He literally goes from bad version of Otto to Joe Pesci to Kennedy throughout. He even says stuff that Pesci or Kennedy would say. Didn’t have a handle on Otto impersonation. Whole thing was half baked
It must be soul-crushing for Jay to know that all of his success comes from emulating those that are more successful than him. Even the stories he tells are just stories about other people. He’s quite literally the most successful nobody in history.
I was the warmup comic for 6 seasons of Last Comic Standing. Jay did one of Otto's jokes during a taping. I confronted him. He replied with the equivalent of "Who cares?"
I like how he knows he stole the line but still antagonizes the guy about it. I remember Jays special when he said it and I was like I know ive heard that somewhere before
Otto: ha ha ha... Cute... I want some toast... Hangs up. Jay continues. Otto eats his toast and had some coffee. It was a good morning. Then he took a fantastic poop. 😊
Of course Opie is like “ this is the hardest I’ve laughed in a long time “ of course it is Opie ! You have the sense of humor of a writer for Will and Grace . Opie never should have been allowed to host a comedy radio show 😴😴😴
jay mohr wants the best of both world's as a comic. he wants all the commercial success in the world. he also wishes he was as critically loved by fans and peers as louis ck or otto. he has decent commercial success and decent respect among peers, but not having alot of either is obviously driving him crazy
This has Opie's stink all over it. His uncomfortable habit of trying to cause conflict between others.. The way he put the responsibility on Steve for calling Otto, just reeks of Opie
Just to be clear, for no reason since nobody cares, I think the show was successful because of the people in it, including Opie. Listening to his insecurities dictate his moods, his jealousy & hearing the insane level of cringe left lingering in the dead air, after he brags about how much better he is than Howard, these things made it fun for me. I never cared for Opie's sarcastic laugh though, I can't ignore that dumb obnoxious laugh, or the embarrassing overuse of the soundboard
For sure it fucking stinks. It was probably some vengeance for something Otto said to him. The shows without Opie were much better. I’m not saying he didn’t play a role in it he was there and of course key part in the creation but when he was gone it ran like a modern podcast...way ahead of its time
I just listened to the 2003 show where they roasted Jimmy’s 10 year old stand up from 1993-1994 and Vos made a joke about Jay Mohr stealing jokes. I can’t remember how he phrased it, but he was definitely insinuating that Jay was a joke thief.

does he even need to fight back? i mean jays whining about other people calling him a joke thief for something that kind of was theft anyway. otto didn't even say it in the first place, so why would he care. plus hasn't jay gotten shit for stealing from otto before?
9:30 It’s well known that Jimmy doesn’t like to bash comics, but you can tell he was ready to lay into Jay after he called him out for not taking sides. He definitely didn’t like Jay goofing on Otto like that, especially when he was calling him a half Danish Jew junkie, but he was trying to stay out of it. Otto was one of Jimmy’s close friends and he was definitely on his side. I don’t think I heard Jimmy laugh during that entire conversation. I wish this would’ve turned into a Jay vs Jimmy clip.
If you notice on that one, Colin did the silent treatment toward him, as well. There was an underlying subtext there and both Colin & Otto cut right to Jay's heart & said a million words without saying a thing.
So, what's the difference between stealing jokes, and making most of your act verbatim recitations of other comics jokes? It's ok as long as it's accompanied by a half shitty impression of the originating comic's voice?
i had higher expectations for that, and i didnt know everyone hated jay,did u guys hear him when he was in studio with ray liotta and john cena? he was fucking brilliant
All these comments trying to seriously analyze this conversation are so ridiculous. It's one guy doing an inane conversation and another guy not playing along. It was a very funny moment.
@boothesquirrel No Otto indeed did complain about jay stealing his line after he heard about it from friends, it was a while ago, but no one cares cause it makes for hilarious radio. He's not even really calling otto out, he's being funny. And it's working, Otto laughs. The awkwardness and Otto having nothing, sort of became the bit, definitely didn't throw jay off, he stayed funny and started riffing on the lack of a conversation. It's weird you don't get this
Anthony was so good at keeping a bit going. And he had a great sense of humor and a NATURAL laugh, and it kept everyone else going, et cetera. Opie just has a laugh that sounds phony and forced. And poor Jimmy today without Anthony... it's harder for him to be funny because he was at his best with Anthony encouraging him and laughing WITH him. Opie is just a nothing for Jimmy (and humor).
I'm so glad I don't watch Opie and Anthony, if this is one of their funniest calls, that's pathetic. The reason why Jay Mohr is so easily offended when someone says he stole their act is because, frankly, Jay Mohr has never had a funny original act, he has stolen every act that has worked for him. By not responding, Otto is not giving Jay the validation he is craving.
"He's doing the puppet?"
That ended it right there. Winner by Knockout, Otto.
