Thankyou, you gave me the confidence to propagate some cuttings in summer and start a currant hedge. Your presentation is very calm and encouraging!

Sara, thank you for today's video. I thought currants could only be cut in winter. After I harvest this coming season, I am going to try to take cuttings in the way you have shown. I have red, champagne and black currants. I had a beautiful crop this past year, and I put them in the freezer. I am sad to say, I do not know what to do with them. If you have any suggestions, or if you could tell me which type is the best one to have, as I see you like the black one best, I will try cuttings of that one. Have a great today! Spring is coming. Catherine

So sad that nobody has replied to your question! I hope you have found plenty of recipes for your currants.
As Sara said in this video, blackcurrant jam is magnificent. On yoghurt, with rice pudding or custards, baked in puff pastry tarts or shortbread slices, and on toast, l love it. It has great nutritional benefits. You can also make syrup to pour over ice creams etc, or to mix with hot or cold water, or milk, for refreshing drinks. And wine!
Red currants are often made into translucent jelly. But I hate to throw away the bulk of the fruit. I prefer to make jam with the whole berries, or make them into a puree by sieving out the seeds.
A favourite way to eat them is to make red currant meringue pie. Like with lemons, but exchange the lemon juice with crushed red currants. Fabulous!
