This movie has been obsoleted by tasvideos.org/4.... TAS originally published on 2021-07-08.
Just like its predecessor (tasvideos.org/M..., Spider-Man 2 is based on the 2004 movie of the same name, featuring Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker and Alfred Molina as Otto Octavius. It was the first open-world superhero game, and had brand new physics-based web swinging.
The game expands the plot of the film, where the player web-slings and crawls through a virtual New York. Hero points advance the plot and can be collected by doing good deeds and beating up bad guys.
Natetheman223 web-slings through the game as fast as only a spider can, collecting just enough hero points to complete the story and dispatching villains at record speeds. Some Shocker fights are skipped entirely by pre-damaging him to near-death.

This game looks pretty great for its age. Developers did a pretty good job on almost non-existent loading times as well.
the problem with spider man 2, is that it doesn't have character shadows, and it doesn't have npc's, which leaves the game a little empty.

@@CrystalGreymon yes, but when I saw the spider-man ps4, I was impressed, it has several npc's, very good, while this game released in 2004 seems a bit empty, despite being a great game, understandable due to the technical limitations.

The funniest thing in this game for me is that if enemies fall from high enough, they will bounce. Knowing this, once you unlock the ability to carry and piledrive enemies, carry them to the top of the empire state building, charge jump, and piledrive them from the maximum height all the way down to the streets.
I've done that with a purse snatcher and because I got too far away from the crime scene, he was classed as escaping near the top and just vanished.
I've always felt like this game was ahead of its time by multiple years
@@MarsofAritia This game released in 2004. Personally, I think its mainly the smoothness of exploration in RPGs (through the web sling mechanic). Other games didn't really have open world, which also was able to be loaded seamlessly aswell.
@@MarsofAritia You know what, I stand corrected! I've never been a fan of the GTA games and haven't really played them.
Upon further inspection of games around that time, loading times were sometimes still quite long (like Oblivion years later for example).. but technology/games in general took quite a leap in that period year it seems.. which is likely why I thought that Spiderman 2 had some stunning improvements to prior games I had been playing at the time.
I believe that Spider-Man 2 was a major influence on the recent Spider-Man game for the PS4 - you can even hear the pizza delivery music if you stand outside one of the pizzerias in the latter

late reply but the hero punch slows time, making all in game sound (including voices) pitch shifted downward significantly

Is it just me or does it sound like Peter's VA really phoned it in with this game?
It's actually Tobey Maguire.
He could have phoned it in. Maybe the voice direction wasn't very good... Who knows. Some lines during the combat sound great. But anything in cutscenes or between missions does kinda suck.
I was thinking that too, honestly a lot of the voice acting in this game is pretty terrible but Peter himself is the worst by far. Shocking to learn it was actually Tobey Maguire himself, he sounds so bored and lifeless
