- The views from the top of this short walk are unforgettable in any weather.
From here you can easily see out towards Thurso, Loch more, Dounreay and the spectacular mountains in the distance.
Several years ago, there was a wild fire that affected one side of this hill but it is a chance for the wildlife and plants to flourish amongst the damage.

It's a very special view up there. The next summit along to the north is the site of an Iron Age hill fort where later a Jacobite survivor of Culloden, a man as I recall named Donald Sinclair hid out. In the mid 20th century the body of a murdered Jacobite was discovered by peat cutters, he had a dagger in his ribs and his sword was buried with him. This was thought to have been the remains of Donald Sinclair.
It's a lovely, easy to out towards Thurso, Dounreay and Orkney (on a good day). That is really interesting, I was aware of the hill fort but not the information about the poor murdered Jacobite fellow. Poor man.
