What a great vantage point to make the video ! Even better than beeing on the footplate if you could find a spot there. Now I'm not sure if it was this loco or the Earl, but we had a challenging repair job replacing a broken right-rear axle leaf spring nearly 50 years ago, and with the frames beeing double plated this took a fair bit of fiddling. I did manage to pick up quite a few new English 'words' then but in the end all was well and running again.

Dear Leo Starrenburg, Thank you for the most wonderful and interesting comments on my two videos of the Welshpool & Llanfair. This railway is certainly the greatest of railways to experience the narrow gauge experience. The folk there were the most generous with their efforts to help me make my movies and I am very pleased to acknowledge their efforts. Like all these narrow gauge railways these days preservation things are moving fast with extensions and even brand new locos being built. Exciting times! - Ah! - don't forget to watch my video on the Zillertalbahn in Austria. This great little railway sold some of their coaches to the Welshpool as it is the same gauge of 2 foot 6 inches. You can see them in the video. They have even lent locos to the WLLR. You must visit if you have never been. Thanks again, very best wishes to you and you channel. WooWooMad.

@@WooWooMad The Austrian coaches were nicknamed "Balloons", understandable if you saw them next to the slim Admirality "Toastracks" from the ammunition depots. In the 80-ies we spent a fortnight in the Zillertal and luck would have it that there was a large railway festival in the Jenbach station at the time: The rack railway to the Achensee, the standard gauge OBB with steam and of course the Zillertal Bahn, great fun ! Speaking of coaches: I had some 3D models of the Sierra Leone Railway coaches printed for my On30 model layout and I do love the Pickering coaches, the Countess pulling a mixed train with them and a rake of pristine good vans is a sight indeed ! But nothing beats the Zillertal "Fasslwagen", the giant barrel aka traveling pub/buffet. During our visit it was still attached to the train, sadly I learned it's not in use as such anymore.

Dear Leo Starrenburg, Thanks for the great reply. It's great to know that there are some other rail fans out there. I also have masses of video on the rack railway at Jenbach, but I haven't managed to find the time to knock it all into shape and produce a video yet. and Yes! - when I was there the barrel was just parked up, but wouldn't that just look great on the WLLR. Jenbach, what a station! Three gauges into one station! All the very best of wishes, WooWooMad.

Dear Shaun O'Rourke, Ah. . . I was wondering who was going to be the first to ask ! The video was taken on the 5th April 2015. I know it is a long time ago in these times of instant video, I-phone responses that we all have to deal with but life carries on and these things just sit at the back of the mind and you know that one day you should just sit down and edit up that video. At the present time I think there is around twenty videos for me that are in that category. All the folk that helped me that day were just fantastic so it was with great pleasure that I managed to finally to publish it on TH-cam. It is a sort of tribute to them all as they can't have an Easter this year of course. So they can have these videos instead to look at. Thanks for commenting and very best wishes to you and your channel. WooWooMad.

Dear Shaun O'Rourke, Ah . Ah .. Only someone who is interested in that railway would know that. Are you a volunteer or someone on the video??? WooWooMad.

@@WooWooMad Yes, my stepdaughter and Wife's parents are volunteers at the railway, though they weren't in this video.

Dear Shaun O'Rourke, Yes, I thought there must be a connection somewhere. What a great railway it is and the folk there were just so helpful and friendly. Do have a look at my Zillertalbahn railway video. This is the railway from where the W&llR acquired the coaches and the loco on temporary loan. That video is doing quite well and that day was just as sunny. Great visit if you haven't done it yet. Very best wishes to you all, WooWooMad.
