is a no-go. The only truly important thing is that the 30th of July is gonna be fucking awesome!
No changes a good year on and havent heard anything, Really hoping someone at least takes on the airsoft grenades AI made cause it would be nice to get access to the cyclones again, I know there are places in Canada that still have them in stock but for us in the UK they are all sat as "Pre-Orders" or "Out of stock" for the grenades so its a bit of a pain cause I grew up seeing the cyclones and went "I Want those" now Im actually able to get them, they arnt available and there arnt that many similar grenades - Only main reason I started looking into them now is because I realised it would theoretically be cheaper with reusable grenades rather than dropping near £60 Per game day, adding onto the 2-3 game days a month, it gets expensive :/
Wow; did not know this was going on. When I first heard of the Flak shotgun I checked it out on their website and yeah; 600USD... no thanks (especially when I recall how much fun is getting a kill with a cheap 3 shot spring shotgun). On a different note; can you tell me what microphone are you using for your videos?
Sad to hear. Anybody know of a compatible gas valve for the tornado 2? Got one during covid late last year and it's leaking badly. Tried emailing them right before all this blew up, guess this is why they never got back to me.
I havnt found the gas valve online yet. But if your timer head ever fails you are screwed. After tearing mine down I found that the timer heads plunger/pin is a pressed in unit into the aluminum housing. Seems to look like a replace entire head if it fails situation. They were supposed to ship me a new head but poof they vanished.
I have always been puzzled by the whole "pre-order" mentality that is rampant in the airsoft business. What other industry sells "pre-orders" to front production costs?
Too bad I don't have a 40 mm grenade launcher because that means I miss out on the 40 Mike and the Master Mike. I only vot my first airsoft aeg last month. It gave me a lot if trouble because they fucked up my downgrade. They sent me my aks74u with a missing spacer on the guide rod. That meant the bolt wouldn't go all the way forward and when it did, the dust cover wouldn't stay shut and just the force of the gun shooting wound open it. After that blunder my hours at work got cut severely. Not even being officially scheduled anymore. I shouldn't have to ask to work. Im also not getting a 40mm any time soon. I can get a stand alone 40mm pistol but not an underbarrel for obvious reasons.
Probably gambled all their money on Crypto and bought digital monkey pictures... Sad... really sad...I love their products only if they were honest about their business they could have more success like what Tagin is doing. Airsoft projectiles is such a niche market.
