I'm so glad you included Lamont Dozier, so many articles have left him out. He was a brilliant songwriter! Band of Gold and You Can't Hurry Love are still two of my favorite songs!
Dallas Frazier, who left us at the beginning of the year, was no doubt the equivalent on the country side of the music ledger. He was omitted from this list.
R.I.P Andy Fletcher he will be missed and Depeche Mode was my favorite band because of backgrounds, vocals, and lyrics. My favorite song from Depeche Mode was Strangelove

I didn't know it, except for Olivia... Christine was a great songwriter for Fleetwood Mac and a very good singer, as Irene, with the unforgettable 'What à feeling '... RIP everyone
It's really strange how the death of someone you never knew can feel so devastating. In my entire life, I have never mourned an artist the way I mourned Olivia. It just hit me like a ton of bricks because I grew up with her and she fought so hard to stay alive. Truly, a year of many losses.

I always thought Judith Durham was up there with Karen Carpenters as being possibly the best female singer of all time & there's been some damn fine female singers..Judith was simply a lovely looking lady & the voice of an angel 😇 ❤ her & Karen can take me off yo heaven when my time comes around...
If you believe in forever, Then life is just a one night stand, If there is a Rock n'roll heaven, Well you know they've got a hell of a band..band.. band. -The Righteous Brothers
The deaths of Olivia Newton-John, Irene Cara and Argentinean singer Diego Verdaguer hit me real hard (I was 9 in 1980 and 18 in 1989, living in South America). Also shocked at the very soon deaths of Tom Parker from The Wanted and Aaron Carter. R.I.P. all stars here.
Taylor Hawkins death hits very hard in the rock music industry. Same with Meat Loaf. But Christine McVie was the true trailblazer in the mid 70's, Fleetwood Mac will never be the same without her. I think it speaks to Stevie Nicks feelings as well
I COULDN'T AGREE MORE WITH WHAT YOU HAVE SAID ABOUT BEAUTIFUL CHRISTINE , NOT FORGETTING STEVIE ,WHO IS OF COARSE STILL ALIVE THANKING GOD . RIP CHRISTINE . LOVE YOU .XX. ROB.
Taylor Hawkins death hit hard in the rock music scene??? How? He was an average drummer, for a band that is super over-rated with an arrogant Liberal-Woke big-mouth lead singer who many are now sick of tired of hearing about! Give me a break!
R.I.P to all those great musicians. I am a hard rock fan & we lost many greats but as an Aussie, the one which hurts the most is my beautiful Olivia Newton John...rest in peace angel.
Already so many singers I love had died this year, and then Christine McVie died to top it all off... 2016 is mentioned as the year so many musicians died but for me 2022 is the worst.
Since you uploaded this video, Terry Hall lead singer of The Specials, Fun Boy Three and The Colourfield, Rick Anderson bass player with The Tubes and Martin Kelly keyboardist with Felt, Primal Scream and The Charlatans have passed away within the space of two days. 😥
I have a love hate with these vids Random, we keep loosing great ones and to my ears they are not getting any replacements. Thank you for always making great vids my friend:)
Thank you for the updated version! Although I was never a fan of his music, Aaron Carter's death left me heartbroken since I knew he was in and out of trouble for years. And Christine McVie 😞 That one hit me hard because I had been a fan of Fleetwood Mac since I was 13.
Albatross was a familiar piece of music to me,with its dreamy ambience, since I was very little, but I've been a huge fan of Fleetwood Mac since 1977,the year I turned 13 and the year Rumours was released,so the loss of Christine McVie was one of the biggest to me too.
As the year isn't quite done yet, should you need to do an updated version, may I request you add Archie Roach. Indigenous Australian artist who passed a couple days prior to Judith Durham. It was the quite the week for us here down under losing three major artist one after the other; Archie Roach, Judith Durham, and Olivia. And thanks for this compilation, there were artists included here that I hadn't heard about their passing yet. Not sure how I feel about Aaron Carter's passing. I hadn't heard til this video, and I was never into his music yet...that one kinda hit... Maybe because he was so young.
FYI, Christine McVie's birth date is wrong in the video. She was born on July 12, not July 21. I'm not putting that in to be picky, I just happen to have the same birthday and have always felt at least a little bit of a connection to her.
How great I understand you, I also couldn't put up with people confusing her name order (ofcourse I also just happen to be as well Christine Ann) and so for me the sequence "Ann Christine" in some videos or articles was unbearable too :D
Sandy Nelson was the most influential rock drummer who ever lived. His heavy-handed toms with crazy snare rolls influenced literally every hard rock drummer from '67 onward and thus formed Rock and Roll as we know it. Bonham's mom said John drove her nuts trying to figure out Sandy's licks. Ginger Baker, Keith Moon, Ian Pace, Bill Ward, Stuart Copeland, Mick Fleetwood, Tommy Lee, Mick Tucker, Dale Bozzio, Phil Collins, Max Weinberg, Steve Smith... All claimed to have learned from Sandy. Sadly, he died broke and never understood at all how influential he'd been. RIP legend.
As a little kid who knew he was different but didn't know why, I always loved Olivia Newton-John. "Let Me Be There" was great, even if it was Country, but then the double whammy of "Sam" and "Please Mr. Please" made me a fan for life. The heartbreak of "I Honestly Love You" touched me in a way I still couldn't understand, but I knew what it was like to want someone and be terrified to tell them how I felt. And then there was Grease and Xanadu and she became an icon. Olivia was a gay champion long before that was even a thing, and her songs always spoke to wanting better, wanting real, wanting to be accepted as she was instead of how she was labeled. People always underestimated her - you don't have a string of top ten hits over a decade (and a charting history on the Hot 100 that went from 1971 to 1998) without the talent, the drive, and the hard work. That she also had to deal with her body betraying her multiple times just proves what an incredible person she was. She was the embodiment of Sandra Dee wholesomeness and raw Physical sexuality and so much, much more. We lost so many incredible people in 2022. But for me personally, Olivia was the greatest of losses, and I'm so glad she was able to accomplish so much before she left.
Rest in Peace to All. Wow, Dame Olivia Newton-John. A radiating picture of health & vitality. Clean living, alternate plant based meds., AND building a Cancer & Wellness Center for us while she was ill for 30 years. 73 is too young. To anyone who was lost, RIP. But, yes music fills our souls & these talents surely did 💜.
There is still more missing musicians have not in their video, Burke Shelley (Budgie), Willie Leacox (America Band) Greg Webster (Ohio Players), Fred Parris (The Five Satins), Mike Rabon (Five Americans), Miguel Vicens Danus (Los Bravos), Con Cluskey (The Bachelors) Bert Ruiter (Focus Band, Earth and Fire), Michael Henderson, Hugo Helmig, DJ Shog, i am the guy i added missing musicians in list of death in rock and roll 2022's on wikipedia
There was even no mention of Charles E. McCormick of Bloodstone, Aaron Carter, Stephen 'Steve' Grimmett of Grim Reaper, Jim Post, Marva Hicks, Jim Sohns of Shadows of the Knight, Bernard Wright, Mimi Parker of Low and D.H. Peligro of The Dead Kennedys
And also (ironically surprised that I forgot about him) Erwin Beekveld, a Dutch photographer, musician and remixer whose Lord of the Rings Parody/Mash-up "They're Taking Hobbits to the Isengard" became a sensation on TH-cam in 2005, died of lung cancer on March 30, 2022
A big one was omitted. Dallas Frazier, age 82 on January 14. One of the most prolific songwriters in country music history whose cataloged spanned from "Alley Oop" to "Elvira" and beyond. In 1970 he scored a modest hit as a performer with "California Cotton Fields".
Tom Parker and Takeoff's deaths really stood out since they were not only young, but also 2010s artists. You rarely feature artists or songs from the 2010s after all!
@@ansjeliek It's nice to meet another person they touch so much. I think people who just know the band really just think of Dave and Martin as the front men maybe?
I ADORE Darius. I didn't know him prior to his death, but from what I've seen, he was LIVING ANGEL. I'm glad you added him on here. R.I.P Lovely Darius. And R.I.P To all the others especially, I can't leave them out. 💔
A bit late, but I would also add 8 more that I left out from the list, sorry about that: - Erwin Beekveld (Best known for Lord of The Rings Parody/Mash-up "They're Taking The Hobbits to the Isengard", which became a sensation on TH-cam in 2005) (1969 - 2022) [Lung cancer] - Con Cluskey (Guitarist for The Bachelors) (1941 - 2022) [COVID-19] - Christian Hummer (Keyboardist for Wanda) (1990 - 2022) [After a long illness] - Gaston Boagerts (Percussionist for The Chakachas) (1921 - 2022) [Natural causes] - Alan Copeland (The Modernaitors) (1926 - 2022) [Unknown] - Donald "Don" Williams (The Williams Brothers) (1922 - 2022) [Undisclosed causes] - Anita Pointer (The Pointer Sisters) (1948 - 2022) [Unknown] - Jeremiah Green (Drummer for Modest Mouse) (1977 - 2022) [Cancer]
Some I have heard of and some not. Some I thank for the memories they evoke even now. But R.I.P to all of them. You played the soundtrack to our lives. You are missed and always will be ❤
Aún no he podido superar la pérdida de mi amor platónico de la infancia Olivia Newton-John, ahora esto, no he podido aceptar que la no menos bellísima y talentosa Christine McVie ya no esté en este mundo 😭😭
The people I'll miss the most; Burke Shelley (Budgie) Christine McVie Meat Loaf Taylor Hawkins (I'll miss the most) Ian McDonald Stuart Anstis Olivia Newton John Coolio Manny Charlton/Dan McCafferty Jerry Lee Lewis Alan White Nik Turner And a lot more. Even though John Hartman died last year, it was until August when we (maybe I) found out.
Christine passing is a real loss. She was the heart of the Mac. Balanced the band. Understated and definitely underappreciated. She had an amazing 79 years , but I'll miss her. 💔
Still hard to accept that some of those people left us this year. But I don't think they'll be forgotten too quickly, their legacy will live on still to this day. Some of those deaths particularly shocked me: Ronnie Spector, Meat Loaf, Ian McDonald, Mark Lanegan, Taylor Hawkins etc. And can't believe that 2 members of Nazareth are no longer living too, died in just a 4 month diffrence. May all those people Rest In Peace
I'd add a few others to that great pantheon of pioneer generation rock 'n' roll era musicians, such as Chuck Berry and Little Richard, but yes Jerry Lee Lewis was the last one left.
@@rjjcms1 Rock'n'Roll was at the beginning music of the white for the white that included elements of the black music and was concepted in the Midwest around the Sun Records in the 1954 by Sam Philips.

I think it speaks to Stevie Nicks feelings as well
Stevie Nicks is woman
Give me a break!
these 2 deaths hit me really hard, especially Christine McVie, such a great and unique singer and person,it was for me the biggest loss of 2022
R.I.P to all those great musicians. I am a hard rock fan & we lost many greats but as an Aussie, the one which hurts the most is my beautiful Olivia Newton John...rest in peace angel.
They're All Playing & Singing Somewhere That's Beautiful, Right Now!
This world is truly hell
@@GEENIAH3 It can be, yeah.

Anita Pointer of the Pointer Sisters died New Year's Eve of 2022. Rest in Heaven. 🤎🙏🤎🙏🤎
This is a tremendous tribute to music 🎶 legends ..thank you for posting.
Thanks for this video. All these great artists will live forever in our hearts.
Already so many singers I love had died this year, and then Christine McVie died to top it all off... 2016 is mentioned as the year so many musicians died but for me 2022 is the worst.
For me 2015 is the worst because of lemmy, Scott weiland, bb king and Steve strange
Also Maxi Jazz from Faithless died on 22/12/22
@Slartybartfast 42 yes I know.
I have a love hate with these vids Random, we keep loosing great ones and to my ears they are not getting any replacements. Thank you for always making great vids my friend:)
Irene Cara, Vangelis and Olivia Newton-John R.I.P
But nobody else?
I bet fatty nig does show respect to everyone on the list but especially to Irene cara Olivia newton John and vangelis as much as I do RIP maxi jazz
This year is like 2016, these are just the musicians, we lost so many actors too, like Kevin Conroy. rip
I will miss all of these musicians especially Coolio and Olivia Newton john
RIP legend.
I feel badly that all these people died but I really loved Vangelis a lot and felt devastated when he died.
me too
As a little kid who knew he was different but didn't know why, I always loved Olivia Newton-John.
Beautiful video, Thank you for these death tributes
You Can also add Maxi Jazz (Faithless) whos passed away 2 days ago

A big one was omitted. Dallas Frazier, age 82 on January 14. One of the most prolific songwriters in country music history whose cataloged spanned from "Alley Oop" to "Elvira" and beyond. In 1970 he scored a modest hit as a performer with "California Cotton Fields".
We lost a lot of great musicians in 2022 RIP to them all
RIP 2 everyone on the list. 🙏
It’s still a shock to me that Aaron Carter died especially so young!
Same with Olivia Newton John
RIP
Klaus Schulze was a musician an a real one. Born on August 4, 1947 in Berlin and died on April 26, 2022.
Tom Parker and Takeoff's deaths really stood out since they were not only young, but also 2010s artists. You rarely feature artists or songs from the 2010s after all!
Terry Hall (The Specials) passed away a few daya ago. 2022 is not over yet, so perhaps you should have created your video in 2023. 🙂
R.I.P. Meatloaf I love his Song Two out of Three Ain’t Bad
Music is a vehicle to bring people together, to hopefully enlighten for the better. Ronnie Spector was my favorite, yet all were very talented.
Cheers to Ronnie Spector Forever!
When we lost Fletch, I was absolutely devastated. Depeche Mode is one of the 3 bands that have kept and keep me going even in the darkest times.
me too, I feel like not enough people are talking about Andrew and what a legend he was and will always be❤

No they won't be forgotten as much of the 70s and 80s generation is still here to love and pass on the music to the younger crowd.
Maybe you have noticed that this year died the last of the Great Four in the fifties(Elvis, Cash, Orbison, Lewis), Jerry Lee Lewis.
I'd add a few others to that great pantheon of pioneer generation rock 'n' roll era musicians, such as Chuck Berry and Little Richard, but yes Jerry Lee Lewis was the last one left.
