Fun fact: I was sitting on the chair where the character Gwendolyn was at. One of the staff came up to me before the sketch and told me to leave the seat so an actor could use it.
Thats interesting, thanks for sharing. I was wondering if they just leave those seats empty for sketches.

@@GenevieveThornton I was told to stand in the back until the bit was over. As I was waiting, more people came and I was like "They got you too, huh?".
We got back to our seats after. It was a good time.

@@hisuave5250 I know! Maybe I'll have better luck next time. The lady next to me (in the black dress) was so exited when she found out she might be on TV, she texted her friends all about it lol.
I don't know if those mustaches never stick or if that's a part of the bit. I bet there's room in the marketplace for a fake mustache that really sticks to your face.

They totally can make them stick if they want to. You notice the fake beards never fall off. It's just that a fake mustache falling off is pretty much always funny. I mean we've all seen it a thousand times and we still always laugh. It's probably one of the most durable gags in comedy.
@@ericjamieson The beards never fall of because you don't contort your chin when you're talking and there's a lot more surface area to apply glue.

I love how Conan acknowledges how dumb his sketches are. It makes them funny on a different level.

Never seen that sketch before. Loved it. If only life was really like that with humorous, cartoon-ish characters just appearing in everyday life. I wish. Also, it was really funny when the sea captain's moustache came off. "It's not great. I'll grant ya that."

I feel like this is Conan's way of seeing if we still find the character interruptions funny anymore..

It was really quick of Conan to come up with “Clearly you’re a character. Your mustache is falling off” and even quicker of the actor to respond with “it’s not great I’ll grant you that..”
Not entirely sure, but I thin this was the last character sketch the show did before it reorganized itself with the half-hour time limit and the smaller stage area.

This was a very honorable and brave anti-fascist sketch against "us" hating on "others" (Jews, immigrants, Mexicans, Latinos, Blacks, Muslims, atheists, socialists, gays etc.).
