Put some apple cider vinegar and sugar in a mason jar with a squirt of dish soap on top (don’t mix it in) and that should work to trap the fruit flies. I just had them and that was the only thing that worked for me!!

I love your Halloween decorations and your reactions to them. the little flies could be fungus gnats from your houseplants? If you see them around your plants that'll be what they are and the lay their eggs in moist soil, so best way to combat them is to cover the top of the soil with some decorative gravel etc..
Also, I've had a bit of a light cough and funny dry throat the past couple of days, now today I've started losing my voice and been on the Lemsips and I know quite a lot of other people who have also been ill, so lots going about right now :(

For the fruit flies, put vinegar in a glass and cover it in clingfilm and then stab some small holes in the top! put the glass somewhere where the flies mostly hang out
