I grew up enjoying European classical music, American Jazz, Kentucky Bluegrass music, and in my twenties I became enamored of classical Spanish music. A few years later I began to appreciate forms of Flamenco guitar music. Then one day in at 60 years of age I heard/ watched a TH-cam videos of various Oud artists from Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia. I was entranced, enthralled, and enchanted by this instrument. It is hauntingly beautiful!
This performance was the once that convinced me to buy an oud. I can listen to this on loop, it gives me goosebumps over and over again. Negar Bouban, you are a master and an absolute inspiration.
The oud is an instrument that has defined global music. And, in the hand of this master, it becomes an instrument of illumination. Mind-blowing. Greetings from Greece!
How loud is oud comapred to lets say nylon string guitar? Because everytime I hear it its loud but people have said its loud as lute and lutes tend to be quiter.

The first time I heard the magical voice of the oud was over four decades ago. It was a piece of Egyptian traditional music I happened to hear on the radio, and I was immediately captivated and entranced. Since then, the king of instruments has only gained in its power to stir my heart and uplift my spirit, and the superbly talented Negar Bouban plays it exquisitely.

When I hear Negar Bouban playing I am being disassembled. Her music is not just for entertainment. She doesn't just have talent or practiced a lot. She has a divine gift, and her music comes from her soul and speaks to the soul of mine. This woman could easily bring peace to the world with her Oud.

What I love the most about the sound of the Oud is that higher metal on metal tone you hear as it's scrapes. Such a unique sound, it's sharp, metallic, clear toned.

هذا بَربَت. مظهره مختلف قليلاً عن العود. وهو موجود في إيران منذ العصر الساساني.

سمعت عزفها عدة مرات وانا عالسرير وعيوني مغمضه من دون ما أشوفها وهي تعزف ولما شفتها تعزف انصدمت من كمية الانسجام اللي هي فيه مع العود وتعزف وهي مغمضه شدني عزفها اشوف التعليقات شفت التعليقات ودمعت عيوني صراحه الأنثى دائما عالية الإحساس في كل شيئ

I'm honestly amazed at how different every oud player is. Really goes to show how much tone resides in the fingers.
Probably most oud you heard are Arabic or Turkish. Iranian music has a different tone or dialect one might say.
