I really appreciate these Brutalism buildings as it shows the communist past, but at the same time is different and new. I really find studying the shapes and architecture interesting and I could stare at all of these buildings for hours.

Trust me, even tho it looks depressing, it's fun to have a lot of open space. Now this video was shot at the blocks further from the Sava River, the closer you are to the River the more Beautiful Btw Blok 45 (section of new belgrade) is more than 70% parks, walkways, trees, grass. It also has the cleanest looking buildings.
I like modernism, and Belgrade in general is an open museum of amazing modernist architecture. With the brutalist flavour, New Belgrade takes it further. Indeed there are vast open areas. Don't you feel that at some areas they feel too big?
Some commentary would have been good but thanks anyway for making this available. I intend to visit Belgrade in the early spring and will be focusing on the traces of former Yugoslavia. Will definitely visit new Belgrade!
@Nemanja ĆIrić Loved the city, I spent five nights there so I barely scratched the surface. Novi Beograd was fascinating from an architectural/urban perspective!
I am obsessed with commieblocks, They look so neat to me. Idk why. Oddly enough I see a lot of these in Canada of all places, strange to me being Canada is a western nation, but interesting. My best guess is that Canada has a more socialist society than Mexico or the United States. Provokes thought these buildings do. (I am an artist so I sometimes overthink things lol)
I live in Serbia and i love when i see a commie building painted with some nice roofs added, it's amazing what some paint can do. Some people thought want to make some buildings look like clasical buildings now and they pay few thousands $ to some guys without licence to try to make them pretty lol See this video th-cam.com/video/Kk9czjGg3Qo/w-d-xo.html
Canada is not even slightly socialist. Perhaps you are referring to Brutalist buildings which can be seen in just about every developed nation, they are not commie blocks.
There are alot more Brutalism districts not only in New Belgrade. You have Vidikovac (Lookout), Labudovo Brdo (Swan Hill). Julino Brdo ( Julino Hill), Mirijevo, Konjarnik Rudo Towers, Banjica 5 Skyscrapers.
It may look depressing to people from the outside but when you live there its actually full of green areas all around. Urban planning of blocks was really good, way better than what is built now in Belgrade where its urban chaos. Biggest down is low maintenance, so a lot of public places are crumbling.
so cool! where exactly are the building blocks in 0:45? im planning to visit Belgrade and would loved to take some pics of these buildings! omg the interior on 2:40!
The only thing it needs is for the authorities to take a little bit more care and consideration of Novi Beograd instead of aggressively building new buildings in parks. And there are lots and lots of parks in Novi Beograd, as planned. And, of course, to protect the architecture by law, since people here really do with their apartments and buildings what every they want. They turn balconies into rooms, they put windows on open balconies, they build on roofs, they wall off passages etc. Really awful and barbaric behavior.
Would this be a unsafe place to visit for a tourist? Gangs ect . From Scotland we have buildings like this on a smaller scale would be fascinating to see these in person
