  • To many products coming from Asia these days missing the instruction manuals, or if they do come with the manual the interpretation sucks!
In any case it is left up to us to figure out the stuff works, and this is my way of giving back to the other RC fliers who have helped me learn the hobby.
There is still much to learn about this radio, but for now I figured out how to set the fail safe feature on this Turnigy 9X radio, after learning about this I cant see how I ever flew and airplane with out it. I recommend all RC hobbyist get a radio that has this feature. You can never be to safe.
Enjoy and if you know how to do other set ups with radio please post here and share.
    thanks for watching

The fail safe funkcion is in the reciver and With the Hobby King 2.4Ghz Receiver 6Ch V2 it wont work.

@NoobyRC Yes, but it seems you need to cut and re-wire it on the Turnigy 9X v2 as for some silly reason they've soldered it on there.
On the back you can find the module and you can take it out. Failsafe is something thats mostly a receiver thing whether you'll get that feature, but I believe the Assan module, FrSky module and some others do support the failsafe fully.
I believe they are also for sale through HobbyKing. Unfortunately I've got no actual experience with them yet though.

Thanks for sharing this, looking forward to your final review of the transmitter. I'm still waiting for some spare receivers, so my full order with the 9X is still reserved.
Hope HK will send it all out soon.
As for range of the 9X and receiver I've heard people try 300m up to 1000m and had no signal loss. Of course 300m is more than enough, at least for helicopters. Even a plane will become very small once it's 300m away.
I think you can try the fail safe by switching off the transmitter?

@NoobyRC ...also with a new module you will have to buy new receivers also that are compatible with that new module.
It might cost you more than it's really worth, but I can see why one would like to have a true and working failsafe feature.

@NoobyRC Did you try simply switching off your transmitter too, all up close to the model to check what will happen directly?
As for the motor if you're using a nitro motor it actually won't shut it off like that. The electric motors will (always) stop as that's what will happen when your ESC gets no signals anymore, so that part probably doesn't really work either. :-)
Its too bad it really doesn't work, but at least its been confirmed now. It does of course work with a different module.

The best way to set a fail safe up for this Rx/Rx is manually setup a little declination in the servos and trim them in the Tx to the right position, when you loose control the servos will go to zero position (with inclination)

FMA co-pilot will keep your plane level if it gets out of range just add a bit of left or right rudder to the failsafe and it will come down nice and level as long as there are no trees that is.

Thanks for posting! My naza with gps doesn´t return home when i switch off the 9x. Do you know what can be the problem?

@Cjudd001 From what I hear one doesn't have to worry about range issues at all, it will be out of view way before you'll lose control because of the sheer distance involved.
From what I've figured out so far, over 300m range is what you'll get which is more than sufficient unless you're into FPV stuff and fly very long distances. Cheers. :-)

Hi is this a turnigy 9x v2? Does the failsafe really work for the v2 version? Because I've read somewhere that it doesn't work...
