I dug into my wife’s Philadelphia-based family and found out she and her siblings and cousins were all eligible to be Sons & Daughters of The Confederacy! Turns out their first male ancestor in America moved to the Georgia and married a Southern girl just in time for the Civil War to start. Amazingly he survived 4 years with the GA 28th Heavy Artillery Btn only to return to Philly right after the war. My wife’s family had NO clue about any of this and were completely dumbfounded.
