Yesterday I unearthed my beloved Johnny Marr Jag and gave it some love and new strings. Many of my guitars have been in storage and are slowly surfacing since Elisabeth and I moved to our new pad in the hills. Anyway, one thing led to another and I found myself experimenting with Fender 'blackface' combo models and tremolos to try and park up next to the recorded and now iconic "How Soon Is Now" sound. I realised that the different combos yielded different tonal results so I've bundled the lot into one patch which I now give to you for your amusement. It's not an exact replication of the original sound, there's probably a lot more stereo width, etc., but it's a bit of fun, for sure. That's it. Have a good one!

And the T-Shirt? It goes with (and I'm a big fan of) one of the best but sadly short-lived Australian bands of the last two years. See: • The Hollywood Waltz - ... and • The Hollywood Waltz - ... G'day Matt!
Cracking! Would love to see Jaguars more often on your channel!
I knew you’d be on this soon.
Just got one of your signature pics from Honey Picks in the post today. Love it!!! I’ll post it on the Instagram sometime this week.
your opening sounds terrific❤
i saw an old picture of you holding an Albert Lee model. Albert is a friend and comes to play in Toronto quite a bit! I will hang out end of January again❤ (still love your Irish accent❤) cheers to you.
Yep, I've still got the rosewood Albert Lee. It's a ripper. I can't understand the Irish reference, though - I'm Australian. An Irish accent is quite difficult to do for me.
@@BrettKingman a bit of Irish in me. Years ago I had quite a few Irish and Scottish friends. Very distinct accents and my wife could not understand any. I met only one person ever from Australia in Canada. Do you ever see Louie Shelton? I have heard him say that he loves living in Australia. Lucky fellow. Love your channel and sense of humour. I have played Albert’s guitars (beautiful) but never could afford one. Just an old retired high school teacher who Loves all things guitar. Happy playing. Are all those guitars on the wall your own? Best Wishes.
Sounds great
I remembered reading that he dropped a knife on the strings to get those harmonics in the lead line.
All of them sound good, the Deluxes got me personally, and I'm not usually a Deluxe fan. I'm pretty sure the lead part was Slide with an Eventide pitch detune.
Johnny effin Marr...
Hello Brett, thank you for the good work! I like your presets very much. Just one qustion about the last the presets (Deluxe SSS, Deluxe HSS and Deluxe Jag). If I import them from AxeChange in 'FM9 Edit' they don't work. Maybe I do something wrong, but other presets are ok. Can you maybe check it?
It sounds like you'll need to update your FM9 and FM9 Edit to the latest firmware. I can't remember if I wrote those in a beta version or not, I'm sorry. But sorting your machine out with whatever the latest firmware is should do the trick. Let me know if you get a chance. Cheers.
@@BrettKingman I've got the latest firmware, so i don't understand why it doesn't work.
That sounds really impressive. As usual. What's that Explorer you have on the stand in the background?
