I got myself a Zebco microlite outfit years ago and its amazing the size of fish you can pull out with tiny outfits, I was on the edge of my seat watching you with that Pike.
Its great you put links to your equipment on here Dan,i am a rebourne fisherman and times have moved on with tackle etc etc i have just bought a DAIWA PROREX XR 150G 8'6 you use and a DAIWA PROREX 4000 FIXED SPOOL REEL rather than a baitcaster reel.I also have bought loads of lures you use, complete with the braid etc etc ....wowo times have moved on since my ABU 506 and mitchell 300 stuff!!! Great videos...you nd Black country piker are the best!
Brilliant rods Tsurinoya, got the proflex for BFS and it's great. Hard to justify spending hundreds on the more expensive rods, they won't catch you any more fish lol.
Nice camera danny great success on the light gear nice pike well fished,i have a savage gear 3 to 10 gram It's a beast of a rod 6ft 6'' It's a pocket batte ship lots of fun on the light gear love it congrats danny, para
I've just bought the Okuma citrix A364 reel and Westin W3 Powercast-T 2nd 8’3” 248cm XH XXH 2-section Casting Rod which u did a video about..... Can't wait to try them out 👍
Ultralight fishing is a lot of fun, personally like my stiff rods so i went with a gunki iron t chooten, s183l 3.5 - 7g, 1 piece. Anyone looking for a budget ultralight rod should check out gunki, they have a bunch of different rods like the light power game, which has a slim blank and goes to about 7g aswell, doesnt feel too bad either. in my opinion some of the best budget rods, they also make some pretty decent mid range rods aswell, if youre looking for a high end one id suggest an illex pepper, or illex puppet master.
@@yep.fishing now using a different rod, but usually max 3g jigheads if im UL fishing. I just need more power to set the hook thats why theres usually a higher rating on the rods. Now using Shimano expride 162L bfs, toppies blue suri, and a g loomis nrx+ 822s dsr for the heavier stuff. Running thicker line than usual, 0.12 tournament evo+ Where a 0.06 is more fitting...
great sport... you can get great rods from ABU -£30 also reels £20 they been making these lure rods for decades.... all the prolific venues i fished over the years always have a good stock of pike.... soon as they cull the pike numbers it kills the fishing with it..its like they go hand in hand a balanced water.... my local lake i go just electro fished in spring, took a few of the bigger carp out for the speci lake..and removed a few pike..... and its ruined the fishing... used to get +10 .. 3lb Bream per course fishing session.... now its about 3 if you are lucky.. .. ..
Brilliant stuff ~ I have a couple of ultralight rod & reel combos that I use almost exclusively when wade fishing and I couldn't be happier with them and I don't think either were as expensive as what you indicated you paid
Try jaxon wolfram titanium traces. I was given some in a tackle shop for free after talking with the lad behind the counter about getting bitten off while perch fishing on 50mm lures. They're absolutely fantastic, almost invisible and as flexible as heavy line is
What canals u fish n where in country?? I just bought a shimano sienna 7ft 10inch spinning rod and reel combo n lures. Can't wait for braid n landing net!!! Peak forest canal I'm local on. Hope to net some 3lbs plus perch this new year!!🤔. Good luck on you're sessions. Kinda jealous tho,, that reel looks nice!!👍
@@yannis9965 how is it bs, the whole idea of drag is to allow the real to take the strain instead of the rod and line. You don't reel against your drag, your basically really and letting line out at the same time that makes no sense. You reel. Lift, then if the fish fights it fights the drag you then reel and lift its simple fishing. You don't reel whilst your drag is going
@@kevinskelton7 I agree, I find it bizarre when people reel against the drag. When the fish is pulling drag I either let it run or tighten the drag slightly. I don't reel in untill it stops so I can try and lift and reel
pike really do like eating tiny fry, i've had an 8lb on a tiny 4cm pink fry... would you suggest using something like lightweight titanium or 40lb flouro leader for the odd chance you'd see a pike on perch lures?
Have you tried ultra light baitcast? Check them out on Aliexpress. Teton rods are good and I've a couple of their BFS baitcast reels....Tsurinoya and Fishband.
Omg I like this videos so much!! I'm subscribed!! I make such videos to but I want a gopro to make my video's better😉 do you know good and a bit cheap gopro??
Enjoyed this informative upload. Out of interest, I have a Zebco Trophy Spin, 7ft.CW up to 8g. I would say this little gem is a budget rod at under £30. It is a very slim blank and its like a little magic wand. Anyone looking for a brilliant budget rod, UL should take a look. Thanks for sharing you knowledge with this overview of tackle. Phil.
Great video mate 👍 was just wondering do you pay each time you go onto the canal or do you pay for a yearly membership to fish on a certain stretch each time? How does it work? Tight lines!
I love ultralight rods my wee 5ft 6 Abu Garcia was only £28 and i caught some lovely trout on it i snapped the end off it one morning just as i was bout to go out for a session 😠😢 i was gutted after that i got a Shakespeare Ugly Stik 6ft light action but i preferred the ultralight but my wife snapped the end off that after a stupid argument and now I'm rodless which is so annoying as im dying to go winter pike/perch fishing 😞 keep up the good work pal take it easy n tight lines. ✌💙👍 from Scotland 👋
What happened to the unboxing video I was looking forward to watching it all day at school came back and it was gone is it my TH-cam or did you delete it 😢😂😂😂 nice video mate
Ultralite fishing is by far my favorite fishing, I caught a 64cm Zander on my ultralite set up last month here in Germany
But if u catch big pike, long fight will kill the fish

I think test passed, very nice combo! I like what you doing, pike fishing is for me the best way to calm down!! 👍👍
The short handed rods always seem like a good idea until you need the extra reach to get out of a snag!
There still 7ft there just thinner

I just got myself tsurinoya elf aijing 7g.amazing rods. Thinking of getting dexterity and proflex
The reels are also good! It's a family business Tsurinoya, you can buy it on Ali express too.
that fight with the medium pike is really what ultra light fishing is all about! so cool!

lol thats a good reel and braid mate. there is much room still to qualify for "budget"
A good rod that Tsurinoya Dragon, i bought one on Ali express and it's a nice rod to fish ul.
I have got the same reel, it is great. Held up well with plenty of salt water exposure this summer with a light rinse, now on local canals.

I don't think a 3.5g low end casting weight is really ultra light. What jigheads or lures are you throwing?

Can I ask, why did you tie the leader directly to the jig head instead of something like and easy clip so you can use more lures ?
What is the braid on the reel?
Ive just bought a Yagi Dam hitting some river spots sunday for the first time using it.
Well done on the pike on the light gear mate!
We dont have line size or weights like you do in the US, will I still catch any fish?
great video , i was wondering are you jigging on the bottom ?
nice setup , and a nice selection of fish too. Video quality is nice too. Thanks for sharing the session. Cheers

Hiya mate great vid 👍 im going lure fishing for the first time ever on Sunday. But does colour of the braid matter atall?
Keep your vids coming bro.....look forward to them & the explanations. When you finally got that pike in the net......was thinking "get in"! Lol
