This is quite a long video and took hours to film, edit and upload; I hope that people find it useful. I've been disappointed with other evolution products, their accuracy has been poor to say the least, how have you found it after 3 years of use,? E.g. It's it easy to adjust the fence by a fraction of a mm? And is the fence reliably 90 degrees? I noticed your washer trick which suggests the fence doesn't sit perpendicular to the bed when locked down, any comments on this?
I don't use it regularly, and don't cut anything that needs a great degree of accuracy. Most of the time I use it for ripping deck boards/skirting boards etc.
Hi I bought a new evolution rage 5s table saw from amazon uk. It is heavy item than thought, but amazon packaging is not good. Upon just taken out of the box and after initial inspection, i found some issues like its Rip fence have some (couple of) scratches, i dont know it will make any kind of issues when cutting like thin cutting in wood? So do i need to ask replacement for rip fence or simply ignore it Also its Guide Rail seems to have loosend (wobble) at the right side, so it moves. I checked at the back to see whether any screws can tightened underneath too keep guide rail tight/ firm with table, but couldnt find any so i didnt fully unbox it after i saw these issues. Is this minor issues can easily fixed or just returned entire unit? I am confusing on what to do as i spent almost 330 pound for it please advise
If it has been damaged in transit you might be better off emailing the seller on Amazon and see what they say about it. I would not unpack it any further if you are not happy with it. The Rage 5 is a great piece of kit BTW.
Thanks for the review! Excellent as ever, covering more aspects than I'd have thought possible. I would never have dreamed of cutting mild steel! I've been toughing it out with an old Scheppach jobbie for years: no fence, no mitre guide, but with patience and a home made fence, you get decent results. I've fancied a new table saw for a while, but just didn't fancy shelling out £500+ on the Dewalt or Makita. I've used both onsite and thought both were gutless and had shitty fences. For half the price, and a decent fence, I'd defo give it a go on your recommendation.
Great review! Thank you for that! Does the blade "wiggle" sideways or would you say it's quite firm? I am asking because with the evolution Rage 2 i am unable to make precise cuts on Square tubes of aluminum (60x60mm with 2mm wall); when it gets to the lower face/wall, the blade starts to deviate to the right.. :/ I would much appreciate your feedback on this or anyone's who has some experience regarding this. The blade is firm, but I did buy an acrylic cutting blade from ebay and noticed that it was buckled- you could only see it when watching the video. My Rage 2 cuts really well, your blade is not damaged is it? Thanks for the comment

I got one if these saws..... Terrible spend a bit more and get a decent one. Mine woukdnt even bevel over to 45°. The saw bed moves. The sliding mitre gauge rattles in the slot making it impossible to do accurate cuts. The 'cut everything' blade is a gimmick and leaves a poor finish with burn marked in wood..... And the bore makes it impossible to get a decent blade without getting a. spacer made. Took all this to customer services and had to make 8 calls to chase up any action over an 11 day period before new saw finally arrived, some 7 days later than originally promised. My advice is leave well alone and spend a bit more on a decent saw. The replacement they sent will actually do a 45°cut now but that's the only improvement. This saw has potential to be good value, but needs much more development and tighter quality control before it will get there. Over all very poor show from evolution tools

Save yourself the hassle and disappointment you would undoubtedly experience after buying this cheap crap and just buy a Dewalt. If you need a jobsite saw, the Dewalt is the standard, not this cheap gargage.
Hi. Great video. I'm looking into buying one of these saw. I've had a couple from screwfix but all became faulty and have had to return them. I'm guessing you've had the saw a few months now. Is it still preforming well. Any issue you've come across with the saw? Thanks.
Thanks David, What went faulty on your machines? I don't use mine every day and to be honest I have not used it for the last 8 weeks due to working 2 plant shutdowns, but the last time I used it the machine was fine. I have cut a lot of acrylic on it (with a special blade) and it's been great. I have not had any issues with it yet.
Can you investigate how accurate the mitre slots in the table bed are both in terms of being parallel to the blade and also the flatness and parallel of the bottom of the slot with respect to the table. Is their any adjustment on the saw mounting arrangement to true up the arbour with respect to the table and mitre slots? Thanks for review👍

Well spotted. It was a faulty blade, which I bought from eBay. You could not see it in real life, but it is clear to see in the video. The blade has since been replaced 👍

Not sure, Evolution seem to make slightly different models specifically for Screwfix, perhaps they are forced to change the model slightly to fit the price that Screwfix want to sell it for (I'm only guessing) Thanks for the comment 👍
Danger, Danger @ 14:52 !! It's not advised to use a vacuum cleaner when cutting metal! Why? Because of the heat during the cutting, sparks can be sucked into the (paper, cloth?) vacuum bag- and then you've got FIRE!
I have just acquired a Rage 5s. You mention dust collection is superb. After every use I find a pile of sawdust on the floor underneath the saw. Did you adjust anything in your set up to improve the dust collection. I have mine rigged up to a festool CT26 vac.
I think I get the same, but when I said the dust collection is great, I meant the vacuum collects most of it and prevents it from being airborne and flying all over the workshop. Thanks for the comment 👍

Thanks. It's fine for what I do, but I'm not a cabinet maker or anything, I just use it for cutting decking, or cutting down plinth's for my mate ( I don't think he has sussed out, to set the cabinets to the height of the plinth) I'm not sure about the T slots, it might tell you on the Evolution website. I'm a little late to comment on this video but I haven't seen it before. I'm thinking of a new saw and this is close to my needs and pockets. I was impressed with the detail you put into the video but right at the end when you were cutting multiple layers the blade had a massive wobble. Was I seeing things? It looked like the blade was about to come adrift.
I think that blade was warped, if I remember rightly, I bought it from ebay and was bought for cutting acrylic. You could not really see the wobble until you got the footage on the computer. If you live anywhere near Darwen, Lancs you are welcome to come and have a go on the saw before you buy one. Thanks for the comment 👍
The blade guard can be a bit of a pain but you can lift it by pushing the dust extraction port (with the push stick, for example) rather than putting your fingers anywhere near the blade.
Yes, I normally have the blade set a bit higher than I would normally, so that the work-piece can slide under the guard without it getting stuck! Thanks for the comment 👍
I noticed on your video and others that whilst doing a rip cut the wood tends to move about at the end its been cut. How can you prevent this or does it not actually affect the cut? Thanks
On the track where the fence connects with the number marking is that loose. On mine it is loose on the left end where the table pulls out and extends.
Great review! A have a few questions 1) do they make an adapter for American outlets or an American version? 2) can you use dado blades in it? 3) do they have a diamond blade for use with this?
Thanks, I'm not sure about questions 1 and 3 so I'll try and find out and will post back in a few days. I don't think you can use Dado blades as they recommend not removing the blade guard from the machine.
Dado blades are illegal on UK (EU) table saws because in order to use them the guard and riving knife have to be removed, and is therefore unsafe. This is not the case in the USA. Because of this, all UK or european table saws are deliberatley fitted with short arbors to prevent their use.
As a woodworker I would love one,but,that blade Guard! If I buy one and modify it ,will the guarantee/warranty be void? Are Evolution planning an updated version with all bugs fixed? As usual a good ,honest review.THANKS😆😆
Thanks Alan, I'm going to modify mine but it probably would invalidate the warranty. Evolution are constantly redesigning and improving their whole range of saws and so I am sure they will make improvements on the next version. Thanks for the comment ;-)

I'm afraid I can't take my camera on site without getting special permission, I also have to do any filming during my lunch (obviously). Once the fence is locked in position there is no play in it. I've rip cut some pieces that were about 3 metres long as the cuts were perfectly square. Thanks for the comment 👍
more ideas for next version:soft start please! better bigger wheels, longer lead, fix that side guard issue and blade guard , all very easy, you got most of it done guys, i reckon my dad would have be happy to give up his old elu site saw (if you fixed what i mentioned, well that and the old geezer has passed on, but i might buy one )

Definitely need a blade guard redesign for thicker materiaks, would be easy to do, also ideally the mains cable could be a socket so you can buy a,longer one. Ive said before the need an elongated hole where the guard mounts to stop the front lifting when the piece is at the rear. Your blade had the wobbles after the lasr perspex for some reason!
Absolutely. I'm not sure about the blade wobble, I never noticed it when cutting and the material was cut ok- perhaps a bit of perspex was stuck to the blade? Thanks for the comment
You could, but you would need several supports/stands. Most saws like this would also need supports/stands. I have cut full sheets on it, but it is not easy. Thanks for the comment ;-)

How have you got on with the non evolution blade. They have made it difficult to use third party blades by their dimensions probably to force people to buy their expensive blades. Thanks James
I've only used it a couple of times, I've been that busy that I don't get time to make much these days. If they wanted to be awkward they could use a small diameter spindle and small bore blades, but they use a large diameter spindle and blade, which means that most other blades will fit this machine, if you use a reduction ring. Sorry if you've answered this before but it seems odd to have a full length rip fence and then rip against a short bolt-on one. Surely a professional saw - which this seems marketed as- would use the full length fence? Am I missing something? Great videos by the way!
It is to prevent the workpiece from binding between the blade and long fence as it moves past the blade. The shorter fence keeps it parallel through the cut and the released i.e cut portion, has room to move withouut binding in the space between the shorter fence and full length fence.
Dewalt is a very good make, but very expensive. Evolution make some great tools that can cut metal and wood with the same blade, which are often much better value for money. I'm not sure about Draper power tools, I have used some of their hand tools and used to buy a lot of them when I was a teenager for working on my car. I still would not hesitate to buy any hand tool that was made by Draper. I'm afraid I cannot compare the Evolution to the Draper as it would mean me purchasing the Draper model and I don't have the space for it, nor the time to make the video. Thanks for the comment
This video is a few years old now, but can you say what happened with the blade wobble at the last shut down? The blade didn't look like it was on the mandrel properly
It was a blade that I bought from eBay, I could not see the wobble until I watched the footage back. Once I removed the blade it was obvious that it was warped. I have since bought another blade, but this time I bought a Trend version, which is great. Thanks for the comment 👍
hi great video really good i know you dint design the saw But just wondering why has it got that bit of metal on the fence why cant you just but up to the long fence? & why has it got that grove along the top thanks
It's a safety feature that reduces the chance of kickback by basically have no fence touching the work piece after it passed the blade, but still allows the main fence to be attached at the front and back on the table.

Ultimate Handyman. I have an evolution mitre saw and it's great for general work and as I have plenty of second hand wood with all too many embedded nails it's ideal. I wanted s saw to rip through the timber too and this blade should fit my table saw just fine, if not, I guess I will have to get the saw too. Thanks for the reply. .
@@ultimatehandyman apparently it’s an EU directive. In order to fit a dado stack, you have to remove the riving blade. I’ll let you know if I make a workaround.
I believe it's to reduce the chance of kickback if the rail isn't absolutely parallel to the blade. By having no fence after the cut the workpiece is less likely to pinch between the fence and the blade, because there's no fence there to pinch with. I've not bought this yet but am considering it. I think this way you get the safety of a shorter fence with the sturdiness of a full fence supported each end behind it.
I ordered this saw in April and got delivery last week. Only problem - the blade keeps going out of square. I have to really force the hand crank to get it square and then after just one cut it's about 1.5 degrees off. Has anyone had this problem or does anyone have a solution?

Like Kev Carguillo below. The Blade wobble at the end of the video. I must admit was a big concern to me. Was it a loose blade or was it something more significant???. I have seen the reply you gave to Kev Carguillo. Wouldn't Evolution replace the Blade??
The blade with the wobble was not the Evolution blade, it was one that I bought from a seller on eBay to cut the acrylic. Having checked the blade it is warped and so will not be used in future. I have since purchased a Trend blade with a similar amount of teeth for cutting acrylic. I'll check my reply to Kev as I'm not sure if I told him the blade was warped as I get hundreds of comments per week. Thanks for the comment
Many Thanks. I must admit iv been looking at The Evolution Rage 5-S table saw with a midrange price for some time now. I think it will be ideal for my little workshop.
Not too sure about the RIP plate fence. Is it intended for all fence cutting? It seems to have far too short of a bearing face to stabilise long cuts ! Anyway, thank you once again for all your skill in presenting this video, and for all the time and trouble you take. Confession ! I have recently purchased one of these units, and admittedly you have to be prepared to put a few hours into building the stand. But the final product is great. It presently resides in the front room due to my workshop being full of wood, will soon sort ! Because of its present location the Wife is not very happy at me cutting any wood at all in the front room.....strictly prohibited. Although I did wonder about always having to use the rip plate fence all the time, look forward to your comments, assuming that I have not been put down by the Wife ! Thanks once again.
The rip fence is designed so that it guides the material to the blade, but does not go past the blade as that could potentially cause a jamming point and kick-back, I think. It's a great machine for the money, I love using it ;-) Thanks for the comment
I notice that when you're ripping, you're pushing the wood slower than I would normally. Is that for demonstration purposes, or are you finding resistance from the motor or the blade when you feed the wood?
I don't do a lot of ripping, so I tend to take my time with it. I'm not sure how this compares to other bench saws as It's a long time since I used one. If you live anywhere near Darwen, Lancs you are welcome to come and have a go with it?
I bought the Rage 5S. First I was excited, so many good reviews. Then, I put it on use. My excitement went down fast. First, the blade was not align (neither perpendicular with the table, neither parallel with the fence) and the wood would get stuck between the blade and the fence, which is a very dangerous situation. I tried to adjust it usual way, but at no moment I couldn't make it to square. Because the blade was not paralel with the fence, the fence tends to move away and the cuts will become highly unparalleled. This actually occurred when I used a thicker piece of wood (above 4cm). On thin material, the cuts were almost ok. On the other hand, the motor is fixed on a sheet of steel, fixed with 4 screws above on the table saw, but you can move it with a finger on the bottom side of the device. The blade moves left and right along with this sheet of metal so I assume during operation can't stay straight anyway. I sent it to service, after two months since I bought it, and they told me it worked perfect. But in case I'm not satisfied with the product, I will be billed 8 hours man-work, because this is how much they spent to adjust it and make 2 cuts. If you ask me, stay away of this.
@@ultimatehandyman I sent it to the dealer. But is not the fence which is the problem. Is the design. Or something is missing, the engine assembly should lock on, stay fixed after the desired angle is chosen. I cut only at 90 degrees, anyway.
Good honest review as always. Where do you get your perspex from? I am looking to make some seconary glazing for a patio door, so need some large sheets.

I've not tried the Bosch, but if you want to cut wood and metal you can only really go for the Evolution. I'm sure the Bosch is a great saw for cutting timber though ;-)
Does the fence fit on the left-hand side of the blade? How well does it rip through 3" by 3", you seem to be cutting through the 3"by 2" fairly slowly. If ripping 4" timber can you saw through from one side and complete the cut by inverting it? It seems to be a better saw than the Fury. Thanks again for an excellent review.
I think you can put the fence on either side but can’t remember 100% I always cut slowly on a table saw as I don’t use one regularly enough to go fast lol. Yes you should be able to cut one cut then flip it over ( I do this a lot on the sliding mitre saw ) Yes, it is much better than the fury.

Yes, there is a major difference between the two machines. I'd definitely get the Rage 5 over the Fury 5 as it's a much better saw, which is why it is more expensive. I love the Rage 5, it's a superb machine!

Don't understand why you are trying to slide the plywood in with the blade set too low, that's why it is hitting the guard.
The guard is there to protect you and help with dist removal, the lower it is the better.

Save yourself the hassle and disappointment you would undoubtedly experience after buying this cheap crap and just buy a Dewalt. If you need a jobsite saw, the Dewalt is the standard, not this cheap gargage.

I don't use mine every day and to be honest I have not used it for the last 8 weeks due to working 2 plant shutdowns, but the last time I used it the machine was fine. I have cut a lot of acrylic on it (with a special blade) and it's been great.
I have not had any issues with it yet.

Can you investigate how accurate the mitre slots in the table bed are both in terms of being parallel to the blade and also the flatness and parallel of the bottom of the slot with respect to the table. Is their any adjustment on the saw mounting arrangement to true up the arbour with respect to the table and mitre slots? Thanks for review👍

Well spotted. It was a faulty blade, which I bought from eBay. You could not see it in real life, but it is clear to see in the video. The blade has since been replaced 👍

Screwfix are now selling the Evolution R255PTS 255mm. Is that an upgraded model to this?
Not sure, Evolution seem to make slightly different models specifically for Screwfix, perhaps they are forced to change the model slightly to fit the price that Screwfix want to sell it for (I'm only guessing)

Why? Because of the heat during the cutting, sparks can be sucked into the (paper, cloth?) vacuum bag- and then you've got FIRE!

I have just acquired a Rage 5s. You mention dust collection is superb. After every use I find a pile of sawdust on the floor underneath the saw. Did you adjust anything in your set up to improve the dust collection. I have mine rigged up to a festool CT26 vac.
I think I get the same, but when I said the dust collection is great, I meant the vacuum collects most of it and prevents it from being airborne and flying all over the workshop.

It's fine for what I do, but I'm not a cabinet maker or anything, I just use it for cutting decking, or cutting down plinth's for my mate ( I don't think he has sussed out, to set the cabinets to the height of the plinth)

I'm a little late to comment on this video but I haven't seen it before. I'm thinking of a new saw and this is close to my needs and pockets.
I was impressed with the detail you put into the video but right at the end when you were cutting multiple layers the blade had a massive wobble.
Was I seeing things? It looked like the blade was about to come adrift.
I think that blade was warped, if I remember rightly, I bought it from ebay and was bought for cutting acrylic.
You could not really see the wobble until you got the footage on the computer.
If you live anywhere near Darwen, Lancs you are welcome to come and have a go on the saw before you buy one.

The blade guard can be a bit of a pain but you can lift it by pushing the dust extraction port (with the push stick, for example) rather than putting your fingers anywhere near the blade.
Yes, I normally have the blade set a bit higher than I would normally, so that the work-piece can slide under the guard without it getting stuck!

I noticed on your video and others that whilst doing a rip cut the wood tends to move about at the end its been cut. How can you prevent this or does it not actually affect the cut? Thanks

On the track where the fence connects with the number marking is that loose. On mine it is loose on the left end where the table pulls out and extends.
No, I don't think mine is loose. If I remember rightly, you have to install that piece yourself?

I don't think you can use Dado blades as they recommend not removing the blade guard from the machine.
Dado blades are illegal on UK (EU) table saws because in order to use them the guard and riving knife have to be removed, and is therefore unsafe. This is not the case in the USA. Because of this, all UK or european table saws are deliberatley fitted with short arbors to prevent their use.
It is sold in the US also. Amazon for one and direct from their Iowa location online.
As a woodworker I would love one,but,that blade Guard! If I buy one and modify it ,will the guarantee/warranty be void? Are Evolution planning an updated version with all bugs fixed? As usual a good ,honest review.THANKS😆😆

Evolution are constantly redesigning and improving their whole range of saws and so I am sure they will make improvements on the next version.

Once you lock the fence in position it is very sturdy. I don't recall there being any movement in it.

Once the fence is locked in position there is no play in it. I've rip cut some pieces that were about 3 metres long as the cuts were perfectly square.

Definitely need a blade guard redesign for thicker materiaks, would be easy to do, also ideally the mains cable could be a socket so you can buy a,longer one. Ive said before the need an elongated hole where the guard mounts to stop the front lifting when the piece is at the rear. Your blade had the wobbles after the lasr perspex for some reason!

You could, but you would need several supports/stands. Most saws like this would also need supports/stands. I have cut full sheets on it, but it is not easy.

I've only used it a couple of times, I've been that busy that I don't get time to make much these days.
If they wanted to be awkward they could use a small diameter spindle and small bore blades, but they use a large diameter spindle and blade, which means that most other blades will fit this machine, if you use a reduction ring.

Sorry if you've answered this before but it seems odd to have a full length rip fence and then rip against a short bolt-on one. Surely a professional saw - which this seems marketed as- would use the full length fence? Am I missing something? Great videos by the way!

It is to prevent the workpiece from binding between the blade and long fence as it moves past the blade. The shorter fence keeps it parallel through the cut and the released i.e cut portion, has room to move withouut binding in the space between the shorter fence and full length fence.

Dewalt is a very good make, but very expensive.
Evolution make some great tools that can cut metal and wood with the same blade, which are often much better value for money.
I'm not sure about Draper power tools, I have used some of their hand tools and used to buy a lot of them when I was a teenager for working on my car. I still would not hesitate to buy any hand tool that was made by Draper.
I'm afraid I cannot compare the Evolution to the Draper as it would mean me purchasing the Draper model and I don't have the space for it, nor the time to make the video.

This video is a few years old now, but can you say what happened with the blade wobble at the last shut down? The blade didn't look like it was on the mandrel properly
It was a blade that I bought from eBay, I could not see the wobble until I watched the footage back. Once I removed the blade it was obvious that it was warped. I have since bought another blade, but this time I bought a Trend version, which is great.

It's a safety feature that reduces the chance of kickback by basically have no fence touching the work piece after it passed the blade, but still allows the main fence to be attached at the front and back on the table.
Very good review, the buckled blade is not good and the guard is a niggle to solve. I hope the blades are not all like that.

The buckled blade was one that I bought from eBay specifically for cutting acrylic. The evolution blades have always been fine ;-)

Ultimate Handyman. I have an evolution mitre saw and it's great for general work and as I have plenty of second hand wood with all too many embedded nails it's ideal. I wanted s saw to rip through the timber too and this blade should fit my table saw just fine, if not, I guess I will have to get the saw too.

Bought one and mostly happy with it. Disappointed in that I can’t fit a dado blade stack to the short shaft.
I don't think they like Dado attachments in the UK, they tend to sell saws where you can't use one!

I too would like to know the purpose of this.
I believe it's to reduce the chance of kickback if the rail isn't absolutely parallel to the blade. By having no fence after the cut the workpiece is less likely to pinch between the fence and the blade, because there's no fence there to pinch with.
I've not bought this yet but am considering it. I think this way you get the safety of a shorter fence with the sturdiness of a full fence supported each end behind it.
I have this saw and never use that secondary short fence,it defeats the point of the superb main fence
I ordered this saw in April and got delivery last week. Only problem - the blade keeps going out of square. I have to really force the hand crank to get it square and then after just one cut it's about 1.5 degrees off. Has anyone had this problem or does anyone have a solution?
I've not had that problem. It might be worthwhile asking their support department, as it could be a problem that they have encountered before.

The blade with the wobble was not the Evolution blade, it was one that I bought from a seller on eBay to cut the acrylic.
Having checked the blade it is warped and so will not be used in future. I have since purchased a Trend blade with a similar amount of teeth for cutting acrylic.
I'll check my reply to Kev as I'm not sure if I told him the blade was warped as I get hundreds of comments per week.

Not too sure about the RIP plate fence. Is it intended for all fence cutting? It seems to have far too short of a bearing face to stabilise long cuts ! Anyway, thank you once again for all your skill in presenting this video, and for all the time and trouble you take. Confession ! I have recently purchased one of these units, and admittedly you have to be prepared to put a few hours into building the stand. But the final product is great. It presently resides in the front room due to my workshop being full of wood, will soon sort ! Because of its present location the Wife is not very happy at me cutting any wood at all in the front room.....strictly prohibited. Although I did wonder about always having to use the rip plate fence all the time, look forward to your comments, assuming that I have not been put down by the Wife ! Thanks once again.
The rip fence is designed so that it guides the material to the blade, but does not go past the blade as that could potentially cause a jamming point and kick-back, I think.
It's a great machine for the money, I love using it ;-)

I notice that when you're ripping, you're pushing the wood slower than I would normally. Is that for demonstration purposes, or are you finding resistance from the motor or the blade when you feed the wood?
I don't do a lot of ripping, so I tend to take my time with it.
I'm not sure how this compares to other bench saws as It's a long time since I used one.

I bought the Rage 5S. First I was excited, so many good reviews. Then, I put it on use. My excitement went down fast. First, the blade was not align (neither perpendicular with the table, neither parallel with the fence) and the wood would get stuck between the blade and the fence, which is a very dangerous situation. I tried to adjust it usual way, but at no moment I couldn't make it to square. Because the blade was not paralel with the fence, the fence tends to move away and the cuts will become highly unparalleled.
This actually occurred when I used a thicker piece of wood (above 4cm). On thin material, the cuts were almost ok.
On the other hand, the motor is fixed on a sheet of steel, fixed with 4 screws above on the table saw, but you can move it with a finger on the bottom side of the device. The blade moves left and right along with this sheet of metal so I assume during operation can't stay straight anyway.
I sent it to service, after two months since I bought it, and they told me it worked perfect. But in case I'm not satisfied with the product, I will be billed 8 hours man-work, because this is how much they spent to adjust it and make 2 cuts.
If you ask me, stay away of this.

@@ultimatehandyman I sent it to the dealer. But is not the fence which is the problem. Is the design. Or something is missing, the engine assembly should lock on, stay fixed after the desired angle is chosen. I cut only at 90 degrees, anyway.

I've not tried the Bosch, but if you want to cut wood and metal you can only really go for the Evolution.

Does the fence fit on the left-hand side of the blade?
How well does it rip through 3" by 3", you seem to be cutting through the 3"by 2" fairly slowly. If ripping 4" timber can you saw through from one side and complete the cut by inverting it?
It seems to be a better saw than the Fury.

Yes, there is a major difference between the two machines.
I'd definitely get the Rage 5 over the Fury 5 as it's a much better saw, which is why it is more expensive.

Hello, may I ask what saw blade is that?
It is the standard Evolution blade that was cutting the wood and metal, but I swapped to a special blade for the acrylic cutting.
