To my knowledge there is no footballer in history with as deep a catalogue of screamers as Luc Nilis. This video alone is like 50+ absolute bangers. Hard to believe it's all one man, right, left, free kicks, volleys, chips, outside foot, curlers - every goal imaginable. Should be spoken about more
R9 Said that he is the best player he ever played with. Im sad that as a PSV fan i never watched him live but what a player deserved so much more than what he got out of his career, and his tragic life story after aswell.

Incredible striker. today would be worth 80m... hitting the ball with ease, power and precision with both feet was his best quality. Used to love him back in the 90s..
I'm a PSV supporter since the late 80's. As from then, they had their fair share of top strikers (Gullit, Romario, Ronaldo, Van Nistelrooij), but Nilis was the most elegant of them all. Perfectly two-legged. And a great and humble guy too. Shame that he broke his leg after only one goal for Aston Villa (@3:06).

I was at St James' Park when he scored for PSV against Newcastle in the CL in 1997. He scored a great goal on his debut for Aston Villa but unfortunately suffered a terrible leg break in a match shortly after which pretty much ended his career. That was a terrible shame, it would have been good to see more of him in the English PL.
He was lucky to walk again after that charge from the keeper. Almost his leg cut off.
Would have most probably outgrown Aston and ended up in one of the top teams, shame that injury put an end to it all before it even began.
Pure class and this is when the ball was a lot more heavy and ten times harder than they are today, got to be in the top five strikers villa ever had, shame he only played 3 games and had his leg broken. Footballing tragedy

Seff Bergkamp Agreed, he was as good as Bergkamp. 😜 the fact that he was player of the year in Holland in 95 when Ajax was the best team in the world back then says it all. But he was too humble and loyal to his club. He could have played for the biggest clubs but it didn’t interest him.

Before the great wave of excellent Belgium players we see right now Belgium struggled to produce players of this quality and Luc was the only bright prospect back then. He reminded of Bergkamp with his finesse and striking of the ball . Shame his career was cut short with a nasty injury he suffered in England, still a quality player
Belgium has had alot of great players and prospects in the past tho, i agree that Nilis was one of the best, but he certainly wasn't the only one. Remember the teams that Belgium had during the 70's, 80's and 90's ? There were alot of great players on those teams.
