Activating Collective Intelligence | A Climate Fresk Workshop

How can we deliver quality climate education to a maximum of people in order to reach a social tipping point that will guide us to a low carbon world? The students of CIFE's Joint Masters had the opportunity to take part in a “Climate Fresk” afternoon prompting participants to take constructive action to tackle climate change.
Under the guidance of experienced facilitators of the German representative of the NGO "Climate Fresk Deutschland e.V.", the students worked in small groups to elaborate a climate fresk. Using 42 cards with major facts and details of the scientific IPCC report, each group assembled its own fresk showing the interconnectedness of the different factors.
The afternoon was enlightening, instructive and for some quite emotional. As one of the participants put it: "Climate change was caused by humans and as such humans can correct it. We still have a lot of power and agency to come together as a united world and save this as global citizens."

Swarm intelligence is key to the concept of the NGO La Fresque du Climat which was founded in 2018 in France by Cedric Ringenbach and which is now active in over 40 countries around the world. Its goal is to enable the rapid growth of climate education and shared understanding of the challenge that climate change represents.
