Hey Kevin. I have applied at an agency for the copywriting and they have given me a copy test. For that, I need to make ad campaign. Thanks to your video, I have a much better clarity.
So many product and brand categories out there to choose from. Try scrolling through Amazon or at your local stores. You could pick anything from a food delivery service, tech gadget, trash bags, bathroom staple to a kitchen appliance, solar panels, maid service, Tupperware and more. The world is your oyster!! Walk around your house even for inspiration.
Hi Kevin! I'm having an ad pitch presentation soon... do you have any tips? Would be great if you make a video talking about pitching or if you know where can I get more info, examples or ideas I would really appreciate it. Greetings from Mexico!
That’s an excellent idea and I think I will make that video sometime. I’m actually in the middle of a pitch at the moment. The best resource I have found is a book called Perfect Pitch by Jon Steel. You won’t find one better! Best of luck.
Check out a few more of my videos over the creative process. They should help! And if you’re more serious I also have a step by step book called Breaking into Art Direction on Amazon that will help!
@@OpenDoorCreative Thank you for the reply. Starting a campaign in the first month is little intimidating, is it for beginners or for a little bit advance . I am currently doing graphic design course in coursera and learning photoshop do you think i am in the right path
@@haranvinod6634 it can definitely be intimidating. I completely understand. But it’s important to start. Try to take the pressure off. Your first campaign you ever make might not be amazing and that’s okay. It’s getting the mind used to thinking creatively to solve a business problem. Photoshop and executing those ideas is just one half of the coin. My book slow plays this sentiment a bit more and works to get you in the right mindset. Either way, it’s your journey so do what feels right.
Hi Kevin, very informative content on ad campaign. I'm in the process of creating a campaign, any tips or advice. Is there a place where I can find some samples or learn about the steps of creating impressive ad campaign?
Sure thing! Please check out my playlist called "Become An Art Director". I put the videos I've created in order in which you should consume them in order to build your portfolio. Those should help with your process (hopefully). Particularly, look for the videos on how to brainstorm and idea sparking questions to come up with ideas. Another piece of advice is to look at award manuals and see best in class examples. Dissect what they did to come up with their idea. Study the greats. I hope that helps!
@@OpenDoorCreative Your content is very in-depth and it's helpful. In one of your video you mentioned there are three way to become AD. So I'm interested to know what is the realistic path to become an art director without going to back to school, but just building a portfolio?
Sure! If it is spec work, it’ll be good practice. If it’s paid, even better. As long as you don’t have to sign any non compete if you’re creating work for the actual company. There may be some conflict of interest. But, if you are just building ads for them on the side to build your portfolio, I don’t see why not.
Exactly! The first messy tiny baby step! It will never be perfect but it has to be done!

This is creating a big campaign for an advertising portfolio. If it’s a class assignment, you can probably simplify a bit.

Hey man, I’m a business owner looking for someone to run campaigns for the business. Do you know anyone?
If I may, the last step (creating a story) could serve you better if you do it FIRST. Kthxbye 🤗🌞
I had to like this video because it was at, 666 likes. LOL
Lol thank ya!
If only you used more visuals and less talking.... This page would be hot cake. I want to see what you do not hear it
