Not a baker and 1st time making currants roll... the simplest recipe I've found so far and very delicious! Been able to make these and give them as gifts...Thank you so much!
Thanks! The recipe was simple and delicious. Flaky crust and moist filling. The only change was adding a half a Tonka bean and some nutmeg to the filling. Recipes, such as these make it seem like I know what I’m doing in the kitchen haha.
thank you aunty janice!! i have made this recipe SEVERAL times lol but every single time i make it people tell me it’s the BEST currants roll they have EVER had!!! so again THANK YOU SOOOO VERY MUCH for sharing!!
You are the only person who's made currents roll look so easy to make. I've tried it and it came out delicious on my first try. Thanks for sharing this recipe.
Good job! You and Renee are really good chefs. You specialize in pastry baking and Renee in Trinidadian comfort food with a twist . This is sooo cool, peace
Want to this recipe just just have yo questions, 1_after you form the dough instead of putting it straight in the fridge can I use roll an fold method. And then put in the fridge . 2_ I see you use egg to brush the top if I don't eat eat what can I brush the top with. Thanks in advance
this looks amazing and easy to make, but quick question, can i not add the cold water and mix it a bit in the food processor, how come you used your hands ?
Cheer~~~a small dried fruit made from a seedless variety of grape originally grown in the Warm region, now widely produced in each region, and much used in cooking.~~😊
Elizabeth Roblyn Hi there! Thank you for watching. You have to ise unsalted butter. Margarine will not get you the same results in terms of flavour and texture.
Hi eatahfood, I decide to try this recipe by hand method, unfortunately the dough was a disaster. It didn't hold together and it was dry. I've done it before using the food processor but I add four cups of flour to eight ounces of butter, it came out just like Emily's one. Something diffnately wrong with the recipe. Now is not the time to be wasting ingredients. #verydisappointed
The recipe is fine. It's the technique that made it a little bit "doughy". Too much handling of the dough. You could also replace some of the butter with some shortening for additional flakiness.
Please tell the same to Bobby flay....and the entire food Network crew...they make the video like this so that normal people can relate, and wont feel intimidated....so they create a home enviroment video...because really when youre home you dont where gloves, dust mask and hair net to fry an egg..🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
