I cant Believe Lisa Blount died. That's so sad. R.I.P..That really upset's me. I've been a fan since I first saw this movie at the cinema in 1987. I still think this is one of John Carpenter's best. Love it.
I didn't know Lisa Blount passed away before I came here. She was so beautiful... and so young! Did you also see "Dead and Buried"? She's the sexiest zombie ever in this horror flick from the early 80s. I'm speechless. Rest In Peace! About Big John's score, this is the best track from the film in my opinion. So terrifying and inspiring, maybe one of the most terrifying and atmospheric soundtracks in movie history. I can keep listening to this for hours and always be impressed and scared. Wow.
This ending theme actually sounds like the gates of hell have opened for the living dead. I think this song should have been used in one of the resident evil movies as well.
If I had any complaints, it was that they didn't do a good job in highlighting the schism between the faith of the priest and the skepticism of the students. There should have been a more deeper divide between Professor Birack and the Priest at the onset. His opening monologue seemed to be designed to emphasize the philosophical differences between him and the priest.
i love the music Carpenter did in his movie's he always was one of my Fave Director's of movie's if he could i'd like him do a remake of Prince Of Darkness Maybe let Rob Zombie do the music with him and direct it just a thought never happen but still would be cool
Has the passage of time been truly kind to this film? I remembered that this film was absolutely skewered by the critics when it was originally released. I've developed an appreciation for Carpenter's lesser known works in the 1980's such as this and They Live. I know a magazine recently wrote up an article on the 25th anniversary of this film. Not bad for a film that was shot on a limited budget.
Carpenter's horror is better than Craven's.Tobe Hooper did a great job with Poltergeist;I was really impressed with Toolbox Murders by Hooper. Carpenter rules!John's films go straight to the heart of terror and they scare the audience.John and his music are very dark.John seems like a very dark person, just like Tim Burton.
finally noticed that in the scene where the physicist and the priest first meet the prince of darkness in its cannister that right as they are still at the back of the church basement there is a goathead made of 13 little white lights that is framed between the two of them also, in the very last scene where the guy with the porn 'stache is going to touch the mirror to see if he can contact the dead heroine who shoved the prince of darkness back through the mirror it was emerging from there is a portrait directly behind him on the wall of a devil
Donald Pleasence was really great in this movie. Victor Wong was great as well. May they both rest in peace.

Yeah. John Carpenter and Alan Howarth woks so well together. Some of the best horror movie scores ever.

I think this song would have been used in one of the Resident Evil video games as well. Possibly Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.
Lisa... i still love your eyes. Rest in peace... or on the other side? Miss you.
It sounds like zombies are getting ready to take the world of the living as their own. It even sounds like the ending of The Thing.
Great movie😀サイコー✨🎶🎵
Many thanks for uploading this great piece of atmospheric music, Benjamin! Big John still rules.
@writerblaster It's a great piece of music. I always thought it was strange that it got left off of the original soundtrack release.
John Carpenter el mejor creador del suspenso!! , is a great composer.
@joffetime It is (or was) on the original soundtrack as 'Bug Man', I don't know if it still is. I guess it's not.

I totally agree

@p800207 Agreed, vastly underrated movie. Sadly, looks like Lisa Blount passed away on 10/25/10. Rest in peace.
