And we all thought it would never end 😢 The sound of the mighty Sulzer 12 will never be forgotten, the jack of all trade masters who got on with the job, no showboating just got on with it ✊️✊️✊️
On some nights I could always hear the 47’s pulling big loads on the mainline a mile and a bit away. It was great to hear them. A pleasure experienced for many years 😀👍🏻
Bashers at the time we’re like oh another 47!! Then towards the end when there was nothing else more and more went out for the last bash!! Fast forward to this week and Cross country is playing host to another despised in the day but revered now HST making its final rounds on its original route. Cracking video as allways 👍👍
Anything that made a noise EE or Sulzer I enjoyed back then . Can't say I'm feeling the love for the HST ..iconic design....yes...but they sound awful compared to the original power unit ...so have zero interest. Glad you enjoyed matey.
In my day gricing around about in North Kent in my youth I wasn't a big lover of the class 47s but now I realise what great locos they are and powerful too !! Good to see 006 still powering on , if I'm not mistaken in the Tops scheme they were renumbered in sequence so 006 was an oldie at this point .
Great video thank you. If that is 401 bogged down on a Swindon to Cleethorpes tour near Barrow Hill then one of those heads was mine. Magic times.
@@matthewthompson1303 yes, 401

I was never really into 47s but I must admit they are arguably the best, most versatile diesel loco the railway has ever had.
Oh the memories of my youth head out bashing VXC Duffs. Loved the video.
