Eugh... brace, for the more 'Confusing' era of things that is on korra's there then. after the current light-vessel's (Aang's) era, that we still iconically more know of, now passed.
There's a small number of official comics covering the journey of Zuko searching for his mother after all this. The gang is all there, along with a surprise character too.

I love the music for Azula vs Zuko it makes it clear that this is not epic, it's tragic, it's two traumatized teenage siblings forced to fight because of their Fathers abuse
Yeah. But I have to say, idk how to feel about how they kind of put an asterisk around Zuko sort of beating Azula. The writers basically said that the only reason Zuko stood a chance against her, was because she was mentally unstable. Even then, Katara ended the fight. Not Zuko. It even kind of makes his new skills kind of pointless, because he didn’t overcome Azula, even after all the mental manipulation and bullying she put him through.
@@Kayoss13212 because hes not better than her. Raw talent or ability. He still cant make lightning. Shes still a better bender. But her being unstable makes her talent useless. It was only thru fkery she got as far as she did.
@@Kayoss13212 I love that it plays out that way, because Zuko doesn't care anymore that she's "better" than he is. He's grown in other ways than sheer fire bending talent. He knows his own strengths and is at peace within himself. And he's smart--he took Katara with him because he knew he couldn't beat Azula head on, but he summed up the situation in the moment and decided that he could. And he did--if Katara hadn't been standing there like an idiot (we all make mistakes), Zuko totally would have ended it, and Azula knew she was beat.

He could already redirect lightning as he did against his FATHER. Not Azula. You don’t think he wouldnt have the balls to shoot It back at her when he already faced the greatest threat to himself??? You wild dude. He was quite literally ready for her lightning BUT Katara was there and in the way and she knew that Zuko was gone to save her. Yall really didn’t watch the entire show and It shows.

Toph also went from desiring independence to becoming an amazing team player and completely trusting Sokka.
Same thing with Ty Lee! From the beach episode she was dead set on making sure she "wasn't part of a match set" but found true happiness with the Kyoshi Warriors who's whole gimmick beyond being incredible warriors is uniformity

Speaking of poetry, Aang, after taking the Ozai's firebending away, he uses the first waterbending skill he learned to put out the fires. They made so many things in this show fall into place its truly amazing.
In my opinion, Azula’s “you can’t treat me like Zuko” didn’t come from her mother, but from her father. Azula is smart and she knew that Ozai’s love for her is very, very conditional and at all times she is one mistake from being discarded just like Zuko. Everything Zuko faced was also an implicit threat for Azula. But unlike Zuko Azula also had absolutely no one to rely on.
All in all she really deserved better.
It's also a matter that she did so much to be by her father's side (cause in her head, she couldn't be by her mother's side), so it kinda shows that in a way she became who she was to not be treated like Zuko. At the same time that she wanted her father's love, she became his version of a perfect child to avoid his abuse. It shows the nuances of the scapegoat/golden child dynamic that many abusive families have in place. Sure she got better treatment for most of her life, but it also left her stunted. Ozai abandoned her (cause he didn't need her anymore), she pushed her friend to the point they betrayed her, she lost the royal title she was chasing, and she lost even the pride of beign undefeatable. She was left with nothing and doesn't even have the internal tools to stand up and rebuild herself (like Zuko did once he realized he lost everything he actually cared about). Her last scene is her in a emotional breakdown. This is top notch character work.
Fun fact: The first word said in the show (not counting the opening) was "it's".
The last word said in the show was "perfect".
So, if you take its first and final word you get "it's prefect" which really describes it perfectly.

@@zeensee my own made uo avatar sequal would be the avatar going a little injustice supes and the protag would be a regular bender who traveled and studied and incorporating other bending styles in that same way into their own. Preferably not fire since we got that here

that zuko vs azula is actually kinda heartbreaking. the duel between siblings over the crown. thats even what iroh didnt want for himself. yeah and the music and the colors really makes it great.

Yeah that was heartbreaking to watch but in that case it wasn’t violence, Azula was the one going crazy and not herself she was fighting with anger and hatred, while Zuko was just trying to stop her from fighting and blocking every hit she did on him in a way he was defending himself
Tbf. IMO, when you said "That's what she really wanted" you were partially correct. Azula wanted validation. Her mother loved Zuko more than her, because Azula was following into Ozai's footsteps and tried to be his favorite as well.
This hallucination of Ursa saying: "No, I love you, Azula.", it is actually her subconscious mind trying to say that to herself.
No matter how many times i see it. Aang getting all the elements together gives me goosebumps.

tbh tho, the show never gave a decent enough explanation as to how Aang was able to unblock his chakras and why there was no real cost to it. The only somewhat disappointing part of a near perfect ending.
I think the most underrated part of the Toph metal bending herself a suit of armor is that at that point in time only people who have interacted with team Avatar even knows metal bending exists... So you could imagine how absolutely terrifying it would be to see a small child push over a door with ease only to encase herself within it and start moving metal around effortlessly.
Also the fact that she has mastered metal bending that much is crazy because technically she has to metal bend the metal around her as she walks and moves while still being able to manipulate the metal around her...
Which she has done with stone before and taught it to Aang. So she already knew the technique for it and just had to use metal instead of stone.

One thing I absolutely love about this show is all the main protagonists have clear growth and development. Also, if you notice Zuko's fighting style against Azula, he is using styles from other nations. Another thing he would've learned from his uncle.

These final fights are my absolute favorite in the whole franchise. You can just feel how much love and effort is being poured into these final minutes. It is end game and they are giving it their all. Each fight gets the right amount of attention and detail, the pacing feels like a beautiful dance.😊
The part in the siblings fight where she is skating in a circle around him while he's shooting fire blasts at her draws a parallel to the the taming the dragon performance in the first season
When Azula broke down crying in the end, the voice actress i believe had to have people leave the room bc she has to relive a bad memory and even said she can not watch that scene bc it came from a very dark place in her life.

Ty Lee being perfectly fine with looking and being the same like everybody else in the Kyoshi warriors hits so different when you remember her countless twin siblings and her desire to be different from them.
As a kid watching this, I did not understand or feel empathy for Azula. But as I have rewatched this show as an adult, my empathy for her has grown. She is only 14, and much like Zuko, is a victim of their father's very manipulative and very conditional "love". The only difference is that Zuko had his mother's love. Their mother loved Azula, but Ozai had his claws in her from day 1. There was never any real connection. Zuko also had Iroh. But no one really tried with Azula. She was favored because she was second born, as Ozai was. Ozai's resentment towards Iroh and Zuko stems from them being the first born and favored. Azula is responsible for her own actions, but is ultimately still a child, one that was morphed into a sociopath and had no idea how to process emotion. It's incredibly sad.
Atla is probably my #1 fav show of all time, the ending gets me every single time, no matter how many times I rewatch this show it still gives me chills, I love this show so much 😆
There is a sequal comic series that follows what happened to Zuko and Azula's mom, it also shows how broken Azula is.
The show begins and ends on a beam of light from the Avatar. That's how you tell a perfect story!
really great reaction! I especially love seeing other people watch azula fall apart when she finally has no friends left. One of my favorite character moments in the series by far!
"Into the Inferno" is my favorite episode of the entire series. The animation, the Agni Kai choreography, the colors, the sound design, the MUSIC! All amazing. The entire scene was so emotional, tragically beautiful, and sad. Azula's descent into madness, so perfectly captured in 22 minutes, and yet it didn't feel rushed or hollow. Quite the opposite - it felt so dense and compact, and yet fully-developed. It was really just *chef's kiss* writing.
The final line of dialogue spoken in the show..is a blind joke.
A perfect finale to a perfect show. The ending is just so satisfying
I highly recommend you guys reading the comics (especially the trilogies), Azula really goes all out after Zuko becomes the fire lord & their mother's storie is really cool. Also they give a little more context of what happened between the 2 avatar series.

I feel like most people don't realize how crazy strong Iroh is when we blew down that wall SINGLEHANDEDLY. That was the inner wall which as you can imagine was probably just as strong as the outer wall which had never been penetrated before the drill. He blew it to pieces with fire bending ffs.
now Reminding of those many halo universe and galaxy/franchise fans around the Earth, for one example.
I just love the utter confusion and fear in Ozais eyes as Aang redirects his lightning. He knows that Zuko can do that, so he must know that Zuko taught Aang....oh and he thinks that he is about to die I guess.

In the final battle between Azula and Zuko, if no one notice, Zuko was using all four techniques in Water, Earth, Fire and Air as he learned from Uncle Iroh
I still think that Azula's dialog with her mom is what she wanted to hear from her. She wanted to be loved, but that would disappoint their father, so she suppressed it. Now she's at her limit, and all the stuff that she bottled up is haunting her.

Idk if you noticed, but Zuko was using different bending style moves that he incorporated into his fire bending agaist Azula. The whirling kick right before the lightning was an Air bending move. When he split the wall of fire it was an earth bending move.
Azula vs zuko is straight up poetry as u said.. that fight was so beautiful, making a fight to death between these siblings to somth like that is magnificent!
Just imagine an Orchestra playing in like a full on ballet performance of that 🤩😍

This show is so life changing, that my wife and I named our daughter Airah, pronounced Irah (the female version of Iroh).
To this day, Azula’s V.A. Grey Delisle says she can’t watch the Azula mental Breakdown scene…
She channeled a really dark time in her life in order to get the emotional motivation.
She is TRULY an incredible artist.
Now please take your time and imagine that you watched that show from start to finish on tv every week as a 10 year old kid. I can easily say this was one of the major experiences that make me who I am today. I feel so lucky.

The character development
One of the BEST finales to a show ever. Might have a thing here or there that could be better, but it's probably the closest to perfection, so I wouldn't have it any other way.
Also, the saddest thing about Azula is that she is FOURTEEN at the time of the show. So sad the way she was brought up.

16:30.. theres a fight in naruto shippuden thats like this. just 2 childhood friends battling it out. no music at the start, when the music kicked in it played a somber arrangement, just cant help but feel sad about the two characters and how they turned out. awesome fight choreography too. one of the best in all of anime.
To this day, I don't think Grey Delisle-Griffin has seen Azulas final scene. It took so much out of her to record it that she refuses to watch it.

Although Aangs way of defeating the Fire Lord was sweet but it just open a new door of problem. BENDING CAN BE TAKEN AWAY.
This Saga was really well-witten and-well thought. it really mirror the reality. In every course of action there will always be pros and cons.

Korra is a great show. It's really hard to compare the two because really Korra is an even more ambitious series than AtLA with more adult themes. But production difficulties really took its toll. The wonder of Avatar is its simple universal themes and its meticulous and masterful execution of 2 heroes journies. Korra tries to take on even more complex story telling and perhaps fails to live up to the dame level of polish and perfection achieved by its predecessor. But it's still a great achievement.
what do you mean there is nothing else? There is literally another series to go through. Legend of Korra is the next Avatar installment. And I highly recommend it.

Thanks for focusing on Azula and her pain and trauma, people sometimes ignore it because she's the villain and Zuko is there but she in my opinion is just as tragic as Zuko if not more so
She’s more tragic IMO because she didn’t have a person like Iroh or mom to steer her in right direction. But her and Zuko are both victims to their parents
