Gonzaga cannot be included in the Blue Blood category until they win a few championships. That’s just how it works. That’s why the club has such few members. And it takes more than 1 title to be in the conversation imo.
Crazy thing about kentucky is and anybody knows who followed the Hiring of Pope is he essentially Built this Uk team in 3 weeks. He literally got Hired 1 day and in the first 3 days went hard on the Transfer Portal Found the guys he liked and had a whole roster in a less then a month. He went and got shooters, Lockdown Defenders and Bigs that can pass. Uk fans are buzzing right now. But i do agree with Daniel kansas is the best looking team would say UK is num 2.
Cats fan here and I would put a healthy Duke ahead of us, realistically. Not to say we still couldn't beat a healthy Duke team, but I would say they are better if they can keep their starters on the floor. Kansas unbeatable tho? Come now, Speak Easy! Y'all know better'n'at 🤪😂🙄
The fact that Kentucky is having the success they are right now after Mark Pope literally rebuilt program from the ground up in 3 weeks (players, coaching staff, press conferences). Just imagine what he'll be able to do when he has actual freshmen recruits over these next couple of years Kentucky this season has no legitimate bucket getters on the roster yet the adjustments Pope makes paired with the grit these veterans have, makes them a tournament-bound team
Pope put this team together in under a month. Not only that he had to put together a whole new staff and move his family to Kentucky and go through so many adjustments in such a short period of time. It is insane how good Kentucky is. They are not full of superstars, but they as a cohesive unit are tough, tough, tough. Even though they beat duke they actually didnt play good. Their best player had 1 point!?!? They struggled at the free throw line!!! Even though they hit 10 threes, this is a team that will normally drain 15 3s per game. Also they turned it over way more than typical. And, And they had foul trouble to deal with in the first half and had to sit guys and coast through the last 8 or so minutes of the first half. Kentucky played not a great game and beat a top 5 team in Duke.
Pope had to use the transfer portal it was to late in the year all the HS kids were gone. He is currently recruiting lots of Hs kids lol. Dailey joy made it sound like he just chose not to recruit HS kids, no it was too late. The difference is he will have a mixture of both that will work nicely on the court
I’m so aware that it was too late to recruit and he’ll have to do that moving forward. My point was that he didn’t go get a bunch of freshmen in the portal. He got a bunch of grown men and it worked!
Have to have atleast 3, and a consistent history of winning at a high level as well. The blue blood schools UK, Kansas, UNC, Duke, all have earned that title. Nobody else has.
I’m die hard Kentucky fan but that’s on John. If they put Cooper in a better position and ran a play to get a favorable matchup it could have went differently. But not cooper iso on the left baseline
Kansas hasn’t looked all that great to me. There defense isn’t very great I love KJ but having him and Hunter in at the same time makes it harder on the guards and wings to drive and outside of Zeke Mayo and Rylan Griffin they don’t have a lot of shooting. AJ isn’t a shooter idk why you think David Coit is but he’s not really known for that. I’d have them Behind Auburn Gonzaga Huston UConn and probably Kentucky because they can’t guard the pick and roll I seriously doubt they could guard all the ball screens Mark Pope throws at you.
With all due respect, Gonzaga has been excellent. However, the only “new” Blue Blood is UConn. And regardless of the elitism preached by historic Blue Blood fans to try to maintain their exclusivity, UConn is clearly deserving. And presently they are the only “new” program that should be included in the conversation.
I've watched Kansas twice. Hardly an "unbeatable" team. Realistically, about eight to ten teams right now, two+ weeks into the season, that look maybe the best of bunch, and four are in the SEC. Toss in Gonzaga, UConn, Jouston, and Kansas. In three more weeks, we'll start to get a feel. I'd add UNC and Duke if you want to make it a ten team field that look a little better than the rest. But I certain that will change a lot ny New Year's.
I know it early in the season but I'm sorry this Kansas team is the same as last year. I'm not impressed at all I saw nothing that said were the team to beat. When Hunter is out the middle is not protected well. I still see no perimeter shooting and how deep is the bench ? I don't think there bench deep at all but hey it's early who knows what could happen.
Gonzaga isnt a blue blood, but ehatever the tier directly beneath it . Uconn is barely a blue blood, and yeah, thats a controversial take nowadays.. but popping up every five years to win a title does not a blue blood make:)
Kansas looks unbeatable? They got beat in the preseason. Everyone says they were short handed. That means that aren't a very deep team. If they are short handed in March, they will get beat.
You have and cant reach blue blood level without a national title so I'm sorry Gonzaga isn't even close and one doesn't get you there you have to have. Multiple titles. Duke Kentucky UNC Kansas UCLA Louisville UCONN Indiana and Villanova are only ones blue blood material I'm sorry
And Gonzaga is not a Blue blood guys come on 😂 to be a blue blood you have to have a history and resume of winning at a high level with numerous championships. You have to sustain success over a long period of time. Gonzaga is a top tier program with Mark few, but they have yet to win the championship, so they can't even be considered. And they will have to win atleast 3 to even be considered a new blood. Come on fellas, this is well known knowledge amongst true college basketball fans.
Ok don’t Call Gonzaga until they win a championship. That’s why there not a blue blood. UConn can be a blue blood but they have a championship. Dude they are blue bloods because they have won championships. I know they are good every season but don’t call any team a blue blood that have won a national championship especially a team that plays in a conference where Saint Mary’s is the second best team in the conference
Every Duke fan that I have ever met has some crap story about why they are a fan. It’s ok to be a bandwagon fan of a team that wins frequently, but just be honest about it.
Hi :) Not a bandwagon fan. Was born and raised on Coach K as he and my dad were friends! I understand that may be your experience but it’s certainly not the case with me. Have a good day!
Gonzaga can’t be a blue blood for the simple reason that they have no championships. If Blue Blood is meant to refer to the elite of the elite. As in, you tank from good, to great, to elite, to blue blood. There are only 3, UK, KU, and UNC. Those are the three elite programs in college basketball. 3 programs that have won consistently throughout the history of college basketball and under multiple coaches. Duke, UConn, and UCLA are next in that tier, but their successes have come in spurts and/or more recently. Now Coach K is the greatest coach in college basketball history. And as a UK, I HATE saying that. But that just makes Duke a one coach wonder. And Wooden had the greatest run of any basketball program ever. Never to be duplicated. But what else has UCLA done to stay elite? They have had brief spurts, but then fade back away. And UConn is the current king of college basketball, but that run does not go back that far, and they have had plenty of bad years In between. They have been a bit of feast or famine. UK, KU, and UNC have had down years, but often those down years and years that other programs would kill for, and they don’t last long. I would put UConn at 4th as a program, because they now have 3 coaches with championships but they are still “just” elite. They move the needle the same way UK, KU, UNC, and Duke do, and they have the current success. Just not the lineage.
Been traveling so just catching up on the show. Seems like I missed some fireworks with this one 💥 Blue blood is a stupid term, in my opinion. I don’t care what schools did during World War 2 & before integration. But let folks keep celebrating it if it makes them happy.

Uk OLD BLUEBLOOD we are elated everyone is mvps a cohesive balanced built team. Pope's one of our own too understands the old ways we miss 1996
It’s crazy how fast he built the roster. It’s early but looks like he didn’t miss on his evaluations.
Cats fan here and I would put a healthy Duke ahead of us, realistically. Not to say we still couldn't beat a healthy Duke team, but I would say they are better if they can keep their starters on the floor.

BLUEBLOODS in order Kentucky North Carolina Kansas Uconn Duke thats it
It's crazy UCLA isn't there even though they have 11 titles lol but they truly aren't a bluebood. They just had an unbelievable run
Uk OLD BLUEBLOOD we are elated everyone is mvps a cohesive balanced built team. Pope's one of our own too understands the old ways we miss 1996 💙
Such a good hire for UK for all those reasons.
The bluest of the blue

This was exactly my point!! They'll be a force moving forward.
All bluebloods new or old have to have multiple titles. Uconn is a new blueblood for instance gonzaga is a powerhouse but not a blueblood
Pope put this team together in under a month. Not only that he had to put together a whole new staff and move his family to Kentucky and go through so many adjustments in such a short period of time. YES THEY DID!
She's right, but as a UK fan, the media is crying for saying Pope is better than Calipari😮F' em
In Pope we trust!
I love having Pope as coach and he knows how to coach, but I’m not going to say he’s better than Cal yet until he wins a chip.
I agree with the Dukie chick!
I’ve been called worse 😅

Blue bloods gotta have at least one chip.... right???
This is actually a very fair point

Exactly, even then tho. Baylor has 1 chip & they’re most def not a blue blood lol
Calipari, if he had the same roster, wouldn’t even have been in the game
CORRECT!
I like the dukie lady's take

Well said, Daily!
Thank ya!!!

Not a Kansas fan but they definitely didn’t upgrade at the 3.. Give Kevin his respect
To make a blue blood u. have to hv 3-5 championships min - but hv them in a min of 3 -5 decades of years of winning them
UConn is a new age blue blood, Gonzaga isn’t. Uk fan here
Gonzaga isn’t a blue blood! You’re not a blue blood until you win something of note! Win a championship!
Kansas hasn’t looked all that great to me. Forgets to mention Auburn. Throws them in the thumbnail
Auburn got their own episode! Check it out!
Did we watch the same Kansas team?
UF won back2back and they’re no blue blood. Zags have 0.
UConn is the new blue blood lol

Kansas definitely doesn't look unbeatable. I think Kentucky and Duke both are better than Kansas right now
Need at least 5 titles son!!! To be a blue blood!!
So UCLA, Kentucky, UConn, UNC, Duke and Indiana. That's the diffinitive list? How many do you need in the last 30 years, or is Blue Blood forever?
@The_triple_fool ucla yes! Uconn yes! Unc yes! Idiana nope!! Blue blood! Blue...not red ucla still sus tho been a min....
