Cheese plays Usurper Ghoul - Episode Two

After our last adventure in this new world we've been dropped into, we return in this episode to further explore this sprawling village we left off. I suppose it's time to mingle and see what we can learn from the residents!
Usurper Ghoul is an exploratory game about a fallen kingdom. Made by Evan Dahm with GB Studio, PyxelEdit, and Milkytracker, it was released in 2020 for the GameBoy. Evan is a graphic novalist who has been releasing his work since 2006.

This game kind of reminds me of what I think Undertale would have looked like on the GB back in the day with the cartoony but also macabre art style.

Yeah for sure, it's like a return-to-form of the retro gaming scene. I feel like there are so many modern games whose graphics and mechanics are inspired by classic, pixelated games, and now we see these kinds of games returning to these old consoles. And it seems like there is a growing interest in the scene!
