This is literally the first video that shows how to find a straight line and align a straight edge to a board with uneven edges. Thank you

Ow! Best short/efficient explanation I've ever seen on how to do that. Legend🤘

Due to the non-straight edges of a live edge slab, basing the middle off of just a single measurement at each end may or may not be a representative “middle” line

I wish you had demonstrated this on a really crazy piece of wood. The one you were working on looks close to square to begin with. It's me, not you.

Reaching across the saw cut line to support the off cut is generally an unsafe practice. It’s better to support everything including the waste on some sacrificial sticks on the bench top.

What blade are you using on your track saw. I tried ripping 1.5 inch hard maple and it took 3 passes and burnt the wood. I think it was my error

Its not a raw slab though. How do you cut one that just had the bark removed?

I notice you presented the bottom of the slab at the end. The red chalk line on the side you were working from was my concern. Red chalk is permanent. Never use red where it might show. The geyser of red dust that spews out of a chalk line on payout has caused me permanent damage in finished spaces.

wouldn't a light sanding take care of that no problem?

Great video, thx for sharing! I am trying to cut my slab and this has been helpful! I do have a couple of questions though.
What type of blade did you use for the cross cut? Do you have to clamp the track for the track saw, or does it just rest on the wood? Is slip resistant?

We are using a cross cut blade. The track is slip resistant but we clamp it just to be 100% sure it does not move.
