Im Māori and this dedication to our cousins from Samoa still makes me cry when you think of the devastation our cuzzies suffered
Appreciate the explanation! It's amazing!
So beautifully sung by our cousins 😭❤️❤️ Powerful
❤❤
I was in Samoa during the measles outbreak and spent time at the hospital - it was heartbreaking seeing so many lives lost and the broken families - I remember coming back to NZ and seeing this on TV and I bawled my eyes out 😭it meant so much! the power, the lyrics, the aroha shown in this performance, was just so beautiful
Feel for you but definitely a lovely song full of passion that now holds a fond memory for you
As a Māori I was proud of this group for singing this. Samoans are our older brothers. Whanau
What is the whakapapa to that?

Fun fact
I am Māori from Ngati kahungunu o Te Waka Takitimu and it is said that Takitimu canoe was built in Samoa!! And voyaged for Samoa to Aotearoa 🤙🏾 Abit of history on how close we are as Whanau. I believe we are all whanau (family) of Te Moana-Nui a kiwi ( Peolpe of the sea 😊👍🏾🤙🏾 chhheeeehuuu!!
Agreed to everything you just said bro! Family
The woman leading the waiata (Song) she is part Maori, and part Samoan.

In translation to his speech in the beginning is in honour and a tribute to those whom we lost to the outbreak in Samoa and the part where they transition from Samoan to Maori is translating parts of the Samoan version also you were spot on about the meaning of the word MANA😊im pretty sure your one of us, tena koe brother ngā mihi nui

Hh, my TUvalu workmates thought I was fluent in Samoan because I sing Samoan songs. But I just learn them from Fresh of the boat songs. Note I’m Maori/ European. This group is always guaranteed a position in the top 6 of the competitions. Also they do have a Gym regime as well as singing practice. They need the fitness to perform.
That is crazy to know, they are just too good bro

I was really looking forward to your video, however it’s a shame that your Sounds are so messed up.
You are really loud and dominating, while the vocals of the video is really low. I was struggling to hear this amazing singing.
Very disappointed
Yeah, watching it back - my sound is off, I would've liked the video sound to be louder also
