No question the most unreal intro to a show I've ever been to. I saw them in a tiny back room right after Obzen was released, but I finally got to see the full light show with all the atmosphere a few months ago in Bristol on this tour. This intro absolutely blew us all away. Totally dark room and then they're just there above you, pulsing and disappearing like evil ancient gods. Still gives me shivers
These guys always live up to their reputation. I only wish I knew other musicians that were interested in playing this level of advanced/abstract music. I first saw Meshuggah in 2002 when Nothing had just come out. I had to go to this little basement venue that was underneath a bar to see them because they really weren't known here in the USA at the time. Even before they had all the super tight special effects and high tech gear, they would always put on a flawless show and blow the other bands away.
Absolutely. When they toured with SYL, it felt like it could never get better back then. The first notes of Stengah, and bodies just flew. Fast-forward to now, and I absolutely love how they’ve paved their own road to a more elegant and polished live environment. It’s all I ever wanted for them, but better because I never thought it’d pan-out as it has. Legends.
@@eyemoeba prefer small venues anyways. Not only because you can find quite interesting music there. But becauze it is also a much more intimate experience between the band & audience. I recently saw Rhapsody of Fire when they came to Boston a month or so ago. The bass player, towards the end, got off the stage and joined us in the mosh. _Mid-song!_ He was bumping fists when he had sustained bass notes in the song! Coolest sh¡t i ever saw!
I had the privilege of seeing this very intro and song at Brutal Assault 2023. The best thing I've ever seen a live band do and overall just an other worldly experience.
Dude. Make it happen. Just make sure it’s indoors and at night. Saw them my third time at an amphitheater before sundown and was robbed of the epic light show and anything under 100hz. But of course, they still crushed nuns.
@@davecrupel2817 yeah it's possible but it's improbable that it would sound like this one because of how many variables there are. This is beyond insane, the way we see nothing but silhouette till Jen’s starts screaming, then we finally see them
Best album and concert opener for sure
@@SterlingSimmons22 I always thought minds mirrors and in death is life was a great opener but they always play that in the middle.
And even then you only see silhouettes.
I'm not afraid of nightmares anymore. Thank you, Meshuggah.

I know it's been said many times already, but their light show is just......... words can't really describe it.
LED screens behind the 4 in front and lots of Red LED lighting. The worst colour for video and photos.

That transition from the slow steaming first half of the song to the "real" riff is so neat and always feels like a volcano erupting.
I love that Stifled Outro so much.. it worked perfectly like this
Can confirm, that's exactly how you feel when your cog is broken
true
Fun fact, the beat is the rythm that a broken cog would produce when spinning

Man, they are larger than life up there. Absolutely Colossal.
THAT VOICE MAN!!!!! OMG!
7:00, i dont know what it is about this riff but it slaps harder than grandma when you dont finish a meal.

What an incredible performance by people essentially standing still.
I was riveted.
This is the most dethklok shit. We are so blessed.
