I know people who thought Biden saying shut up was tacky and unpresidential. Same people had no objection to DJT interrupting moderators and debators. Or bragging about his junk in a primary debate. Amazing. Several changed their minds after J6, but reluctantly. They're so addicted to Culture Wars.

Just about every one at one point or another makes jokes about having "squirrel moments" (reference to the movie UP) it is normal to get distracted ...... what makes what he did not a show of anything negative is that he was able to go right back to exactly where he was in his sentence. No matter the age group, everyone has experienced not remembering what they were saying when they got distracted. So this is actually a show of good cognitive function.

When it comes to your dear President being mentally sharp in his early 80s, I'll tell you a story. My mother-in-law turns 90 this year, and she's as mentally sharp as she's ever been. I've known her since 1986 when she was the head teacher (principal) of a school attached to a psychiatric hospital. So she was dealing with mentally ill teens and trying to educate them (trying to educate unwilling teens is a job and a half _without_ any illnesses involved. I know because my husband is a learner mentor for teens who didn't pass their English and maths exams at 16, which you're supposed to do here before you leave education. He loves "his kids" but they drive him doo-lally-tap on a daily basis! 😂). So you can imagine how sharp she was back then (she didn't take any crap off any of them, but in her own very successful way, she got them educated whilst the docs got them better). Since then, like President Biden, she's lost a daughter to leukaemia, seen another daughter go through a painful divorce in the USA after she'd retired - we're in the UK so she flew back and forth a few times a year to help the grandkids - and has not only welcomed 9 grandchildren but 4 great-grandchildren plus a recent official addition of an extra two (our eldest daughter had two, then had her own painful divorce, got together with her genuinely perfect partner whom we adore and who already had 2 sons the same age as hers. They had a daughter 5 years ago and tied the knot a few weeks ago! Just as we love our additional two grandsons, and have since we met them, she has opened her heart and done the same thing). All of this happened after leaving her husband after 33 years of marriage (I was the only one who wasn't surprised...), remaining married (she got his pension, not his later partner 😂) until he passed away, and losing her own "friend" a couple of months ago. She's determined to live longer alone than she did with my FIL! 🤣 (Don't get me wrong, I loved him dearly, but I live with his son so... There are times when I call hubby by his dad's name. I saw her mistake early on in our life together and trained him quickly!) With similar sadness to President Biden in his life, and the same obvious love for her family, she's remained ebullient, determined and funny, as well as being as sharp as a tack. She's lost a few steps, as they say, when it comes to physicality, but she still beats both me and my husband as we've both got degenerative spinal conditions (diagnosed about 15 years apart, me first after we'd been married about 10 years. Just one of those things). You don't need a _fast_ president - FDR is definitely one of your greatest ever leaders and the only way he was going to be "fast" was to take him to the top of a steep hill and let go of his wheelchair! (We live on a small but steep hill. After one "trip" out in the village, I refused to let my husband push me in a wheelchair ever again!) What you need is what you have; a smart, experienced, loving and compassionate person who is very highly regarded by your allies. As we seem to be in the Cold War Part 2, anyone more inclined to authoritarian/selfish rule would be a fricking disaster! Much love to my American friends (and I am not forgetting my family in NC!). There shouldn't be a maximum age. That's a dumb idea. I've talked with very smart 70 year olds and extremely dumb 40 year olds. Plus, considering life expectancy is going up and one day humans might live to be 100s or 1000s of years old with future medicine advancements, that age limit is going to look even dumber.

I learned to drive just around the time GPS became common. I'm now much worse at remembering how to drive places than my parents (takes a lot more repeat trips before it sticks and I can drive the route without referencing anything). AR is going to be amazing. In the future everyone will need one just like everyone needs their phones with them when they're out of home every moment of every day. However, just like if your phone battery dies now you turn into a 30 something year old helpless toddler, when the AR goggles run out of battery you'll literally not remember what your friends' names are, where you live or what year it is.
Use the timer on your oven for one dish and buy a second oven and use the timer on it for another dish? Why not, it's cheaper than buying Apple's new goggles.
Also there are cooking plates with a built in timer that automatically switch off and sound an alarm. I have an induction cooking plate and can set a different timer for each of its four zones.

And looked like an escaped lab prototype. :D Vision Pro is a full visual field AR system that can do a whole lot more. As someone who has to wear glasses not to fall over her furniture in the morning, I'll be more interested in this stuff when it's literally integrated with normal eyewear and doesn't require a big battery pack, etc. There are so many really amazing things, especially accessibility aids, that something like that could do, like automatic translation of speech, subtitle generation, looking up faces (for prosopagnosia), and so on.
And it will be impossible to repair those as well since Apple will again serialize all of the sub-assemblies, tell the parts makers (in the contracts) to not sell the parts to anyone else, chase down any stray copy of the schematics with cease-and-desist, and refuse to let diagnostic software out of the grasp of their "Genius Bar" whose real job is to overinflate the cost of repair to make you buy a new one.
Last night, I (from Nova Scotia) played a couple of games of online chess with a guy from California. I told him all of the snow we had been getting (record snowfall in some places). He told me that California was experiencing drought-like conditions, and the rain they had been getting was much needed. I told him I wished that they get all the rain they needed, before hearing later how severe the rainfall was actually becoming. You could do that on a tablet - watch someone coach you with two different timers going. I use Google Assistant to run multiple timers just using my voice. Also, everyone that's used that headset says that it is heavy and gives them a headache after 40 minutes or so.

I lived in San Diego until I left in my late 30s. I never saw rain like this. We had insane rain, but nothing like this.
You only need one timer. Set it for the shorter time and when it goes off, reset it for the remaining time.

I can't remember the last time I set a timer while cooking. Just wing it.
Also there are cooking plates with a built in timer that automatically switch off and sound an alarm. I have an induction cooking plate and can set a different timer for each of its four zones.

A decade ago Google made "smart glasses", and we all collectively agree it was dumbest thing ever. Then Apple made a dumber looking version for nearly twice the price, *but* it also had an Apple logo on it, and everyone's tripping over themselves to give them money. Not condemning these kind of cults early is what gave us Trump.
These types ofnitems have us living in fantasy, isolated from one another, and not dealing with thw reality of angry divided people living on a planet that we are suffocating, flooding and dehydrating all at the same time.

To be fair, they did rather different things. Glass just put a tiny AR window above your vision on one side. And looked like an escaped lab prototype. :D Vision Pro is a full visual field AR system that can do a whole lot more. As someone who has to wear glasses not to fall over her furniture in the morning, I'll be more interested in this stuff when it's literally integrated with normal eyewear and doesn't require a big battery pack, etc. There are so many really amazing things, especially accessibility aids, that something like that could do, like automatic translation of speech, subtitle generation, looking up faces (for prosopagnosia), and so on.

And it will be impossible to repair those as well since Apple will again serialize all of the sub-assemblies, tell the parts makers (in the contracts) to not sell the parts to anyone else, chase down any stray copy of the schematics with cease-and-desist, and refuse to let diagnostic software out of the grasp of their "Genius Bar" whose real job is to overinflate the cost of repair to make you buy a new one.

Last night, I (from Nova Scotia) played a couple of games of online chess with a guy from California. I told him all of the snow we had been getting (record snowfall in some places). He told me that California was experiencing drought-like conditions, and the rain they had been getting was much needed. I told him I wished that they get all the rain they needed, before hearing later how severe the rainfall was actually becoming. Now we should hope that it's not so much rain that would make the drought worse. Stay safe 'Acencion'.

Those goggles actually looked like they could make cooking awesome. I can envision a vr chef tutor program that monitors and coaches you through the prep for an entire gourmet meal.
You could do that on a tablet - watch someone coach you with two different timers going. I use Google Assistant to run multiple timers just using my voice. Also, everyone that's used that headset says that it is heavy and gives them a headache after 40 minutes or so.

I probably use the Joe Biden approach when I have to set more than one timer, like two pots, or two teas. I remember the difference in my head, and when the timer goes, set it for the other one. And yes, I even do this if I use my iPhone's timer 😂
