When it came out I knew I had to get one. FInally got one a month ago and I love it so much!
Found my sound and will never look back :)
I bought one on the recommendation of a friend and paired it with a Boss SD-1W and am utterly blown away. Absolute best tones.
Good demo, you did it justice! I got this a couple months ago and love it. Just a note, bright is disabled if gain is above 8.
Thanks for doing the demo dude it's good to see you doing one of these again . Awesome playing and tones. Have a blessed day brother Bea 😎👊🏻🎸💯
It really blows me away all of the tones that are available here. I bought this puddle a week and a half ago and can’t believe just how deep I have gotten with it and sound and developing new sound. It really is amazing. You did an excellent demo definitely appreciate it man my house is overflowing with victory sheriff victory, deputy Freedman run, dirty Shirley pink taco man I’ve got more amplifiers now than I’ve had in the last 35 years of playing guitar Truly a wall of everything from tone king gremlin on up nothing more than 50 W, but truly a great collection of sound and to get it all in this pedal. Just shocks me going to plug this into my bar amplifier I use a silver jubilee mini combo actually where I play four nights a week it seems to cut through the mix well but putting this in as a preamp will be a cheap route and a total solution. This is a delay in Reverb pedal amplifier and you are good to go definitely a great preempt best of seen yet Love the plexi channel Sound 3:02
Excellent review!!!
I’ve had this since it was released… almost unbelievably versatile unit. The boosts are incredibly useful. Every amp ever should have that setup!!
I’m very familiar with its sounds, and can get a great tone in any scenario. Your IRs are wicked good!!!
Instant world class tones. Then the old Custom comes out, and maaaaann. Pure raw greatness!
Hope you can get the new IRD (twin seeester model) in your hands right away, and do a demo on that!
This is exactly the demo we needed of this pedal! No 80's hair metal!
It seems all the people that b1tch about "80's hair metal" weren't actually there, some of the absolute best concerts ever put on were in the 80's, nothing like it exists anywhere any more....
@@MickH60 wasnt actually bitching about or knocking hair metal, just that majority of friedman demos is just that.
@@MickH60i was there, but I was also there when grunge crushed it with killer guitar tones, and none of that annoying showboating van halening
Thanks man! I'm glad you went through all the hard rock tones. I've been looking into this unit to feed the FOH and I play rock. So many amps chug and do metal great plus all the OD pedals will get you those searing tones. I really need something like this for good ole hard rock! BTW- you're killing it brother!
Those were some lovely sounds. Never expected less. Quality stuff Bea!
Wow that's a really nice Gibson Les Paul Custom you got right there Rabea, ive got one too but mine is just about 10 years old by now, yours look to be an early Norlin ear model for sure, but no matter about years, there is something really special about the Gibson Les Paul Custom, for sure.. thanks for the video.
That look at about 15:01 is great - love the smile as you seemed to surprise yourself with that bend
Great tones from that little box
Would love to hear a back to back with this and your Kraken V4 preamp..
YOU DID IT! yayyyy I’m excited for this
Hi Rabea, I love everything you do. Can you please make a video of your licks and let us know which key you are in. I kid you not, I have been learning so much from you. Thanks
Rabea is a master noodler. 👍🤘
Bro I wish I had as much talent as you do in your little finger. So badass!
Absolutely love mine 🤘💀🍻🔥
I have the Friedman IRX and the Eventide H90. With my micro expression pedal, you have a world-class mini rig!
I do the same with individual pedals. Got pitch shifter, wah, tuner, noise gate, compressor and OD before, and delay and reverb in the loop. Pedal power amp. My whole rig at my feet. Guitar and a 1x12 and I’m gigging
it is an amazingly good sounding and versatile box... I have a Fractal FM3 as well that I was using live when I needed to go direct But that now is used exclusively at home as my audio interface and direct guitar and bass sounds. My live board has the IR-X and a delay./verb in the FX loop (Empress Echosystem) a Suhr Koko boost that gets kicked in as a mid boost, vibe and flange and a tuner. With the board I can plug direct in and get all my sounds and everything has knobs, no menu deep diving. I also use this into the FX return of amps, sometimes my Friedmans (Dirty Shirley 40 and JJ junior) or into someone elses clean amp. I get all my sounds in pretty much any environment. I did use some aftermarket Ownhammer IRs that I think are fatter sounding. It also sounds and feels great into my FRFR (GR Guitar 110A). Dave nailed it with the IR-X.
@@umling Truetone cs6, I had to use a current doubler with the two 500MA taps and some of the pedals are daisy chained on another tap. I checked the current draw of all the pedals to make sure the PS could support them all.
A Synergy Friedman BE-DLX module loaded into the forthcoming Synergy SYN-20IR head would pretty much be this in lunchbox form.
Man if you you could midi control all the knobs too or even just save states and recall with PC, that woukd be so epic. Its already awesom.
Sounding massive as always my friend.
Love it - both sound and especially your playing ❤ Btw what IR’s did you use? For sale?
Love the video great demo. I now on the IRX and the IRD preamps love them. Both have been using them through my combo amps effect loop it’s a Marshall sober jubilee lol they truly do make it sound better than the amplifier. However, my question is not about that I am wondering, would this not work equally as well independently through the Friedman reference ASC 10 cab it is not listed as FRFR but certainly has a G power section and I can’t imagine why it would not. I have also ran this pedal actually through my victory, sheriff, hybrid preamp And currently have them both hooked up to that preamp running out of a 4 x 12 sounds amazing. Talk about plexi between the victory IRX and the IRD I don’t think there’s a grand can’t hit lol great tones all the way around Man but I would love to use them just with my buddies Speaker but think the Friedman reference would be a better cab thanks his is just a cheap FRFR and it doesn’t sound that great thanks 7:19 7:19 7:20
Rebea, are you tuned DADGAD? Thanks I have the Freidman IRX still getting comfortable with it in my rig but I do like it. Thanks for the great demo!
22:10 Hehe, I assume not mentioning Synergy here was unintentional.
There sure is a lot of 60cy hum type noise coming out of that thing. Is that the guitars pickups or that IRX?
Think it sounds. Interesting? Certainly not bad by any means, but every clip I hear of the IRX it sounds lacking in low end and that 3d sound. Got to play one albiet on a albeit foreign setup and it did not grab me. It sounds disconnected and very forward in a somewhat unpleasant way. Perhaps used as a preamp with a tube amp it sounds more authentic and full... One thing for sure is the IR's sound amazing thanks to Michael Nielsen and his contribution to friedman.
This sounds really good... As does everything Bea touches 😅
Thank you for your honest review. Lately its become so obvious influencers trying to push on gear... its a good product for specific needs. The end.
Has some decent tones but the noise is a serious drawback for me especially since it is a IR/modeler kind of solution
It's supposed to have an extra knob for more gain.
Decent! Not much different to the Vic V4 Kraken preamp pedal...
I have both the BE-OD Deluxe and a V1 kraken preamp... (not the new poweramp versions) they are totally different sonic beasts for sure. The Kraken has a much, much tigher gain structure and low end control. It's channels sound like two different amps on it's own also... The BE sounds a bit more gnarly like a hot rodded marshal thing people are more familiar with, it's two channels just sound like a more/less gained version of itself. The Friedman gets out of hand real quick with the gain cranked, while the Kraken just stays tight as cranked. Both are amazing.
Voicing aside the feature set is quite different. One is a preamp the other is a preamp, direct box, ir loader
Howdy Rabea, the reviews and the playing are wicked awesome, out of curiosity would you recommend either the Victory V4 Kraken Power Amp or The Friedman IR-X for the metal player who uses headphones cos living spaces?.
In terms of long-term ownership, the Friedman IR-X uses a pair of standard 12AX7 (i.e. ECC83) tubes (like a Synergy preamp module) while the Victory V4 series models use comparatively-unusual EC900 and CV4014 tubes. That alone would push me to the Friedman, were I not a Synergy user.
Why mine does not sound like they on the IRs? Always sound flat and 2 dimensional using ir. Through the power amp of my dsl it is a real beast though. Anyways, amazing demo
Is it worth buying for using into fx return of an amp as I do with the kraken preamp?
Armstrong Dale
Looks good, sounds good. Not sure I need it when I got an Apollo with Friedman plug-ins. Although, I suppose I could get the IRX, send it into the Apollo with a Friedman plug-in loaded too because fuck it why not? The gain staging wouldn't be annoying at all! I'm sold!
Hi @Rabea Massaad, I want to purchase a Strymon BigSky so bad, but I feel an upgrade is coming? What do you think; still a good purchase, wait for the possible upgrade, or consider another reverb pedal?🤔
What's the riff at 16'35'' please ? Can't remember but I sure know it !!
Old school Bea Demos are back? Win for us. Loss for my bank balance.
@@RabeaMassaad dooo it. Got to buy that elden ring content somehow 🤣
A clever soul might use a tiny Windows computer (e.g. Latte Panda) with a small touch display and be able to change the software-only settings live on stage.
Even better would be mobile app access via Bluetooth.
This pedal seems to have good features and tones but so do a lot of others and this one seems a bit lacking in certain areas. It needs to mature and have another release later that brings it to the forefront. Otherwise the Soldanos of the world are going to get the attention.
Just my two cents.

Why would you put that kind of usb connection on a device in 2024? Why not usb-c?
I thought the same thing to be fair, I forgot to mention it in the video
The Friedman IR-X began development in 2020, then EVERYTHING happened.

500 spondoolies is a bit too salty for my taste.
@@walterworrall This is almost a Synergy Friedman BE-DLX preamp module, with an IR host and MIDI, which does not require a chassis. Considering that Synergy preamp modules are US$400, the IR-X's price is not bad.
I have this and I plug it into the loop of my Marshall DSLR20 and it sounds amazing from plexi to hot rodded JCM, I thought I’d regret spending $500 on it but it honestly was worth every penny for that sound 10x better than the dsl on its own.
I think the problem is the pedal format. We're wired to think that pedals should be about $100-250. You have to think of this like a tube MIDI rack preamp with IR cab simulation. Kind of like an updated Marshall JMP-1. You'd never find that for under $500, and this is the same thing in a pedal format.
Wintheiser Burg
Sounds noisy. Is that a function of the pedal itself or adding gain to bring up the line level?
The included power supply is two-prong. The manual recommends connecting to an interface or something that’s grounded, or you can use a power supply to help the noise. I’ve used a Cioks and Pedal Power Plus 3 with great results. If I’m using single coils or even splitting coils on a humbucker, I have not noticed any more noise than I have heard through other amps/units.

This Gibson Custom sounds really aged :).

I have sent mine back because it is not what it sounds like in this kind of videos.
I don't know about your "in videos" take, but to me it didn't sound at all like an amp which it advertises as. Certainly more of a preamp over an Ir amp sim device. Is it worth it? Don't know. some people love it, others look elsewhere.
@@Manley156 Videos about pedals are just advertisement. If you want the best review, you have to review it yourself.
Please can you redo it, but for 24 hours. thank you. Okay maybe. 20 hours. 4 hours for coffee and sleep.

Damn Dave Friedman doesn't play games man this fucking amp sounds just amazing!! I cannot believe how great!
Rabea could really make anything sound like heaven
Or hell, depends if he plays ambient or high gain lol
Yes to both, heaven or hell. His go-to test licks and riffs are brilliant to listen to.
Can't wait to check his new band, Vower, out at ArcTanGent this year. There's nothing out yet, buy considering there are also members of Black Peaks and Palm Reader in it, it should be intense 👌🏻👌🏻
For sure… he knows how to “play to the tone”. He seems to automatically know where he’s gonna go with whichever tone it is he’s got happening.
Great ears and killer talent!!
That’s why you have to be so careful gauging whether you want a piece of gear from guys like him or Michael Nielsen- these guys can make a crate amp sound great 🤣
