Jimi Hendrix isn’t one of the best he is the best ! There’s Jimi Hendrix then there’s everyone else ! Jimi set the trends in the world of guitar he didn’t follow them he set them ! He’s the reason I bought my first white Strat guitar and my crybaby wah pedal to get the voodoo child slight return sound ! I started out with guitar when hair metal was at the height in music but it was Jimi Hendrix from 20 years earlier that captured my attention and lead me into playing electric blues and psychedelic rock guitar , there’s nothing like it ! It’s a vibe of vibes the coolest era of rock music from 1967 - 1970 you find some of the coolest music around maybe even Starting in 1966 when psychedelic rock first really Jammed the airwaves !

Jimi is the best. He lived and played with the Isley Brothers briefly and greatly inspired their Brother Ernie who also can play with his mouth. Great reaction.

Great reaction guys. I love to see people react to Jimi Hendrix. Reminds me when I first listen to him and how blown away I was. Now, no disrespect to you guys reaction but I kind of feel like you reacted to the wrong hey joe. You should have seen him perform this live where he plays the whole solo with his teeth. The crazy part about it is, this isn't even Jimi's best music. Jimi was an alien when it came to playing guitar. No exaggeration. His guitar playing will amaze you more than this will. React to Machine Gun I Fillmore East for starters. That's one of his masterpieces. Peace and love.

I love how the lyrics are delivered. Joe sounds like a psychopath relating how he shot his woman. His inflection shows no remorse. This is blues music lyricism at its best.

There is a black and white German tv show video of this song I love. The song is an old song about domestic violence murder. Shocking.
But I love the way he plays it. He was amazing.
I only watch this song. Seriously hooked. There is a video where he plays an acoustic guitar, a blues song. His roots are the blues. It’s has a white background, color video, his clothes and sense of style is beyond amazing. He got that in London. The mod look was huge there. Lots of fashion poured in later from Afghanistan.

Allegedly... Is roadie, Tappy Wright said that he was killed by his manager and made it look like he died of a drug overdose. Jimi's autopsy supports that theory.

Jimi has a storied history with Raincouver 🇨🇦 and our cities history.
His grandmother, Nora, was his great, musical influence. She moved here, earlier in the last century, as a vaudeville performer, co-establishing the 1st Black church in the city. She was a tireless contributor to Vancouver's Black community, including Hogan's Alley & Vie's Chicken, where she cooked for greats like Louis Armstrong & Ella Fitzgerald. Jimi's mother disappeared, early from his life and Nora became his guiding light, spending many summers in the city. Jimi's father, Al, was born in Vancouver, later moving to Seattle...but Jimi always preferred Vancouver. At 20, after leaving the army, he spent time rehearsing here, between '62-63...he was with Motown artist, Bobby Taylor & the Vancouvers, for 9 days, (Tommy Chong, or Cheech & Chong, was also in the band, at the time), before quitting, leaving town with Little Richard.
♡ Nora's Strathcona house is a civic heritage site, with a plaque on it's lawn, commemorating her work within the community❗

Perhaps the "surprise" that some feel as far as skin color goes, of the artists within the different types of music might subside if they would check out and listen to some Hendrix. For most of us music fans, he IS the standard for which all guitarists who came after are judged upon. His SKILL in playing the guitar should be the "surprise." Not the color of his skin. It's a damn shame that those types of thoughts even pop up in people's heads...regardless of skin color. I'll damn sure go to my grave unable to wrap my brain around why ANY skin color in ANY type of music is even an issue at all. Anyway, for myself, Hendrix and SRV are on a shelf by themselves...then, there's everybody else.

most people say he was playing with his teeth. i believe he was secretly keeping a pick in his mouth, then holding it between his teeth to play.
the reason i think this is that guitar strings are tough enough to chip teeth.
if you can create the illusion that you're playing with your teeth without having to do it for real, then the audience reaction is still worth it.

Actually Jimi invented Metal music. He was the first to perform the metal guitar solo. Then other musicians got inspired to contribute to that genre. He is not one of the best -- HE IS THE BEST because the world never heard guitar played like that. He got famous in Europe because he was rejected by American audiences in the beginning. After he got famous abroad, then we he returned to America, they went crazy over his performance. Funny how most peop0le think that "METAL" is a white people's music, but he started first. Stevie Ray Vaughn was greatly influenced by Jimi's style and he pattern himself after Jimi. So he was the greatest metal guitarist in the world because nobody hear soar guitar notes like that. He mixed rock and roll, with the blues and after dropping acid (LSD) his mind opened up and a brand new sound was born. So he was not one-of-the-best - HE WAS THE BEST (just like the Nikola Tesla invented things nobody ever thought of before - most people don't know that our wireless tech was started by Nikola). The Best means the inventor of something that was never seen or heard of. Jimi was the first to play his guitar with both his teeth & tongue (never seen before from a performer anywhere). He was also the first to play his guitar over the back of his neck, and it sounds like he is playing it regularly. Prince took after Jimi with is style of clothing, the way he played guitar was just like Jimi if you go look at his live performance concerts that didn't get much air play. You see his record label would mainly have the radio stations only play his pop style music. But Prince can play just like Jimi. Check out Prince live playing a song called My Guitar Gently Weeps. In that performance he shows his spin on doing something no other performer has ever done. I wont spoil it by telling what he did. You have to see it with your own eyes. Jimi inspired Prince to have a unique trick that would be his distinct signature that he only did. Back in the day, my husband played like Jimi H. when I first met him.
