Great explanation of both subjects. Bending is the way to release the emotion you’re trying to relate to the listener. With true bends and use of dead space where a singer would be drawing a breath, it’s how David Gilmore makes a guitar really sing.
That made good sense to me, I dont bend much, but maybe thats because I have always used one finger instead of 3 and its been uncomfortable- will have to give your method a try.
It's all about control 1 finger may not have been giving you that comfort you needed or even the confidence to perform it without it feeling like it's just not right Give it a try and see if it makes any difference 👍
