The ride opened to the public as Europe’s tallest and longest Dive Coaster, a type of ride defined by one element, it’s signature vertical drop. So glad to see these dive coasters being built more and more. The drop on them has to be 1 of the best elements on any rollercoaster in the world. Im just surprised more dont have deeper tunnels like oblivion at alton towers. Most nowadays are at the bottom of the drop rather then when the tracks still vertical. Especially for the demonic noise of the box B and M track in a concrete tunnel. Love these vids!

We already have 5 themed rides mechanica is a steampunk themed ride, loke is a norse mythology themed ride balder is also norse myhtology themed valkyria norse mythology as well and helix is a futuristic themed ride

I would love to see another dive coaster with a proper "drop into darkness" effect like Oblivion has, but followed with a proper rest of the ride, not just a return to the station. Valkyria and Yukon Striker, with their shallow tunnels, are better than Valravn or Griffon, but they still lack that sense of not knowing where the track is going to go. I imagine it's difficult to build a tunnel deep enough for that effect, which is why nobody's done it yet.
I couldn't agree more. Oblivion still has the best drop on a ride for me and that tunnel is the main reason, it's really awesome!
Most other parks don't have that strict height restriction either

I kinda miss Kanonen. Although it was a bit jerky, I found it to be quite fun. Especially the launch made it for me.

I was on it at the end of May. It is an ok ride very smooth but helix is on another level compared to it.
Baron 1898 is the best Dive coaster I've been on as the theming is incredibly.

Even though it's a good fit for the park and a good ride I only got 2 rides on it. I preferred helix and balder over this. I have also no clue why they build a new locker system and not one comparable to the ones at balder and helix. Getting a ticket is a mess and it makes you wait longer
One of my best adventures! All those mythology theme rides are wonderfull. But Valkyrie is astonishing!
Glad they improved the vest restraints. I’ve never ridden a dive coaster or gotten the opportunity to. Vertical lift hills and drops are the only elements that still freak me out. t
Valkyria has by far the most comfortable seating of all Liseberg coasters.
I have ridden it and The drop was awsome! Really fun ride!

It's great. It was unfurtunate still closed when I visited Liseberg the summer of 2018. But I had the chance to ride it during Lisebergs X-mas season 2018. Valkyria was open and barely no queue line at all! So I rided it twice. :-)
The air was so chilly. For the 90 degree drop I had to cover my face with my scarf. ❄️

rode it 15 times on my vacation to sweden it was so good, the drop is i think the best out there and the restraints were so comfy. the hill even gave airtime

I was very lucky to get my first 4 rides one day before media day. It was a Thursday. And I love it.
I was a bit nervous the first ride cause i got a front row seat. But i do what i always do. Stop think and just do it. I can do all thinking later :)
I cannot believe how far the dive machine has come since Oblivion. The pride of having that ride when it was a jewel in the crown of UK parks is outweighed by the jealousy that all these amazing evolutions are so far away!

It's great and the lines usually aren't too long. Just try and avoid Saturdays!
I have ridden it about 5 times, since I live in gothenburg, but honestly, Helix is much more fun

Yes but also no ha ha. Oblivion isn't very tall off the ground, but has a huge drop :)

Looks good, the dive coasters have an amazing drop it's hard to make them as thrilling as regular coasters though after the initial drop because they have to take such wide turns due to 8-10 across in each car. I bet one with only 4 across would kick serious utt and could do more inversions, perhaps a double launch after the drop and make it longer. Rode Sheikra on opening day also Griffyn and Valravn, Valravn is the best of the 3 IMO

No, almost all of the drop is above ground. The underground section is maybe 5 to 10m deep - nowhere near the same depth as Oblivion at Alton Towers. That's not to say, however, that this a bad ride - it is still enjoyable... mainly for the stunning views over Gothenburg.

It is almost a copy of the Baron 1898. That's a dive coaster located in the Efteling, Kaatsheuvel in The Netherlands

Do you think it is better than Oblivion at Gardaland? I didn't have the chance to ride Valkyria yet cause my last visit to Liseberg was back in 2014 (for Helix lol), but I enjoyed Oblivion a lot.

Gothenburg is basically built on a big swamp so I think that's why it was hard to build the tunel

I'm watch this because I was mainly confused about a roller coaster that looks exactly like Shiekra at Busch Gardens Tampa

It looks so scary! Dive coasters are definitely my most feared rollercoaster type. Going to Alton Towers in a few weeks, trying to build up the courage to go on Oblivion. Any advice for overcoming my fear?
Ride some of the other attractions at the park before coming to Oblivion to build up some confidence :)
Is the layout of Valkyria the same as the layout of the ShieKra in Busch Gardens, Tampa FL?
It's not, Valkyria doesn't feature the 2nd vertical drop that ShieKra does :)

Griffon's 3 rows of 10 absolutely YANKS you over the dive. These 6 row new ones are so mild. They are ok though

Do you know why they replaced Kanonen? It seems to have been a cool, intense and novel ride on a small footprint, whereas Valkyria may be the tallest and longest, but in the end it is extremely similar to any other Dive Coaster in layout.
A cool ride, but why place it at the cost of one that you already have and is just as cool? Was it maintenance/reliability? It is an Intamin Accelerator after all.

Kanonen was rough as hell and not a very popular ride. The best part was the launch and the rest was meh. Seeing the recent popularity with dive coasters, Valkyria was probably meant to compete with coasters such as Baron and Oblivion, but missed the mark.
I think helix is the reason why and for 2 reasons
1. Helix increased the ammount of visitors significantly, and because kanonen didin’t have good capacity, it often got a long wait so people were turned off by thet
2. Helix is also a launch coaster, but is way longer, has more inversions, has better airtime, is smoother and it has way better capacity. So people were drawn to helix rather then kanonen which was an fast paced and intense but short and rough.
Yes Kanonen’s launch may be better but other than that helix does everything better
